My dad is always proud to say he went to see U2, Clapton live multiple times. My mom is always proud to say she went to see Queen live. One day I’ll go to see John Mayer live and I’ll be proud to tell that to my children
Went to see him on his last tour. No opening act, just him playing for 2 1/2 hours with almost every song run time being extended by 1 to 3 minutes. He played everything too. Everything from Room for Squares to New Light. I was impressed. Most artists who have made it big don't give it all the got on every song for almost 3 hours.
Mayer writes songs that are instant classics. He is also one of the best guitarists to come along in a while. Not many like him today. I like him mixing it up.
John is a musical virtuoso. He's tackled nearly every musical genre and excelled. This guy is a true student of music culture. Todays pop-tarts and Idol stars have no musical understanding and historical frame of reference. Thanks to John for keeping the legacy of True musicianship intact. We need more people like John in the music business. The musicians of the 30s,40,50,60,70 and 80s understood music and now it's all programed crap and people who can't sing or lack true musical understanding.
He's changed but I'm the past he's literally written songs about why he'll always be lonely and why he WANTS that. Perfectly lonely, half of my heart, assassin and a few others I can't name off top of my head. Now he's ready to settle.
I never sat down the entire concert... Hes seriously the best concert Ive been too. If y'all ever get a chance to see him do it you will not be disappointed.
I've been loving him since the 6th grade and I'm 22 now. His music has changed so much and it's still as amazing as it's always been. Music artists change their sounds all the time and its nothing wrong with that. At least its still rock and not pop. I LOVE YOU JOHN and I'm SO glad you're staying true to real music! I love how John evolves with every album he comes out. Keeps things fresh and interesting. Something different every time. Keep up the amazing work John.
the first time I cried at a concert was during the solo of Edge of Desire - my wife and I were at the Hollywood Bowl, decent seats, and lemme tell ya, it was a perfect evening.
This stage of John Mayer is as important as any other stage, so stop asking for the "Pop" or "Blues" Mayer. Respect that he is actually still here and not faded away like any other musician that came from his era.
John mayer is the best musician of our entire generation. I have been a fun since 1999 when I was 5 years old. He never stops impressing me with his lyrics and musical talents! Thank God that Mayer is back!!!
Such a genius with enough pleasant variety amongst his albums that he manages to keep the exisiting fans happy and attract new ones. Personally, Battle Studies is my favorite. It's not the most artistic amongs the lot, but when I fell on "hard times"(yeah- it was "heartbreak" :) ), it allowed me to have an outlet and resonated with me. It helped get me through those dark days. I love some songs from his first album such as the radio hits as well as "Neon", "Great Indoors" and my fav- "St. Patrick's Day". Also love "Born And Raised" and "Continuum" and recently "Paradise Valley" has stated growing on me. This kid is showing some of my favorite bands(not even solo acts) how it's done- Coldplay, Matcbox 20 and the like need to learn a bit. Thank you for the music, John!
LOVE the new album. Anyone dissing his new style needs to consider that each of his albums tells a story of a specific part of his life's journey they continuee a narrative. His musical style changes as the narrative does. RFS and HT: a young guy who wants to mess around and have fun. Continuum: A cocky guy who thinks he's learned about love and the meaning of life BS: a man heartbroken by love B&R and PV: a man willing to move on and find his way back to love with a more modest outlook on life
He's still amazing, both as a singer-songwriter and guitarist. Hate to burst your bubble, but John is still boss. If you were a real fan of his, you would support him no matter what.
dude! his way of life reflects on his songwriting, right now he's 35 and chilling out somewhere in montana settling down, which REALLY comes back into his songs, just appreciate his way of life now and if its too boring for you take some LSD
Each time I buy one of his albums, I feel like he has just made his best album yet. Then comes another one.... truely blown away with his diversity and boldness to change and express himself through his music. This is what defines great artists. Truely lucky to be able to experience this!!
I really love this album...I think it is unfair to compare this album to Continuum because its such a different sound.. yes this album is rooted in blues, but it just has such an old timey feeling to it..you can definitely hear the Montana influence. John continues to amaze me on the guitar and i really think you need to start considering him in the talks with other greats
I love everything John Mayer does, and, Paradise Valley, is another piece of the puzzle, that is his life. My other favorites are, Heavier Things, Where the light is, and, Battle Studies. In those albums, I feel we really are able to relate to the changes in John's life. Every album tells a story, and, we get to share John's journey. This newest story is lighter and, it seems John is more at peace with his life-I hope I got that right. ♥
John has matured with every album, and I love it. The best part about it is, there are becoming less and less little girl fans that I have to see and "hear"...

He is obviously showing his influence by southern boy the GREAT JJ Cale who wrote at least one piece on the album. JJ taught Clapton, Knopfler, and many great others ... he sorta created that lovely flow of sound. Once you have heard JJ you never forget him and hear him everywhere in other peoples' work he was / is just that good.
One of the greatest things about Mr. Mayers music, is that it doesn't get a lot of views like Timberlake, Bieber etc. But those who view this video is truly in love with this unique music!
You know what?If you were a true fan of him you wouldn't say that,you would respect what he is now,because people change.And I really hope you change instead of being the jerk you are.We know he is exploring other styles,and our musical taste just expanded a lot because of him.Wouldn't it be boring if he was always the same?He is one of those musicians with true talent,if you can't appreciatte it just go away,YOU are going through a boring phase.Love John!Can't wait for the new album!

You think that John doesn't make "soulful" music anymore because his voice no longer can??? No he is obviously an evolving artist, and it's just not his thing anymore, And he believes and I also believe that this music he has been putting out is exactly what he wants, Sure we all love his past albums but that's why they are called past albums, they are in the past and this new music describes him far better than what he used to sing. He has absolutely become a better man
