A BIG thank you to you Jack and Jocko for capturing John's stories. They so badly need to be part of documented history.

Yes, but also getting the stories of the King Bee Pilot and Indig soldiers like Cowboy. Super important that everyone understands the major sacrifices South Vietnamese made to try to stop the evil communists.

Hear John's stories a hundred times. Always learn something new. Still in awe of what they did. Can anyone who has briefed an operation, imagine what the bosses would say after you gave them a SOG OP Plan? They'd probably just stare at you then transfer you! WTF. So sad those brave souls were not returned home. I know they've tried to go back, some with their own money, to recover the remains but my heart brakes. Thanks Jack you and John have a great feel for each other, the conversation moved fluidly and was fantastic to listen to. Stay healthy everyone.

It’s unfortunate that their missions had to remain secret for so long; 150% casualty rate, 50% chance of being KIA and a 1 to 150 (?) kill ratio. These are some bad ass men. So glad to hear these stories. Thanks to John for the SOG interviews and you Jack for get ting his story out there to the masses.

I was at a gun show in Pasadena Texas, back in the 90s. I had a fatigue shirt on with a Mac V Sog patch on it, and a guy that looked like John , tall skinny guy. Came up to me and asked me if I new what that patch meant. ''' I am a Vietnam era Vet.'' Well I had no idea. He was a little bit mad. He sead I should take the shirt off. I told him that would not work. I was still looking at the stuff in the show and I had my Mother with me. He was trying to tell me about the SOG ,but I was to stupid to listen. But once he new I had served in the USARMY, well he combed down. I wish I new then what I know now. That was a hero right there and I did not know it. He should have slap the shit out of me, and sead Soldier you need to wake up. Thank you for your Everything John....

Loved the conversation. Bought John’s books after listening. One small issue I have is you say the gov’t gave us our rights, couldn’t be more wrong. Our rights are granted by God and it is the government’s job to protect them, not take them away.
@benyoung552
@benyoung552 2 года назад
True… The government was only formed to protect the ppl and protect those rights… My my, how that’s changed… So many veterans of the past that spilt blood for our flag would be rolling in their graves. Hell, if the founding fathers were time warped to present day, they’d be arrested within an hour. Probably for open carry, among other things…

Jack you need to get John Plaster, SOG recon team leader, Sniper Instructor and author of a couple definitive books on SOG. The other very interesting interview would be Stephen Moore(author of "Uncommon Valor: The Recon Company that Earned Five Medals of Honor and Included America's Most Decorated Green Beret" on for more SOG stories.

Mr Jack Carr i just want to say please dont let the negative comments/reviews get to you and please dont let them influence your writing i have read every brad thor, david Baldacci, vince flyn, jack reacher series books and your books are my absolute favorite and it seems everything the negative reviews hate is what makes the books great the details in how enemys use our weakness as an opportunity and our current landscape in the U.S. brings a major weakness and the technical knowledge and the detail description of equipment and the detailed research on war and military structure and history i dont want to see your style change because the negative Nancy's reviews i love your books and the small bits of knowledge passed through them your books are teir one keep up the amazing work and i will always be a devoted reader and i hope the positive reviews outweigh the negative amazing books cant get enough keep them coming sir

I think John Plaster had the first book out on SOG in 1993. That was the end of their 20 yr secrecy agreement IIRC. After that we had several fire fighters talk about their SOG time never previously known. Plaster, Nick Brockhausen and Lynn Black all have great books.

@20:00 We were camping one weekend in a area of the North Carolina mountains for my cousins birthday (May 31st) and a group of four or five Army guys came walking out of the woods. This area is one of the most remote in Western North Carolina. Basically between Grandfather Mountain and Lenoir where you can drive over 30 miles on nothing but gravel roads.The area we were in is called Rock House Creek and its between two gravel roads on a forests service road that requires a 4x4 to reach. They were doing some kind of training and said they had 4 more days before they were supposed to be picked up. We fed them all the hot dogs and hamburgers they could eat and packed up everything we had left and sent them off the next morning very hung over and well fed.

Really appreciate you and your podcasts, books. Awesome! One point of contention though, the constitution and the government that purports to defend it does not nor has it ever given us our rights, rather it has defended our inherent God given rights. But I do agree that our government appears to be more concerned with the removal rather than the defense of our rights.

This is history that definitely needs to be heard and documented. The SOG warriors were a different breed of solider then what we have today. All of our solders are great men and very much appreciated, but the SOG warriors saw and did some hairy shit. I have seen all of the podcasts that j could find on them and there stories are top of the line combat. 5 to 7 solders facing anywhere between 200 to 10000 enemy soldiers and coming out alive with a large kill count. An the Intel they gathered, the rescue missions. Godbless all of those men an everything they did.

18:51 im glad I got to know that mans name. In the sog commandos book by John plaster I think, they used a pseudonym (Miguel something). *Graphic spoiler The teams were captured by basically super sappers, extreme communist zealots, who did the jumping out and grabbing like how sog had done to so many NVA. Then they cut open his stomach so his intestines fell out, stuck a flamethrower inside and burned him from the inside out. Then torched the indig as well and left one sog man alive. The many of the guys back at the FOB thought the guy had hallucinated it until a few days later when they found the scorched bodies. These sappers made the guy call for help on his radio, hooked him up to the McGuire rig and sent him on his way. Insane stuff. It's so unfortunate that the majority of the youth will never know these men's names and many wouldn't even care. The country deserves much better for what these men fought for, even if you don't sgree with the war. They wreaked havoc on some teams, whole teams disappearing without a trace and whole teams killed or captured.
