He was there because he was waiting for his son or wanted to reminisce because he might have forgotten he died or just wants to believe he will be back
I'm replaying Red Dead Redemption 2 again and in the sister Calderon missions he keeps telling her he's a bad person but she keeps telling him she doesn't believe that. And then she says I'll still think of you in very nasty terms, as you wish. The whole interaction goes to show how Arthur sees himself in contradiction to how he's viewed by others (at least in the honorable play through)
@@JCRenEven with low honor she says the same things to Arthur which is supposed to be part of his inspiration to be better. She’s in rdr1 and survives the events of undead nightmare. I think she is a divine entity like the strange man & that might be why he left Arthur alone, cuz she found him first. I do like the Reverend’s interaction at the train station better tho tbh, to get that you can’t meet the sister at all tho.
Rains fall story is literally so depressing I couldn’t bring myself to find him again as John. I felt so genuinely awful about his sons death and just his general misfortune that i knew finding him again would be worse than where he was left off after Dutch fucked him and his entire tribe over for nothing.
I literally laughed so freaken hard with you saying dutch fucked him and his entire tribe lol because its so true and i can feel the emphasis in that lol. dutch was a coward
@@anotherfacelessname9270 So many people seem to just ignore this and pretend that all the bad things that happened in the game were Micah's fault, this was all Dutch
@@etanb1 Dutch was always crazy his ideal life is literally robbing banks and shutting in streams, his stuff about living free from civilisation is just nonsense he espouses to take in young directionless people and raise them like his own cultists
I feel like John was more for the low honour path....I don't know why I just find it really difficult to be a bad person with Arthur.... I feel he never really was bad to begin with
@@liamsimpson2702 I let him be a low honor is the first couple chapters. It helps sell the moment he first contracts TB. It's when Jack goes missing that I have Arthur turn to being middle ground bc he thinks about how all their actions affects Jack. Then it's when he returns from Guarma and learns of his TB that he's fully a good honor Arthur, trying to make the rest of his life helping others as much as he can.
@@liamsimpson2702 he was definitely bad, he only started redeeming himself after he found out he had TB, not saying he wasn't good by the end of the story, but he started out as a bad guy

@@kennford I don't understand why you and so many other people in this comment section think "early stages of dementia" means "forgets literally everyone they know and everything that happens to them" His son is extremely emotionally significant to him; the way dementia works and progresses, that kind of thing is important.
@@DeathBroDamn420 I thinking as a prequel. Before the events of Valentine. It’d give more background to Rain Falls and his people before the events of RDR2.
“He saved my life, he gave his” “That doesn’t surprise me…one bit” ❤ Rains fall knowing how honorable a man Arthur was that he not surprised he laid down his life for his friend.
Most people aren't addressing the fact that he's displaying signs of dementia, it makes this scene even more saddening Edit : Tired of people replying without reading the replies, you aren't saying anything new
@@hy2707 His tribe is in Canada but he’s all the way down in Annesburg, and he says he’s down here for his son but I think that could be interpreted as him visiting Eagle Flies’ grave
Imagine that rainfalls is getting dementia and hes in the early stages of it, thinking his son is still here. Along with the reason why he is there. He might be in a sort of dementia delirium, not too much but just enough to get lost
He remembers John who he never even met and also remembers Arthur. I seen people theorizing this but doesn't make to much sense imo. I think even after this they keep talking and he knows his son's dead. You never know tho rockstar likes to add details like this
Guys you do realise that stage 1-2 arent really that bad in dementia, i work with a bloke whos about 2 years past his diagnoses and this is exactly what he's like. He gets into weird delirium states where he knows what to do and what the end goal is, but doesnt know how to fully execute things He also goes on delirium episodes like this where hes not fully out of it, just wondering why something is happening the way it does. Also he repeats himself 24/7
@@spaghettisauce1104 you guys realise that dementia isnt "you loose the ability to recognise people" right? I have multiple people who have dementia in my life and all of them will remember your face, personality but not your name or your jobs. Its really weird that an american indian forgets things. Esspecially mundane things such as names
Arthur’s death made me so sad that I played one mission of the epilogue, deleted all of my save files, and restarted the game just to see him alive and well again. If that’s not good character writing then I don’t know what is
I havent even played to the end yet, and i lost my old account where i was getting near his death so i had to restart and im just procrastinating as long as i can, doing all the stanger missions and things i think he would have enjoyed. They put a lot of effort into this story and its characters, im impressed. Rest easy Arthur. Also, dont be too bothered by that other comment, some guy tried to start a fight with me yesterday because i said i thought Arthur was a generally better man over John. Like chill, its a fictional character, were all allowed to enjoy it and have our opinion on it. Stop being rude.
As a Native myself, I’ve always greatly appreciated the way they honestly depicted Natives having their land taken and being segregated into reservations as well as the carelessness of people and the government for their situation, especially as it feels nowadays that largely no one ever talks about us, even though many of the same problems are happening till this day, some might even argue it’s worse than ever, alcoholism, depression, poverty, drug use, even murder and human trafficking, that’s not to say that you can necessarily blame anyone today, we’ve been put into this situation long ago and we’re left to wallow in it, but the fact that no one seems to acknowledge it besides the Natives who were strong enough to make it off the “Rez” is absurd, especially with how “woke” we as a society say we’ve become, I don’t mean to ask for pity, or sympathy, as a few people on the internet definitely won’t make a difference, I just want more awareness to this problem, so that perhaps the word may travel and one day help someone in need, take care all, I hope you’ve had a wonderful holiday 🙏
You’ve summed that up pretty well honestly brother, I say the same stuff on here just to try and get people to acknowledge these things that happened, it’s crazy how there’s so many people out there who’ll still say racist stereotypical things about our people though , many in fact who don’t even know we still exist and just think of us as those characters in the movies and shows but it’s definitely better nowadays. That show Reservation dogs on Disney plus is honestly such a good representation of our people and way of life nowadays
@@exilemorin04 it’s simple ignorance, you can’t blame most people for that as they’ve been raised in a certain way and around certain people, though it is still offensive nonetheless, all we can do is inform and hope they’re open-minded enough to be willing to understand, which is hard considering America is known for it’s ignorance even if we preach of freedom and equality, and I agree, that show has made strides in portraying Natives today, as well as few other media in recent times, which I’m very appreciative of, even recently they’ve changed Columbus Day to “Indigenous People’s Day” which is also wonderful to get rid of the misconceptions that Columbus was at all a good man, hopefully there is more like this to come, stay safe brother, happy holidays to you and your loved ones ❤️
from the Rose Bud Sioux tribe here, your words cut deeply brother but they are honorable and the ancestors would be proud of our resilience despite the evils of men around us
@@jacobguangorena9782 Heyy same tribe brother, I don’t mean any malice or offense, I just mean to speak honestly of the things I’ve seen and heard, I also believe describing it in unfiltered detail is the only way to truly get most to listen, I want nothing more than for our people to thrive and have peace once more, so pardon my way of bringing attention to it as I’ve grown a little bitter on the topic over the years, and I have no doubt our ancestors are proud of our resilience, so many other people and cultures have been lost to time so regardless of our predicament we are very fortunate, I believe we will thrive once again, perhaps not now but soon, and our legacy will no longer just be stories of the past Take care brother, I hope only the best for you and your loved ones
It is heart wrenching to watch Rains Fall beg the young men of his tribe to not fight with the oil company, and as they ride past him all he can do is ask them to please stop.
@@-_caioworld_-re969back in the day the canadian goverment portrayed their country as native friendly in opposition to the us. They talked about their reservations and education system but in reality a lot of them were dedicated to erase their identity and "civilize" them with help of the catholic church. A lot of natives were tortured and killed because of it.
@@BowserFilthFederationYeah, everyone is so gung-ho on dementia. He might just be aimless and can't bring himself to not continue visiting his son frequently.
When he said they were just families now it truly broke my heart. Indigenous people deserve so much more than they got. Never stop fighting for and supporting Indigenous Rights.
How bout send us Apaches some bottled water, our chairmen are sucking out pockets dry. Won't even help out people without clean drinking water since the first lockdown. Kept people locked up in hotels if they tested positive and supplied inhumane rations of water and food, just like back in the day but it's our own leaders doing it to us.
@Vol Tron By what metric? Who's authority? Diplomacy is also a better system than invasion and genocide but thats not what "modern systems" decided for indigenous people. Understanding and cooperation are superior to persecution and subjugation, but we didn't choose that either. Were not the enlightened ones. Were the savages living on the land of the people we tricked, raped and killed. Compared to that, the worst thing tribalism has ever done seems trivial. So the least you can do when someone laments for those poor poor souls, is nod your head and keep your mouth shut out of respect.
@@GuitarSlayer136 wrong. It was mainly their inability to domesticate animals that led to weak immune systems. Not to mentioned plenty of Tribes raped and pillaged almost nonstop with other tribes
I think Rains Fall and Charles Smith are the people that influenced Arthur the most. They were the ones that told him that since he knows he is dying soon, he should embrace it and try to good deeds and be a good person to everyone before he passes and that gave him his redemption that he was chasing.
Damn bro this man literally has one of the saddest stories right next to Arthur and John. He’s truly a slept on character that seen and been thru a lot with his tribe but yet he stayed so humble and grateful and down to earth like a true Native American. One of my favorite characters of all time respectfully 💯
Rains Fall seems like he was based on the real Native 'Chief', Sitting Bull. Real history being more interesting and entertaining than fiction, you should look him up and have a good read!
As we saw in the credits, he came for his boy and stood on a mountain and looked over New Hanover and there was an eagle flying off above him and he looked at the eagle flying and probably went through all his memories with his son in that moment
RDR2 is by far one of the best games of all time. It's emotional, impactful and just so great. I remember when someone told me that Arthur will get sick and eventually die if you continue the story mode... I couldn't bring myself to do anyone missions for weeks...
Arthur was the probably the greatest protagonist I’ve ever played as in a video game. The honorable Arthur is just a straight up good dude. Even if he has his harsh ways of putting a point across or he’s not a super slick talker, when he speaks you listen. And you feel it. His words could cut a diamond sometimes man. Hands down the greatest protagonist ever.
I remember when this game first came out and it blew my mind I felt like it was near photorealism even showed my grandparents the tech . Super weird to actually see age on the face textures even though it's only a 4 year old game .
The character models still hold up very well imo, i recently played through it for the first time and it had me gripped from start to finish (yes, even the epilogue that some people dislike)
When i saw rainfalls as john and then they were talking i almost cried but it was happy tears not sad tears Edit 1: wtf is happening i just said it was sad seeing him without his son lol

When people ask who my favorite red dead character is my mind always goes to Arthur or Charles or even Hamish Sinclaire. But boy do I love Rains Fall. He's such a sweet, kind, wise character. He's like Yoda
Currently taking a class on the history of the American West and have been replaying rdr2 while doing so. Rains Fall was always one of my favorite characters but now I think his storyline is the best part of the game.
I’m very happy with the maturity rockstar handled these topics like the Native Americans. It’s no secret the suffering we directly or indirectly caused them like Dutch did. I’m glad they gave you the choice to help them.
I loved rains fall. Native americans have always been real close to my heart and their struggles have resonated with me deeply. It's in my blood, and I've dated a few women but one really opened my eyes to how they're really treated in Canada and it was great to see media showing the warts and all portrayal of the past
Not be random but did you know Mexico has the largest Population of Indigenous Americans? My Beloved Mexico has 36.4 Million of them now every indigenous group in Mexico actually Speak their indigenous languages by the Millions instead of Spanish and they still celebrate their traditions and cultures in Mexico and another thing they don’t live in reservations since almost most of the Indigenous groups still have the same lands that their ancestors use to have before them. But now I’m will tell you about something unfortunate, around 98% of the Indigenous live in absolute poverty and are often discriminated for the color of their skin and for not speaking Spanish, depending on where they live especially in Mexico City and another thing most of them can’t access to medicine.
It's not that Canada treats my people better there's just more wilderness and space to actually practice our traditions, and to really heal. Yet with the TransCanada pipe and all that it is hard, but there's more community than what people think.

I mean his mannerisms do look a little confused especially when John asks what he's doing there, I think he has early stages and forgot he went to visit his son momentarily
“He looks confused” how? Also if he had dementia how would he recognize John from seeing him only once in the main story in the background too? He doesn’t have dementia or show any signs he says he doesn’t know because he doesn’t want to bring up exactly why he’s there but it could also be he doesn’t know why after all these years he goes back to relive a traumatic moment in his life. So by pure coincidence, every time I have had this encounter with Rains Falls in my epilogue, It is always closer to mid day and sun set, meaning that the sun is always behind me, creating a looming shadow over John. A lot of the time I enjoy wearing Arthur’s hat for the remembrance, and when You play this cutscene with John surrounded by the setting sun light, his figure and facial features are almost unrecognizable. If You play this scene around the later portions of the day, with Arthur’s Hat, You will end up looking very familiar to Arthur in that moment. I like to think that Rains Falls originally thought it was Arthur Morgan in that moment, rather than it being John Marston, his closest friend and most similar counterpart.
