Its slightly irritating that he isn't more specific on which Spit engine (nor does the interviewer ask) As there are literally 4 spitfire engines. Mk 1 & 2 1147cc, Mk 3 1296cc Mk 4 1296cc (heavier internals no cam bearings) & the 1496cc.
Yes ,very interesting to hear about a slightly more relaxed style of racing, being 76 , I myself would like to be involved as well. And yes it,d be intereting to compare upgrades, having modified my own 1976, 1500 motor and suspention, brakes ,etc. I could have easily installed a Toyota drivetrane ,but modifying a stock 1500 with current engineering developments is ,to me ,a more interesting approach ,here in Canada .
