The John P. Saylor Trail is a 17.5 mile loop trail located in Gallitzin State Forest in Pennsylvania. The main trailhead is located at the Babcock Picnic Area just off Route 56. This picnic area has restrooms and plenty of parking. The trail is composed of a 12.5 mile loop connected to a 5 mile smaller loop via a swinging bridge. The Saylor Trail is a superb beginner trail with plentiful water, minimal elevation, beautiful scenery, and nice camping. Hikers should know that normally the Saylor is rather wet and boggy in the sections along Clear Shade Creek. I highly recommend this trail to folks looking for an excellent first overnight backpacking trip. If you have any questions please let me know!
