Just lost my father of 82. Spend time with your elders and the old and lonely. As he said sometimes just say "hello" John Prine. Every single song is a story about something real honest thought provoking. you may be uncomfortable listening to some as you explore his catalogue but all is beautiful Ina bittersweet way.if you need to "come up for air". Try in spite of ourselves.. duet. Like your reaction and comments. Keep digging
Wow Teez, this is unbelievable, your reacting to my favorite artist ever, Iv'e been listening to him for over 50 years and their is no other songwriter like him, Your one of only a few reactors to react to him. He has a catalogue of great songs that are amazing. For fun you should react to "In Spite of Ourselves". He is regarded by so many other artists as a genius which i totally agree with.
I was also going to recommend "In Spite Of Ourselves" :-)... my favorite version is the one from this same Session at West 54th performance (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P8tTwXv4glY.html). Iris DeMent can sing to me any day!
Prime Prine. Had the album, then 8 track, cassette, cd, now on my iPad. The soundtrack of my life. I lived with with a heroin addict in the 70’s and he would play “Sam Stone” on his guitar and I would sing with him. He never made it out but I did. ✌️
He died last year from complications with covid after surviving 2 bouts of cancer. The throat cancer changed his voice but still came out with a great album before he passed.
“Hello In There” was one of the first three songs Prine sang publicly when he impulsively got up from his seat in the audience during an open mic night at a club not far from where he was raised in Chicago and performed three songs he had personally written. The other two were “Sam Stone” and “Paradise” The songs were so incredibly well-received that not only did the club owner offer him a regular job on the spot, Prine continued to sing all three in his concert sets for the rest of his fifty year career, which ended with his death about a year ago in 2020. By the way, Prine’s best friend Steve Goodman was a little more established as a songwriter and personally knew Kris Kristofferson and the two would get together when Kristofferson was in Chicago performing. Soon KK was back in Chicago and late one night after Kristofferson had finished performing, Goodman insisted that he go with him to the club where Prine was singing and watch his friend perform. Kristofferson was blown away after listening to him perform his set, highlighted by those three songs above, and when Prine had finished, Kristofferson asked him to sing everything one more time. Not long after, Kristofferson took both Prine and Goodman to New York City and introduced them around and arranged for auditions. As a result of Kristofferson’s industry contacts and their successful auditions, Prine and Goodman were able to fly home to Chicago together with signed recording contracts. Lest I forget, awesome reaction video sir. I hope to return soon for more! 🧨
John Prine (RIP) is a songwriting genius. Some of the greatest songs ever. He's got some sad ones like this one and some fun ones, but all great ones. Some song suggestions from John would be Sam Stone, Souvenirs, The Great Compromise, Angel From Montgomery, Frying Pan, Take the Star Out of the Window, Everybody, Fish and Whistle to name a few... so many great songs!
We just lost John Prine to Covid; so sad. This is such a sad song. He was an amazing and prolific songwriter. One of my favorites is "Illegal Smile." Not sure, but I think that's just a stand-up bass played with a bow.
A legend! So highly respected and loved by musicians around the world. RIP. Stupid COVID. 😠 His songs are beautiful.... Try "Angel from Montgomery". or "Sam Stone"...
John Prine is your favorite songwriter's favorite songwriter. Roger Waters from Pink Floyd performed this song live, there's a great video of that. In 2019 John was inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame, and a whole bunch of famous musicians did videos about which John Prine song they liked the most. Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) said that his favorite is 'Far From Me,' which was also John's favorite out of everything he wrote. It's my favorite, too.
Great reaction! Thanks for checking it out. He was one of the best songwriters in the world in my opinion. That song was from his first album, he wrote it when he was in his twenties, first record came out in 1971. He was awesome .
John was in his early 20’s when he wrote this song. I believe he was still a letter carrier then. He was so insightful. I saw him in Chicago bars over 50 years ago.
One of the all time great song writers! This guy had a slew of physical trials he was dealt with in this life. He seemed to be a true asset to Gods creation. A catalog that if neglected a person would certainly miss out.
Not a cello. That is an acoustic stand up bass. Sometimes called a bass viol. Can be either plucked or bowed as it was here. Cello is smaller and the player sits behind it to play. Check out all of the selections from Sessions at West 54th. All are classic and that is a really good video. Good quality sound and picture. For some lighter stuff check out "In Spite of Ourselves". Hilarious.
He got the name Rudy because it was the name of his neighbors dog and she was always calling it. Rudy who he worked together with in the factory wirh in the song
try this John Prine video this is when he is older after he had cancer, it made his voice more gruff but I loved all his music I can't even think about this song without getting watery eyes(might just be my experiences though)(582) John Prine - Summer's End Official Video - RU-vid
You won’t regret these two: Billy Ocean "Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car" Seals “Crazy”.....BTW, make sure it’s the ‘young’ version of Seals or you’ll be wasting your time...Enjoy! 👍👍
One of the best from the best. I cry every time I listen to this song, so I was watching your face very closely for small expressions, and was frustrated that the huge microphone hid your mouth most of the time. Not sure if you always use that one, but if you do, maybe consider getting a much smaller mic - a reaction video is better when you can see all of the reactions - your face says more than your words.
Here ya go, two more John Prine (originally from Chicago area) from the live "Sessions" "Lake Marie" (said to be Bob Dylan's favorite Prine song): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Mkz8TnVQSOQ.html "In Spite of Ourselves," with Iris DeMent: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P8tTwXv4glY.html Originally a DVD, all the songs from it are on youtube. Search on "Sessions at West 54th". Doubt there's any threat of them being blocked. Watch all of them, FULL SCREEN, and note how good his lead guitarist. His most famous song is "Angel from Montgomery," "owned" by Bonnie Raitt. John Prine is the first famous person I heard of dying of COVID. Many of his LPs are on youtube, but all can be bought from his website.
Of all the great songs John Prine has it's almost always this song or Sam Stone being reacted to, the 2 songs I always skip when listening to this album.
Here's an idea. Handle your channel like a pro and work out your technical problems before you record. That way we don't have to listen to you talk all over the song while you worry about issues you should have solved before recording. How am I supposed to believe you are paying any attention to the song when you are talking and playing with your video feed? If you handled your channel like you cared about what you put out to the public you wouldn't be working this stuff out while the music you are reacting to is playing. One day you will figure out the difference between channels that have over a million subs and channels that have 28k is professionalism. You have one job. Reacting to music. If you aren't ready to do that then don't hit record.
