To any of my Christian brothers and sisters out there, would somebody want to help a man out with some insight? I have a question for ya'll. How is one supposed to act with will and intentionality in the world if everything you privilege that isn't God himself is prone to being idolatry? How do you discipline yourself to study, flourish at your job or train at your sport with intense rigor if you are to be with Christ? How are you supposed to embrace life and strive with all you have at living effortfully if your first step out of the church doors is towards the world? Can you actually try at ANYTHING in this life that isn't waving your hand helplessly while others ACT? Why did Christ love losers more than winners? Was this automatic, such that it's better to be a worldly loser than to have idolatrous winning habits, or was it that the current winners of his time were corrupt, ie the phrase is contextual? Strict Christians, seemingly especially evangelicals, seem to have a way of degrading the world and the human spirit, whereas others, such as famous athletes who bring up faith in an interview, imply God as their very source of it. The latter, for example, train with all their might as if to do it for the glory of God, or as if their glory at their career is God's glory one and the same (through his faith), whereas the former seems to place God's glory as territorial and to make yourself dwindle in submission to. I'm not sure which interpretation is correct; the former scares me, as it seems to threaten my life-preserving instincts that I'm reluctant to deny, and frankly goes against all of my previously-held convictions towards personal responsibility, self-efficacy, will, sacrifice, ambition, nobility, etc. I don't plan on living this life as a loser who is now the winner because of a cheap slight of hand, a moral inversion wherein to be a grand person, to thrive in the world, to work hard and struggle, is flipped on its head, and portrayed as a form of evil profoundness. To be active, hungry for something, to strive, is now to be condemned by the person who is standing still for being weak and desperate in the first place. To want to do and become something, in this Christian view, is now weaker than the purity of wanting and doing nothing at all; if you're a true Christian, you should be fulfilled through Christ, and to do or strive for any more will threaten your salvation. Perhaps I missed something; I hope this faith doesn't promote this sort of message. I feel disappointed that it may be. I used to think this was so petty and weak-deed. It's the sort of thing the jealous and unsuccessful say in protest of the rich and successful, that after all their work and accomplishments, they were arbitrarily wrong. Morality is then passive in nature; it's what you DON'T do that gets you salvation, and in this respect, it's far too easy and boring. It's now better to be mediocre and not work hard, for anything that can get you working so hard must be an idol, and God hates idols that aren't him or Jesus. What do you all think? Did I get something wrong? If this is the case, that my idea is correct, I will still take Jesus and the Lord into my heart and learn to like it. But for now, and from the world, I hope not.
Did you ever get the answer? I'm asking myself the same thing. I'm worried about applying my mind to something that isn't prayer, Evangelism or Bible reading. I've always had the desire of sculpting my body. Bodybuilding. I've now given it up because of my fear of committing idolatry. All those years of training and now my achievements are going to nothing. I no longer have a Hobbie. Please let me know if you have the answer.
Maybe you guys could use those hobbies as avenues to spread the gospel. You put the Lord first in all your ways, when you meet people on the way (during your hobbies) the light of Christ will shine through you and could give you a way to speak about our savior. Jesus said his burden is easy and his yoke is light, there are a lot of ways our brains tend to over complicate the simplicity of the gospel. Never forget you have open access to speak to the LORD God through his son Jesus Christ. It's not idolatry unless you're putting something over the Lord or bowing to a false god, I'm a new Christian so maybe something I've said is misspoken but if youve accepted Christ as you Lord he will not forsake you.

The word conscience is formed by two Latin words..con/with & science knowledge If you have ever had any take action against their conscience towards you, you know & judge the behavior as wrong Now is the time to understand that your conscience is God’s law on your heart (Romans ch 2) & you are guilty. A judge makes a ruling on violations of law, not compliance. A payment is necessary or else you go to jail. Spiritual jail is hell & you have no currency to pay God bc He has given & created all things Therefore accept Jesus’ offering on your behalf friend. He would have died just for you if you were the only one to believe bc He loves you. He was sinless bc He is God. He rose from the day on the third day (after taking the keys from hades & death) bc He is God. Accept His grace & be high on His Holy Spirit. It will put all them other drugs to shame. @@CJ-dt5mh I would dispute your first sentence, the knowledge of right and wrong is a product of our environment and not instilled in people's minds by the invisible guy in the sky. Natives in New Guinea were head hunters and cannibals right up to the 1950s, if children are taught that killing members of neighboring tribes, eating them and taking their heads is right then it wouldn't worry their conscience for their whole lives and therefore it would be right, however if they stole one of their own tribesmen's wives then they would be castigated by the tribe and killed, that is also considered right. FEELING GUILTY ABOUT BEING A SINNER? Well you don't have to worry anymore because there is no such thing as sin, it doesn't exist and you can now go about your life free from feelings of guilt, anxiety, paranoia, unworthiness and fear. Sin is a concept dreamed up by the purveyors of religion, its purpose is to keep you under control, make you fearful of a terrible future after your death, but most importantly sin was devised as a method of keeping you tithing to the parasites who have been keeping you in fear, the more money you paid them the less guilt and fear you felt. Laws are devised and legislated by Governments for the welfare and protection of their constituents, they are the only laws we need to observe. The multitude of religious laws called "sin" are not recognized by our Courts except where they are duplicated in common law. Laws that govern our citizens are not there because they have been written into that old contradictory book called the bible, they are there because of our needs for natural justice, they are debated and voted upon before being legislated or changed. If our laws were based on the concept of "sin" each and every one of us would spend a good deal of our lives in prison, thinking bad thoughts would be punishable by the State, looking at people of the opposite sex with desire would make us criminals, Etc. etc. etc. etc. So now that you are free from all those guilty feelings there is no need to give any more of your hard earned money to parasitic Preachers, Priests, Pastors or any church, you can keep it all, then you can begin enjoying your life doing all the things you were warned about by religious fanatics, you are instantly free of all their nonsense.

Hi the Lord has showed me that self is and has always been the greatest roadblock between us and God. the greatest idol ever built worshiped. God in His foreknowledge saw this as did Jesus but for their great love proceeded with their perfect creation. The Lord is holy righteous true merciful and LOVE

If the message of Jesus is forgiveness and love, why do ALL christians spend ALL of their time eagerly judging and persecuting others? What is a god? What is the definition? Do you agree or disagree: 1. god created EVERYthing 2. god KNOWS everything 3. god is all powerful and can do anything 4. god is perfect by definition and therefore cannot make mistakes Do you agree to all that? Then why pray? God can read your mind and already knows what you feel and think. If a god can do ANYTHING, why is there any need for books, churches, prayers, singing, prophets, preachers, bible study, religious debate, saviors, miracles, televangelists, signs, angels or any other nonsense? A god could and would communicate UNAMBIGOUSLY and LOGICALLY, directly to each individual. How do you account for the reality that there are literally dozens of churches who say emphatically that ALL the other churches are LIARS? How do you account for the literally hundreds of self contradictions within the christian bible? How do you account for the fact that there are literally dozens of versions of this supposedly perfect bible? Is there any difference between bowing down to an idol or standing up for an idol ? Whatever happened to the nation's idols of wood and stone ? Can you see the nation's idols high and lifted up on a flag pole, or are you blinded ?
