Least these ‘guests’ are well informed of current affairs & are friends too so the chats are a pleasant way to pass the time.
Who knew pics of Bill Clinton hugging Epstein's teenage girls wouldn't be as funny as Prince Andrew. Personally I thought they were funnier but I lack a real sense of humor. Kind of like how TV lacks any real news.

@@blackwater4707 I just like it when people I like go up in my estimation John Oliver is originally from 10 mins down the road from me he moves to America becomes a citizen and knocks it out of the park almost every time
I'm so grateful that we have people like John Oliver that are not afraid to speak about the truth you guys are our voice we want to scream from the mountaintops the things that you have been saying but we can't be heard and we are so grateful that you are being heard.
@Christian Xander James Yeah especially compared to cable news hosts like Seth that are approved by big defense companies and other "advertisers" that decide Seth's opinion on the latest issue.
Cause Sinclair network owns HBO now and admitted he would be stifled by the network. Then A month later you could see the propaganda they were pushing. Now we all know his show is apart of the propaganda machine thanks to him telling us he wasn't going to have a choice if he wanted to keep a job

When he appeared on the screen I was like "hey that's my buddy John Oliver!" Then I had to remind myself that no, we are not buddies, in fact I don't know him at all and he isn't even aware of my existence. It's just the kind of face and body language he has, instantly friendly.

The realization that his wife was so unprotected while over there must have sent chills. Could have just as easily not been around simply because of that crappy van.
Our witness claims she didn't see any crime at that time. She's blind yes, but we have another that didn't hear any gunshots. He's deaf, yes, but why is that important?
I love John Oliver, his delivery is so unique. He’s right about reported cases of the virus. My state was claiming no cases at the exact time I was laying near death’s door at home because there were no tests and no treatment 😕
@@DMills-un1tl I'm so glad you've recovered. As far as catching it again, from the little I've seen about it, it is probably rare, like the kid who catches chicken pox twice. I'm an Aussie and WE knew six weeks ago (or is it more? less? no sense of time atm) that the US had it badly. At that stage every new, unrelated case that was reported here had flown in from the US in the previous week or so. I remember talking to relatives and saying the US must have tens, probably hundreds, of thousands of cases that they are denying by not testing. Aussies were getting angry at the US because it was vastly increasing our number of cases and our risk.
Fiona Anderson That sounds about right. I have a first hand witness who told me she was notified by the government that it was here in early December. Trump really screwed this up, leaving the world exposed.
@@DMills-un1tl that does not surprise me at all. With the number of confirmed cases from so little testing there had to be many cases long before it was admitted there were any. Just looking at it mathematically you've got to wonder if it wasn't already common in the US before China had noticed they had weird pneumonia cases.

Even if there were parts of Florida with absolutely no cases, lifting restrictions is exactly how you change that statistic anyway. I don't understand what people don't get about this...
But people can't hide in their homes forever. Sorry, but this thing is going to be around for a long time. We can't afford to stay closed for a year. We simply can't
@@rpheasant3995 Then learn where to properly place that blame. How about the man in charge of the country who denied the existence of the virus and called it all a hoax until it was too late? How about a broken government system that cares more about making money for its richest citizens than the lives and safety of all the others? How about all the idiots ignoring isolation rules? How about all the states that still haven't even set any of those rules? If everything had shut down completely at an appropriate time, and people actually followed the rules, then we would actually be at a point of discussing re-opening now. We love you Johnny Ollie. Sunday nights are what we as a family look forward to, to make sense of the week that got even stranger when you thought it couldn’t. To make us laugh when we want to cry in despair. To give us hope. To tell it like it is. Want to thank you for entering your white void and presenting your show in what must be the strangest circumstances. It must be weird presenting your weeks work to utter silence, but know, we are at the other end laughing and cheering. We are here. We are listening. And watching. And we are grateful. Seth I know this is your channel and I just bombed it, but please pass this on to JO if you can. Cheers matey
Does John Oliver just live on the astral plane or something? He made a really good point about the similarity with how we went into Afghanistan and Iraq. I had never thought about that, but it's 100% true.
I really does seem like these invasions are launched first, and it's only when the army has arrived to where its going, that they start thinking about what they need to stay there.
Honestly, I would watch these guys do episodes where they interview their wives for an hour. Each of them sound incredibly interesting. Ed: to be fair, it's be even better if they interviewed each others wives.
I went to war with canvas doors on my hmmwv, training filters in my gas mask, and a lieutenant colonel that said "the troops are fungeible as long as I get my bird." I feel her pain. High five from a distance for her and all of you guys as well.
@rebecca gerringer Could you see what the one without the book jacket was? After Thorn Birds, there was Shogun and then a Mario Puzo novel (Last Don?).
I'd just like to say that I'm an essential worker in a call center that handles enrollments for the Affordable Care Act. I have not been able to spend time with my children in over 4 weeks because their mother and I decided it was safer for them if they stayed with her because she can work from home. I am grateful to have that kind of awesome parenting relationship with her. I want to thank these guys for doing what they can with what they have to keep the public informed and entertained when they really don't have to. They could very easily just hang it up for 3 months like every other canned popular culture "artist" has done, but this proves they are people with big hearts in positions of privilege that understand the dynamic of what they have access to and wish to use it for good. I have been very lonely. I've never been away from my children for this long. Seth I haven't followed you much since you left SNL, but you were always one of my favorites and John the best 20 minutes of my week for the last month has been spent on porn hub and then watching your show for the ensuing 20 minutes every Monday evening ... so thank you. P.S. Seth, I'll catch up ;)
Why R ppl hating on Seth and John Oliver??!! THEY(with Stephen Colbert and Trevor Noah), deserve ALL THE PRAISE for keeping us sane, much UNLIKE the “president”, that is a w*ore attention seeking thirsty b*iatch!!! They R talented, funny and charming, both in their own way, and how cute were Seth’s boys at the end, awwww So if U don’t like them don’t watch, but stop hating on them, because to me, they are the REAL HEROES, alongside all medical personnel and essential workers!!! Love U guys, stay safe, 😘❤️

I find it frustrating that all the news and talk mention the numbers but not what it actually means or says about the situation. It's worse than the initial reports estimated already, as the total confirmed cases near 2,000,000, there are currently 112,000 confirmed deaths which equates to roughly 6% of all confirmed cases result in death, of all confirmed cases so far 470,000 have recovered that's only 25% that are confirmed to have recovered. That means that 75 % of confirmed cases were tested and sent home or are still in hospital, and will hopefully recover but that may also mean that there are a lot of people who may be dead at home and have yet to be counted or associated with the virus as they didn't die in hospital. Until everyone is vaccinated which doesn't exist yet all talk of relaxing things should be put to bed for the foreseeable future, because the numbers are far higher than we currently know are infected and once counted the current 6% death rate will probably get higher, not to mention like the Measles which can come back in the form of Shingles we have no idea what the long term effects of this may be, so even if you recover, you may have lasting respiratory problems from your first bought with it, and it may flair back up down the road, that's why we all need to stay apart and wear masks and wash our hands. Just because you get a clean test doesn't mean you can't get infected 2 minutes later. This has been transferable while people are asymptomatic. That means that you can infect others or be infected by others without them showing any signs they or you may have it and you stay infectious right through the process. Remember this is a virus like all the wonderful STD's that you catch and never really get rid of so everyone should practice safe distancing practices if you don't want to catch a new, highly infectious, not yet fully understood Viral Infection, not a bacterial infection that can be killed with antibiotics. Sorry but people have been glossing over the numbers and math is data and data reflects the facts. People need to be shocked back into reality as the original death toll was estimated to be 1.6 % roughly and based on the actual numbers we currently have, that percentage has gone up to 6% and that only reflects the confirmed cases. Most cities haven't even started doing door to door checks yet, neighborhoods etc. When you hear about all these people who were turned away from being tested because their symptoms weren't bad enough then were admitted when they got bad enough and then recovered there are all those other cases where the person didn't go back to hospital or just the fact that they later get tested and shows they had it means they were walking around spreading it because they didn't know. Don't fool yourself this is just starting and it's going to be brutal all over the world, people should be locking down not even thinking of relaxing restrictions.
I've always said you can at least take those numbers and increase them tenfold, at least. Also, another thing agree with John on..."Oh, you would never send a soldier to war without gear..." LOL!! The US does it all the time, you can count on the fact that they won't have what they actually/really need. At times, servicemembers have to by their own gear! I know, my husband is a Major in the Marine Corps, and the lack of gear is infuriating at times. Think the Gulf War, see the kinds of diseases and issues the military had. So, I'm not super surprised the medics don't have the gear.
Trust me, I had a staff member that served and I was constantly sending medical equipment to the Middle East when he was there! He contacted me in a panic! “Anne their amputating with a giggley saw!” I was shipping on a weekly basis! Corporate partners were picking up the tabs! So yeah, believe it!
Well the truck can probably be explained by tradition. The more European ideology of medics are neutral, if you see one you should not shoot them and it is a war crime to do so. That ideology falls apart outside of Western countries. They see medics are the guys who save the enemy lives, so kill them to. So over time the medic vehicle probably was pulled out of service cause it was designed and deployed on the philosophy that medics don't need an armored vehicle to roll around in because they are in less danger (Still dangerous of course). Because who would intentional kill the medics? Now I have never been in the military but I have studied war History quite a bit, and I also understand the principle of if it ain't broke don't fix it. For instance our B-52 bomber, the level your country in a weekend plane is from the 50's, just been upgraded over time cause the replacements all failed. I Imagine the process was the same, until they realized that the people in the middle east don't care about our customs and then had to get them a "new" armored vehicle.
Thanks John, my spirit animal! When Seth said there was only one case in New York then, my brain instantly went, "One *confirmed* ! Big difference." 😬💁🏼
