I grew up as a young child listening to these artists.. I even sent JLP an email when I was 8 or so asking for advice as a young musician. He emailed back a long letter of encouragement. I haven't heard these artists in many years and hearing them is bringing tears to my eyes and a flood of energy to my heart. Thank you for this.

I think this is the most beautiful musical performance I've ever seen. All such legendary artists, and Mahavishnu John is so deeply spiritual, and they play this incredible song in this ancient city with the stone facade backdrop. LOVED

To have been there to experience this…. No words for this. You see the eyes communicating wordlessly where the musicians are going, what they are feeling. Thank you.

This song awakes and begins to move as a person does after a long slumber! Nothing rushed, just stretching and observing the surroundings! Musicianship and stagecraft, these men have gone past conscious decisions and thoughts!

John McLoughlin and Zakir Hussain have a symbiotic relationship stretching back to 1974. This is a Shakti reunion of sorts, Shakti being the incredible band he formed with violinist Shankar, the Indo-Jazz fusion version of the Mahavishnu Band.

@@russellreising4294 I would like to have seen the original Shakti. I did catch the reunion line up in 1999 at the Barbican, but was somewhat disappointed because Shankar was no longer part of the band, and the tonal landscape was completely altered as JM played electric and not his unique custom built veena, which was lost on the 70s, apparently. That veena propelled the original group's sound.
