Renee Martinez is such an angel. He kept an army of Katana pedals ready for John to use., for years! When I'd see Renee at the Dallas Guitar Shows, he was Such a Sweetheart of Man! Love ya Renee!!!
@user-vy1ji7zx2x literally had one of the highest selling fender custom guitars, and brought PRS to a whole new level. You can personally hate on Mayer all you want, but there's a complete ignorance if you think he hasn't inspired a whole range of guitarist; both old and new. The dude shreds.
@@TheOwensillars So Mayer had SRV tatoo at 18 bck when he was doing acoustic only albums, ?!?!!? and singing wonderland. That makes his early craeer choices seem super contrived/fake prtending h e was this happy acoutic kid, when in reality he was an electirc player at home who admired SRV
Rene Has The BEST SRV Stories! And - No Matter HOW Stevies' Name Or Initials Were Spelled Or What They They Were On - There Will Never, EVER Be ANYONE Like Stevie Ray Vaughan! He Left His SRV On Everyone's HEART! He Was Special BEYOND The Name, BEYOND The Success, BEYOND The The Music!!! When I Think Of Him - I Remember WHO We Really Lost When He Died! I Will Always Miss Him....SOUL💞SOUL, STEVIE💗😘 & God Bless!
I'm not a huge John Mayer fan and have not listened to much of his work, but my younger sister turned me on to his music. We both went to university in Minnesota. Shortly after my discharge from the Navy in 2013 we drove home together to Wisconsin from Minnesota listening to "Paradise Valley" on repeat. I was sold on John Mayer by the time we got home. What a phenomenal album.
This album makes sense after listening on a road trip. I didn’t love it until I listened on a road trip, and John has actually mentioned that multiple people have told him the same!
@@bobravenscraft5376 lol in what world does he lack skill and dynamics? You clearly haven't seen him play. You're just yelling at clouds because you wish you were back in the 70s.
Wow was he the one that switched guitars for SRV when his string broke playing look at little sister on Austin City Limits?? Im so glad i got to see SRV before his tragic death, RIP SRV What a genius.
Gee Im crushed I thought you tattooed my initials on your arm..haha just kidding 😊I'm grateful your alive and rocking my world yes simply I just want to close my eyes ,smile and listen to my favorite guitarist singer songwriter..yah you Mr. Mayer 🎸💫Z
Sulphur Recovery Unit? I have been a fan of Stevie Ray for 40 years, and I did notice the font change but never once have I thought that was a U. Stevie Ray was so smooth he turned letters into different letters lol . Now ima play Tin Pan Alley in V-sharp.
Great story. Couple of factual errors though. 1) the cursive lettering was only on the guitar for a few months- starting in june 1990 at the tonight show to the crash in aug 1990, 2) it actually is the V, not the U, but the V has a more curved bottom. One easy way to tell is that the U has the little nick at the bottom and the V doesnt
Renee, from what I was told came real close to riding on that the helicopter that Stevie died on 1990. Not sure if that’s true or not but that’s what I heard from someone who knew him.
It looks better to see some curvature in the v rather than just straight angles which isn't quite so aesthetic as much as jarring, much like 12-tone equal temperament itself
I recognize Stevie Ray Vaughan's importance and influence. I really do. I have never enjoyed his playing. I know I'm in a tiny minority here.. .because he's obviously great. It's just a weird little thing. I will never disrespect his name though.
Really disliked this man, for some untangle reason but I'm changing my mind and getting to like him. His music however may take a little longer . Love this Story.
And he's leaving out the part out after that show when Stevie Ray Vaughan and Martinez actually realized it was you and not a v Stevie Ray Vaughan continued to use the same exact you on his other guitars when he changed the lettering
