Simple words yes, but John Walton was a very clever and complex man, with strong underlying emotions and unfulfilled dreams - but he counted his blessings and treated his children beautifully.
Daddy, I miss you so much. The only thing I have left is our memories, and those no one can take away. Know you will never be forgotten. My life will never be the same without you. I love you precious Daddy.
I loved this advice to John boy, from his father. Ralph Waite, portrayed John Walton sr. With so much love and understanding and devotion to his children. I loved his character. He reminded me slot of my own Father, The Walton's mean so much to so many people.
From tvs golden age. In heaven, this will be on constant re-runs. With the Andy Griffiths show and Phil silvers show. So much crap on now. Obscenity has replaced family values. I despair for our future generations.
I didn't appreciate The Waltons when I was a teenager and into my twenties during it's original run, but I grew to love the show in the intervening years. Great writing, excellent production and pacing. Shows such as this and others from that era let the viewer absorb moments and relate them to his or her own life. No flash or fast pace necessary. This kind of television is the only kind for me. Takes me back to better times.
Rest in peace sir. Us kiwis grew up on the waltons. I saw them as my own siblings growing up in the 80s. Great years awesome times. This scene always put me in a place of awe. He played his role to the T. What a legend.
THAT WAS A GOD DAM BEAUTIFUL SCENE !!!! REMINDS ME OF MY FATHER !!! ONLY MY DAD LOOKED LIKE JOHN WAYNE, BUT WAS BUILT LIKE CLINT WALKER !!! GOOD MAN !!! NEVER CUSSED. REAL MAN !!! NOT LIKE THESE COMMIE FREAKS OF TODAY !!! I LOVED WATCHN THE WALTONS AS A YOUNG LAD !🙂🙂
I had occasion to 'return' to this just now - could have been Olivia talking to one of the girls too - timeless, small but important things the like of which we say to all of our kids - the children are our future,
Actors are amazing because the real life person in this scene admitted himself he wasn’t even remotely close to the person he was portraying in this show to the real life father he was to his own children,, It’s all just an illusion
