Every time I see the link for a live John Mayer video I haven't seen, I always think "How different can this really be from all the other ones?". And I get proven wrong EVERY TIME.
Heaven help me...John Mayer, you are a genius. Your music and your words make this world a better place to live in, and make me a happier person. I don't think if I could even get inside your head or your guitar that I could feel this music enough...thank you for doing what you do and making this world a better place to live...

This is such a great song. Lyrics are so moving. We used this at a friend's memorial service and everyone was in tears. This is to you Katherine- you are not forgotten! Thanks John Mayer for great music!
Every time I hear this song, in whatever rendition in whatever year, I think of trying to learn it to impress my girlfriend when it came out. We were in high school, we were young, we were never going to make it, and this fucking song always puts me back in high school summer and I get this great twinge of nostalgia. It's a modern classic.

I was at this performance in Miami and didn't realize 'til I saw the video that it was almost 10 minutes long. This is me and my wife's second time seeing JM live in concert. I really like John Mayer and I think he has a deep understanding of his music. It really shows when he plays, and I'm grateful to have a musician like him around now to tell my kids about. Going back to basics, and taking musical ideas from legends like Buddy Guy, SRV, Jimi, etc in this time of sometimes crappy music, makes his music like a breath of fresh air. Keep it up John!
people, if you haven't seen this guy live, you are missing out. i just came back from his show in Maryland Heights and i had a lump in my throat during his solo in Gravity. absolutely mind blowing.

I feel the exact same way, the man is beyond beautiful! I get that feeling... like I have butterflies in my stomach... when I hear his music... it takes me back to my kid days... its so lovely!
actually, it is some Hendrix influence. He was one of his influences from Jimi's time with Band of Gypsies with Buddy Miles amd he made note of that in an interview of the artist who he listened to when he picked up the guitar in his formative years. And remember, SRV was also a disciple of Hendrix as well.
it's also very refreshing to hear a popular musician improvise. When i go to a show i don't always want to hear the solo on the CD...thanks for having talent! And lots of it
that's the great thing about the blues... one person can't be 'better'. it's self expression. eric clapton is amazing at the way he expresses himself through his own music, and john mayer is just as good at his own blues expression through his own music. They are their own artists and equally amazing in both respects.
W-O-W! If this guy touches a woman with the same devotion he plays that guitar... my God! Ive got me simply hypnotized by his trance under that red light. He doesn't need to be compared to A or B. He just do his own merit, touching our souls with these such beautiful songs and (sometimes) some psychedelic accords like this. He does so well, cz he does with the heart, with the soul. I admire him, so much! And I love his voice!
I would give anything to be this close to the stage. I went to a concert on my 16th birthday and was unbelievably excited to be seeing John for my birthday. When the concert finally started, the people in front of me stood up and they were all well over 6 feet tall, and being only 5'8", I could barely see over their shoulders. :( This video pwns my soul. :D
wow. i cannot wait until feb. 23. this is my favorite john mayer song in this whole world. i am more than excited to be in the same room as this man. he is absolutely amazing.
If you don't like him don't listen. That's a no brainer. Put your efforts into something else. He hasn't set out to be the best in the world he is simply trying to be the best he can. I think he is amazing. I've seen him twice live and both were the best concerts I've ever been to and I've seen huge names in the music industry.
I love this, I hope they get more up from this tour. I was at his first tour stop. Jacksonville baby! It was an incredible show even though i was in the nose bleed section. I'm a really big fan of Mayer and this was my first time seeing him play live and I was definately impressed. Can't wait till he comes back around I'll definately be up for a second round
This is a magnificent song in the studio version on the continuum album but somehow he manages to make to play it better live and to make it more soulful. That is why this is one of the greatest artist of this decade.
