Extraordinary performance of this symphony, I have listened some of them with different conductors, but this in particular is just perfect, brilliant and charming, and think that Bruckner never was in its performance due to Bruckner was sick and unable to attend it, as a matter of fact , he never heard this symphony performed by an orchestra, incredible . A genious, and a great inspiration for Mahler , his pupil...

I remember in the 70s there was just one recording of this that I was aware of, by Ormandy and Philadelphia. It was a 2-disc set that I couldn't afford. There was no such thing as a video of a live performance. Really amazing what listeners have access to now. I noticed all of the mikes on the brass section. No wonder the sound is really clear.

Endlich mal ein Dirigent der das Momentum im Finale aufrecht erhält. Zu viele geben im Tempo nach. Aber warum sitzen die 2 Kontrabässe da so getrennt von den anderen? Sind das die Aussätzigen? ;)

Es ist zwar Bruckners 5. Sinfonie, aber womöglich kein einziger Takt ist hier Bruckner. Hoffentlich mussten Celibidache oder Günter Wand das nicht mit anhören, von wo auch immer! Referenz-Interpretation der letzten Jahre dürften die Konzerte 7/2023 mit Christian ThIelemann und dem Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks sein. Wunderbare Blechbläser, wogegen hier das Blech nur schrecklich herumschreit auf Blaskapellen-Niveau und der Pauker wie auf der Sklavengaleere aggressiv exekutiert, verheerend…

Schreckliches Schüler-Dirigat, derartigen „Talenten“ sollte verboten werden, solche Meisterwerke der Musik zu dirigieren…
