Loved the old Ch4 racing team of John mcCririck, John francome, Lord Oaksey, Brough Scott, Jim McGrath and Derek Thompson..... they informed, had a giggle, and entertained.....great times

Yes but J Weaver knows his stuff. Only jockey to ride over 200 winners in a season and not be champion jockey. Frankie beat him that year and is still as good as ever imo.
The only man I ever saw with the jewels to challenge Ruby Walsh on live TV. His type are a dying breed and the world is becoming a worse place because of it. RIP John. Long live freedom of speech.

Morph 1981 I agree. Love him or loath him , he is fascinating. PC Britain has spoiled good tv and unfortunately it's here to stay. Take me back to the 80's & 90's.
John was such a larger than life character who made horse racing absolutely fun, and it’s not the same without his hilarious (if sometimes controversial) anecdotes. RIP
He was a character they seem to chase off characters from the main channels in England on tv thesedays. He was entertaining as was Brian Clough characters. People are desperate for bland middle of the road pc Alan Titchmarsh or Gary Lineker types.
I loved Channel 4 racing every saturday with the morning line then the afternoon racing was only 4 but i was hooked still am to this day they need mcririck on ITV Racing
It's such a shame people of the calibre of John McCririck, John Francombe, Fat Al, Derek Thompson and the female aren't on anymore. I used to get out of bed early Saturday morning for the entertainment. I never get up for the new crowd because they're boring as fuck. The only one I enjoy is Chapman. You don't appreciate what you have until it's gone. Thanks John and your racing family for giving me many years of fantastic entertainment.
