Funny thing -- in real life I believe Schneider painted over the rebel flag with an American flag on one of his General Lee's. I suppose that's just what a good Christian would do... but maybe as the racism baiting stuff continues to get worse and worse, maybe he now has a better perspective about what is at stake, and who stands to have their culture wiped away by the mob justice of the left -- and the society that says, "I don't know you but I'll ruin you if it lets me climb the online totem pole."
gdeangelkick You are incorrect. I never painted over the Rebel Flag in make believebor real life. Never happened. And, for the record, I resent the atatement that “That is what a good Christian would do.” Statementsnlike that keep people away from God in droves.
Symbols don't hurt people, people hurt people, and that flag on that car was a whole different symbol to a whole lot of fathers, sons and brothers that would watch this show together. To me that car and that symbol was going a little bit against the grain, outside the box to make sure things got done right with a little bit of excitement and a whole lot of heart! Hard to find that in today's cookie cutter, just good enough lifestyle of don't care about that's! Show some support, thumbs up if you agree. I'm a Duke boy and I support this message😉👍
Agreed, but logic does not work on these people. They would dox their own parents if they heard they laughed during Blazing Saddles. Nothing is more important then virtue signaling, and claiming victimhood for themselves, or others.
Wonderful comment! I saw a bumper sticker with the rebel flag and it said, "If you think this flag stands for racism, then you need a history lesson." Amen to the truth. ♥
Yep I grew up watching them, today the symbol means just good old boys never meaning no harm. I don't care what it was in the past because I don't live there
@@severedapex7413 It's closer to the truth to say Democrats hurt people. They always have a problem with everything and hate to see others enjoying themselves or being happy. The second they do they attack even if its another Democrat thats doing something enjoyable. Karens are all just female democrats.
I would be pissed if I orderred a GL and it came with the flag stickered over. Also, pretty sure nobody who would be orderring those cars in real life would cancel the order because of race-baiting. Nope, while I'm sure this film has a positive message, it's the same kind of delusional positive wishes that allow the fascist left to dominate the cultural narrative. So as much as it gets me gushing to hear Skynyrd playing off the good ol' boys, I'll have to pass on this film. Since in the real world, liberal nazi's operating with the anonymity of the Internet would toast to putting the guy out of doors and exacting "social justice" against him.
I've been a fan of Dukes since I was 4 years old in 1980. I've literally been watching it my whole life. I remember crying, as a 38 year old man, like a child, when I heard of James Best's passing in 2015. I have a police belt with holster he autographed. My dog was named Rosco. To me these people/characters feel like family and Dukes is more than just an old TV show, it's been a huge part of my life. It has broken my heart what "they" have done, not only to this great show, but as a Southerner, to this flag in general. Thank you so much Mr. Schneider for this movie, and for being an advocate for our beloved Dukes of Hazzard. I can't wait to see it.
@@mike91815 I met Ben Jones in Virginia in the late 90s and have an autographed photo. Mr Jones was an absolute gentleman, and a gentle giant. Born in 1975, this show was a very important piece of my childhood and I am sickened to see the modern day mis-representations of ideas and "symbols" from the show. The great George Carlin said "I will leave symbols to the simple-minded". Nothing in this show racism. The only thing not tolerated, was lack of respect for law abiding, simple folk, moonshiners!
Well said sir. Our paths are similar. I love the Dukes and all they represent. Like many other people’s stories, they have got me through tough times. They are truly family.
This oughta boost your spirits: I worked on the Smallville crew alongside John for quite a few years. Got to know him well. He's as you see him in this movie. Genuine, real, kind. Couldn't ask to meet a nicer guy.
John Schneider I looked up to you growing up. Wether it was Dukes reruns or on Smallville. You were and still are a great person to look up to, I was also raised Conservative. Thank you for all the entertainment you put out in this day and age. Go Dukes! Woooohoooo!
The General and the Duke boys take me back to a time when the most important thing in life for me was riding my Mongoose BMX with my mates and doing stupid but harmless stuff. Y'all take care now... Cheers from Sydney Australia
I´m happy to say that in the 21 century i´m probably one of the few kids who watched the dukes of hazzard series since the first episode to the last . I live in Portugal and the show passed about a year ago in a channel where it plays old tv shows and i was lunching and i looked at the tv and i was like that´s the General and my parents told me that was the series of the dukes of hazzard and that it was preety cool and tha they watched it when they were kids and they loved it . I have seen all the seasons and i don´t regret it ! Thank god for creating that show :D
If you want to see this movie, you really should see Christmas Comes to Willow Creek...starring John and Tom Wopat!!! My family watches it all thru the year...LOVE it!!!
I'm only 15 but I've seen every episode of the dukes of Hazzard plus the 2 reunion movies and I've loved them all they have been teaching me lesson every since I was 4 and I'm glad John has decided to make this movie. It will also helps explain the way I feel about the flag to my friends and family. Thank you John
I absolutely loved watching The Dukes of Hazzard growing up. It was one of the best family friendly shows that was on TV in both syndication and reruns hands down. I look forward to watching this movie with my kids just as I watched the TV show with my family.
The dukes of Hazzard was a big part of my childhood. It has alot of lessons about greed and how to treat people. It was shameful that the show was taken away so I could enjoy those shows with my children. I was more than happy to pre order my copy of this film to enjoy with my sons this holiday season. Thank you John for realizing what this show meant to so many kids in the 80s. I can't wait for my copy to enjoy with my boys this holiday season!
@@christcarsandcountry6812 Dude, you're dense and slow on the uptake. The Dukes of Hazzard isn't only about John Schneider. Quit being some foolish shill and get a life.
Lauren incorrectly stated that Byron was the only DOH cast member to appear in the movie, and@@christcarsandcountry6812correctly pointed out that John Schneider (the lead actor in the movie) was a DOH cast member. She probably meant to say that Byron was the only OTHER cast member to appear, but CCAC's reply was correct. Don't be a j@ck@$$ and fault him/her for being right.
I bought this movie for my grandmother's birthday and we couldn't wait to watch it but all I have to say is that it's low quality and definitely not worth its money. If John wants my complete review on this, I be glad to provide it for him.
John I only live a few miles away in Denham Springs and as many times as I've tried to come visit, something always seems to get in the way. Family, primarily work for the most part. Hopefully one day I get to make time to visit and shake the hand of an idol I've had since a child. And I'd like to say Thank you. Nothing brings back memories as a kid than watching Dukes. Again, thank you.
I would love one of those cars autographed by John. I treated my first car like the General E Lee. The driver’s window was always down so I could jump in and go. I sometimes would race it. It was a Ford Pinto, 1986
Love you John!!! In a Brother type way!!! I watched you as a kid...turned me into a Mopar guy! Well,my Dad had a and still has his Cuda but anyways Great to see you still rockin' the General!!
Mr. Schneider: I have been a fan of the Dukes Of Hazzard since I was a child. I saw the show when it was brand new and of course always loved the General Lee. It is still one of my dream cars to this day. I also own all 7 seasons on DVD and still watch them periodically. As well as I have a bunch of Dukes Of Hazzard collectibles. (too many to list) I am also a Christian like you are and do the best that I can. This movie looks interesting and I am thinking about getting it. God Bless you John and thanks to you and everybody that brought joy and excitement into our lives and living rooms. Yee Haw!!
@@JohnSchneiderStudios Thank you man. I just ordered it, what a deal for your autograph! You were always my favorite Duke! Sure would be cool to meet you someday. Take care.
I still have one of those to this day, have six different General Lee cars in different sizes from micro machine size to 1/16 scale model kit that I built and plan on building more. also planning on building a version of him from Happy Birthday General Lee and when he was painted green.
As a huge Dukes fan. I fully support John and his movie and message. Going to start spreading this around and try to get others to watch also. Met John and Tom many years ago and both guys were just as nice as can be.
John it is nov and my mother who is 75 and my self enjoyed watching dukes and you and your brother Mr Tom did a movoe with Mr Holt called Christmas comes to willow creek and my with was born in Ildian and now lives in Canada and never saw that movie and we both tolded her it is the greatest movie out there with others like convoy all John Wayne movies Thank you for letting a kid that could not read or write watch a great show about how to love your family neitbours and at 20 went to privet school and had a grade 2 education and after learning from you all on the show lnworked hard and wentnfeom grad 2 to grad 11 in 4 years bring back the movie Christmas comes to willow Creek James Buchanan
I watch Dukes of Hazard with my kids, it's on Prime. Still a great show and my kids love it. I teach my oldest, who is 10 years old, about the ACW and what it was fought for in the beginning and what the war stood for at the mid-end. The flag doesn't offend my family, we respect that it's a part of our history whether good or bad.
After waiting for a far too long time to watch this movie, I'll also provide my review of it as everyone here has done in this comment section. John had requested for our feedback so here goes.. To begin with, I was well-aware that this is a DVD movie and John has clarified that it's on a tight budget so fair enough. I can enjoy blockbuster Hollywood movies as well as smaller budget indie ones. Both genres have their own charm. Regardless of the tight budget, the acting could have been way better and sadly it was way below mediocre. Lorelei Linklater and Jency Griffin Hogan did all they could but the rest were so awful that the overall team simply fell flat. The worst acting came from Mindy Robinson and there was absolutely no chemistry between her and her love interest, John Schneider (in the movie, apparently..). It's a shame that John didn't hire a credible co-star like he had done in the past with Laura Cayouette (she was amazing in "Hate Crime" and "Like Son"). The overall acting from the rest, especially from Mindy Robinson, was static, tedious and forced thus making the movie insufferably corny and unnatural. Secondly, I'll refer to the story-writing which as a concept on its own it seemed intriguing and that's why I wanted to watch it on screen. In theory it was OK but in practice it turned out nonsensical and in most cases naive. Whilst John's directing skills were adequate in 'Like Son', 'Anderson Bench' and 'Inadmissible', he lost the plot (no pun intended) in the direction of this movie. On a final note, the stunts were fine and I didn't mind at all that the General Lee got "beheaded" and turned into a convertible. lol This was my critical review of this movie. Hopefully, John's new projects will be of better quality than this specific movie. Low budget movies shouldn't be low quality movies. The emphasis is on acting and if that fails, then so does everything else.
My family and I watched the movie a few hours ago. The story was interesting considering that it's partly based on real events. The acting though wasn't good at all. It was more like a school play.
I just got done watching Christmas cards and I so love this movie I will recommend it to anyone and everyone this movie is like watching The Dukes of Hazzard all over again he really get into the show are you feel all the emotions everybody in the movie does my hats off to everyone that played a role in this movie to John Schneider for filming and directing and making the movie and for Alicia for being his smile and bringing happiness back to his life
The Dukes of Hazard was the one show I looked forward to as a kid even in my teens. I always wanted to be a Duke boy lol. I always saw in this show a good ol boy out look on life, never once did I see any racism or hate of any kind even Boss Hogg was just funny! as well as Roscoe P Coltrane was just funny as all heck . Thank you for many years of exiting fun and laughter!!! I even made myself a General back in the early 80's as a young man lol
Mr. Schneider, I grew up with the DOH in the early 80s and even saw you in person back when you came and did the Stadium of Fire with your fictional cousin. You have always personified someone with dignity and class, with a healthy sense of fun. Thank you for making the programs you have been involved in.
I remember seeing John driving his General Lee on what used to be the back roads of Sevierville TN. He was a host fora short time a little game show that was in our little town. Sometimes we see Dolly driving her daddy's old pick up too. She wears an old ball cap and sunglasses but we know it's her
I'm a big fan ..all the way from sydney .nova Scotia .canada. we have one charger painted like the general Lee some people don't like it. .most of the black familys love it lol ...
The flag was a badge on the coolest car in the world, the flag to me was meant for fun and a bit of wildness. the show taught me family and friends were important. If someone came up to me and said any car you want you can have, it would the ol general with NOTHING changed. Thanks John for being there in my childhood it was fun. I'm pre-ordering mine
I watched the movie and was really disappointed. Why wasn't Tom or Catherine in this movie? You could at least have had Ben in this out of respect for the man. The Dukes of Hazzard isn't only about a single person; it's a collective effort based on team work coming from all of you and not just from one or two people. This is what made the Dukes of Hazzard so successful worldwide.
@@cynicalsatirist5566 It was meant to be a fun movie for all ages, not an Academy award nominee. It's cute and fun and addresses the problem the left wing socialists had with the Southern flag.
@@cheril8891 You have your opinion on this movie and I have mine. You may be pleased and satisfied with low quality b-movies but I am not. When I put in my hard earned cash to buy a movie, I don't necessarily expect it to be a 10/10 but I wouldn't want it to be a 2/10 as this low-budget b-movie is. This is also the reason why not a single credible movie critic is wasting any invaluable time on this piece of crap.
@@cheril8891 Glad you liked it but I'm gonna pass.. It's too expensive for a DVD. Maybe I'll give it a go when the price drops to a reasonable price. Besides, my wife and I love the Dukes of Hazzard so we preferred to buy the special box set from Amazon along with music from Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings.
So the 2005 dukes caught a bunch of s cause casting was rough, but you have to admit the chase scene in Atlanta was probably the best muscle car kicking a$$ scene ever
I just watched my dvd copy of Christmas cars tonight. It was a heartwarming and very awesome movie. We need more movies like this in this day and age! I love that the General is a Ford. LOL! Only those with the DVD will get that. 😁
@@bufordt.justice1539 Both John Schneider and Tom Wopat have been arrested for various sexual abuse and financial crimes. Not such good ole boys after all.
Starsn'Bars Thanks. I had no idea. Sexual abuse? Really?!? Hard to imagine them doing that. It’s much easier to think that perhaps it was #metoo type women looking to get easy and quick $$$ from them. Financial crimes are just as surprising. Were they tricked into something illegal and got unexpectedly caught in a crackdown? Or did Bo and Luke Duke really develop a true deceitful, dishonest, strike at the innocent, intentionally wanting to cause harm to people mindset? I guess anything is possible these days. But it really makes me sad to think they did that.
@@bufordt.justice1539 You can find loads of info about their crimes online, so I'll be brief. Both of them have been officially arrested and convicted by the court of law on different occasions. Tom's been convicted for assaulting a minor and for carrying illegal substances. John's been convicted for multiple financial crimes including tax fraud, emptying his family's bank accounts and selling their property without their consent. He also got his house confiscated by the county sheriff due to failure to pay his mortgages. His own children refuse to speak to him for the ways he abused their mother.
I bet if we were as good as John we would try this at home lol. Looks like its pretty dang high flying fun. Christmas Cars I cannot wait. It's going to be terrific. John you're gonna have another good one here. It is going to be soo good I only wish I could watch it now. Thanks John. Best wishes to you and your wife. 😄
John Schneider was never an extraordinary actor like Clint Eastwood or Morgan Freeman but at least he participated in a few decent TV shows back in the 70s and 80s such as the awesome Dukes of Hazzard. I'll add Smallville in the early 2000s too but that's really it. However, this bovine manure Christmas movie is too much of a steep plunge for him. Maybe he'll get a worthwhile role in the future but who knows..
The Dukes of Hazzard is the greatest show of all time! I was born in 76' and I loved this show growing up and I still watch it today. I have all seven seasons. I miss the dukathon on the CMT Channel. Thank you John Schneider!! Yee haw!!!!
I’ve always loved the fact that Dukes of Hazzard has represented the strength of family values . The General Lee to me , represents freedom from oppression....... Dukes live on !!! Thx John 👍
@@johnj.baranski6553 John Schneider, however, has encouraged us many times to watch his movie because it's the "closest we'll ever get to the Dukes of Hazzard" (I'm quoting him verbatim here). You'll hear him saying that in his video here on RU-vid regarding the "10 Most Asked Questions about the Dukes of Hazzard". Wait a second and I'll provide the link..
If John gets to see this comment of mine, I would appreciate to receive some form of update regarding an order from his online store which I had made almost 2 months ago. I still haven't received any response.
As a black kid growing up in the 80s, I had no issues with DoH then, certainly have no issue with it now. My only complaint is WHY make an issue of this decades down the road when people had the opportunity to (please excuse my French) bitch about it then?!? And I recently went through a Dukes of Hazzard Marathon on Amazon Prime. Childhood memories relived. Thank you, Mr. Schneider.
This movie isn't even on IMDB. Why is that? Can't find a single review about this movie anywhere. Even if it's an indy movie, it should be on IMDB as all accredited movies are.
man i wanna see this..thank you for staying true to yourself and not bending for "them"..and thank you for staying true to us and the rest of our extended family...party on
John Schneider I love the Dukes of Hazzard series, and my favorite car, General Lee, is an impossible dream to have. People who have General Lee are very lucky. I'm from Argentina and one day I would like to meet you John Schneider.
I had a pretty rough childhood as a kid on the weekend Id watch The Dukes of Hazzard at my grandmother's house. It was one of the few times I remember feeling safe and happy. The Dukes will always have a place in my heart.
Being a Dukes of Hazzard enthusiast, I really wanted to like this movie but it was painful to watch in all aspects: acting, directing and story. Unfortunately, John really lost the plot with this movie-literally and metaphorically.
Thank you John Schneider for protecting the honor of this Great American Classic TV show!!! Muscle cars, Jumps and Banjo music!! Awesome! My two favorite shows were.. He-Man and the Dukes never missed an episode! haha Best childhood memories!
I had one of those metal diecast General Lee's when I was four years. I remember it so well because my father accidentally ran over with his new 1970 Challenger hemi r/t plum crazy, I gues he wasn't a Charger fan just kidding. Did it scare me nope, it taught me never leave priceless things in the driveway. Plus, I loved the toy and especially my father's 1970 Challenger even though he didn't have long after my folks divorced.
Im 46 and grow up watching this show . Excellent show that actually had morals in it. Compare it to now kids see it would be rated Mtv-17 and R. in the 80's. That should tell you something about T.V ppl?
I was 17. I built and painted my own General Lee with my own hands. I worked at a gas station in an all black neighborhood in S.E. D.C. called Eastover in 1982. I once let my friend the tow truck driver, a black guy, borrow my General for a week. He had a blast! No problems! Parents would bring their kids for photos next to the General. They were all black. It was a fun time! Today, not so much anymore... No B.S.! Because I lived it and have the pictures to prove it. Anyway, LOVE the Preview! Nice job John!!!
I met John Schneider in Tyler, TX around 2007 when he was promoting a movie. He had a real General Lee Charger there with him and I also got an autographed General Lee diecast car. He seems like an authentic nice guy which is rare for celebrities these days. :)
