Movie Summary:

Keanu did all his fighting!!! Watch his behind the scenes training for shooting and fighting. He does Brazilian jujitsu and has been doin it for years. Slogs shooting has been reacted to by cops and other professionals and they all say he’s got REAL shooting skills. The behind the scenes training is SWEET to watch

just about the ONLY stunt Keanu didn't do was the fall in the Club at the end of the fight with the mini-boss. Insurance company wouldn't sign off on it.

I wouldn’t say the scene with jimmy the police officer was needed but it was a great scene because it was part of the world building this movie does. That the police are aware of the whole assassin underworld and that there is possibly an accord between the two worlds, that they leave the assassins to go after people the cops may not. Also Reeves may be Neo to him but to me he was first and foremost Ted "Theodore" Logan.

not sure if you guys caught it, but the dog that John takes was scheduled to be euthanized in the AM according to the card on the cage door.. Redemption and second chances play a lot into the John Wick universe. A common phrase you'll hear is "go home", "lets go home", etc.. "Going home" or "gone home" has a slightly dark meaning to it when you consider that it's sometimes used to describe someone who's passed away.. -- The bellman at the hotel is kind of a supernatural character as well. His name tag reads Charon. In mythology, Charon was the ferryman who shuttled people between the land of the living and the land of the dead. You'll also notice, that no matter what time it is... Charon is ALWAYS there at his post.

A lot of people already commented on the fighting stunts Keanu does. I like to mention the gun work. Watch the vids online about him running speed courses with several different guns. It was very important for them to show a sequence of gunfire and show JW stop and reload. In most movies it shows it taking a time or they just skip it all together. Here they show how fast it can be done without breaking stride.

Bonus Fact: The security guard who waves Wick onto the airport runway is reading the 1970s thriller novel "Shibumi" by Rod Whitaker, under the pen name Trevanian, also about a retired master assassin dragged back into the game. The story Viggo tells about how Wick once killed three men "with a pencil" is describing a crucial scene from the same novel.

Adrianne Palicki is the actress who fought John Wick in the hotel room and played Ms. Perkins. It was cool watching her apply the Kimora, to the improvised gi choke she used with her coat, as well as the crucifix transition and the awesome body triangle and rear naked choke. She had not grown up doing martial arts but got intense training for 4-5hours a day for 5 months preparing for the role. Keanu did the same, and their trainers were the Machado brothers. 2 things: 1) "Francis" at the Red Circle told John he lost 28kg (which was translated to over 60 pounds for American audiences) -- John killed 28 guards in the Red Circle. 2) The writer of John Wick also wrote Nobody and confirmed in an interview that they are in the same universe.

I want to expand on a scene you had cut out of the reaction, when the Mobster was talking to his son about giving John an 'Impossible Task', and that the 'bodies he buried that day, laid the foundation of what we are now'. Namely from what I have heard, back in the day when John was 'working', the Mobster wasn't top dog and had lots of rivals and other mobs and gangs also running the city for crime. And John's task was to kill all the other mobsters grounds, every member, from the top to the bottom, so that the Russian mobster in the movie was the only one left and able to take over and grow as powerful as they are.

The actress playing Perkins is Adrianne Palicki, who is probably best known for The Orville and for playing Agent Bobbi Morse in the Agents of Shield series. Don't know if she has had any formal training or if she is just naturally athletic, she did run track and play basketball in HS and has excelled through her work with trainers and choreographers on set. Either way she's done well enough to keep catching physically demanding roles. And yes, Keanu did around 90% of his own stunts, most likely everything that the insurance and production companies would allow, as well as doing intensive tactical firearms training. The director Chad Stahelski got his start in kickboxing and stunt work and was even Keanu's stunt double for the Matrix films. He also stunt/body doubled for Brandon Lee following his tragic death on the set of The Crow, he had worked with him, knew and could replicate his style and looked the most similar to the actor.

@@mrflickswatches I can only appreciate the films where the actors are the ones doing their own stunt work, with a few exceptions, like where it would just be insane to let them, given the risks, or where it's due to injury/illness or age that they can't but have directors who manage to capture it in a way to really hide the fact that it isn't them. The actors who commit to doing everything themselves like Keanu, Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh and Tom Cruise just bring a level of grounded realism when you can see it's really them. If you haven't already, I think you both would really enjoy Marvel series Agent Carter which is a short fun action adventure series and Agents of Shield which is interwoven between the movies starting right after Iron Man 3. Both have amazing casts with great chemistry. They even have some hilarious cross cast rivalry videos between the sets they also have some great choreography and Ming Na Wen is an absolute badass. But for the best choreography approaching the best movies you've got to check out Daredevil and The Punisher series both are next level and both leads Charlie Cox and John Bernthal are absolute perfection. Daredevil even does a incredible homage to The Raid: Redemptions infamous hallway fight scene that is 10/10!!!

Ah yes, Adrianne Palicki, probably my Last "Celebrity Crush". I remember the 1st time I saw her when she guest starred on Smallville & I thought, "Oh wow. Those eyes!". To be fair, I have pretty much only ever seen her doing bit parts & guest appearances. (Supernatural, Criminal Minds, etc.) But every time, that pretty face & gorgeous eyes appear, they just mesmerize me in every scene she does! I also understand she was in a popular series called Friday Night Lights. (but I never saw it)

There's a video out there that breaks down how in nearly all movies, there is a scene where someone describes just how terrifying the villain is (perfect example: Infinity War where Bruce warns Tony and Dr. Strange about Thanos), but in THIS movie, it's the exact opposite, but with the same effect, where the villain (Vigo), is telling his son of the gravity of how he done goofed in doing John Wick dirty. There is another video out there where a body language analyst describes just how fearful Vigo is of John Wick based on how he talks to his son. Of the three films in the series, the first John Wick will always be my favorite.

3:40 Beagles are actually one of the most vocal (loudest, noisiest) dog breeds around. (The dog in the movie was well-trained, which was why it acted as cute and respectful as it did.) They're also sight hounds, which means they'll bark at anything that interests them. ("Hey, look, I found a bird! It's bird! Looky-looky! A bird! And a lizard! Look, dad, look, mom, look! A lizard! I found it! And there's another doggie . . . ") Just make sure you can handle that, if you intend to get one. :-)

Originally they didn't know if they were going to get any sequels. So this was written as a stand alone movie. There is a lot of symbolism in this movie as well which I think people pick on subconsciously. Perfectly crafted with a simple plot. As the movie progresses Vigo used harder and harder substances, alcohol in the beginning, weed in the middle etc. John paused in the bath house because he wanted Vigo's son to recognize who he was. Look forward to seeing your reactions to the other movies as well.

Strongly recommend the Swedish trilogy, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It co-stars the late Michael Nyqvist (Wick’s former associate here) and he’s in a role completely different than this one. And Noomi Rapace as the complete bad ass Lisbeth Salander is next level!

Keeanu did all the fighting and guns choreography and stunts he spent months and months training and he did both himself. The only stunts he didn't do was being hit by the cars and being thrown down the stairs in chapter 2

1. the reason he missed "Theon" in the bath house is because he was shooting through glass at a bit of an angle. Bullets do weird things when striking glass a lot of the time. 2. Part of the reason for the beard in the new Matrix is because of John Wick. Apparently it's also why he didn't do as much fighting in that movie because he was simultaneously working choreography for JW. 3. Great reaction. Now we need you to do the other 2 movies.

"He was Neo first." Fraid not, my young friend. I will accept Johnny Utah or Ted Theodore Logan, esquire. New sub, by the way. It's a pleasure to meet you both. This movie taught us that if you want to get the audience on the side of the hero, kill the dog. That immediately trumps pretty much any flaws your hero may have. Keanu did an amazing job with this and the amount of trigger time that man put in is truly impressive. The man is very, very good now. To answer your question about this character or that, I'd have to know what you're asking. Who would win in a fight? Most snappy dresser? What are we going for here. I'll have a mildly stoned pointless debate on characters all day, but I need parameters. And yes, depending on how your martini is mixed, you can taste the olive brine, if not the olives themselves. If John had wanted Theon dead quickly, the movie would have ended in the night club. John wanted to punish him first. I think it's fair to say, he succeeded. Have a wonderful day all.

Yes and no. I worked with Adrienne Palicki on the Orville and I asked her straight up if she studied Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. She said the actors trained for about 4 months in BJJ I think with the Machado brothers but I don't think she continued with it after shooting the movie. Keanu kept training though. I think he's a blue belt now.

A bit of John Wick trivia, The director of the movie was one of the stunt coordinators from the Matrix franchise. Both Keanu & he became good friends & Chad Stahelski (the stunt coordinator/Director) pitched the movie to Keanu & the rest is history.

Keanu Reeves did all of his own stunts... all the gun fighting he trained at Taran tactical... You can watch it on RU-vid... All the Jiu-Jitsu in Judo he learn from the Machida Brothers....

Here to save the day from my viewpoint... regarding the Dry Martini question (unless you already know)... The perfect mix is (sorry for using the metric system but I will make it easy) 1 part Vodka (4cl) 2 part Dry Gin (8cl) ...and hopefully navy strengt. 1 part dry vermouth (4cl) Shaken or stired doesnt make that much different... shaken if you want to simmer it down, stired if you want it a little bit stronger (due to the ice watering it down a little) You can add the olives to make it a little more bitter or add a lemon cest in it to make it a little more fresher.. Anyhow.. if you have all the things cold enouth it will taste like a little thicker water with a refreshing taste of herbs and the aftertaste of an olive or lemon (you can even change the olive for a pickled onion if you want to) The most important thing is to keep all the drinks cooled and almost frozen. The parts can be made by cl or oz.. doesn't matter.. as long as you keep the ratio. Also, to make a Gin-martini just add the vodka part into gin and to make a Vodka martini just add the Gin part into Vodka.. it's easy. (If you want to make it into the James Bond Martini it should be Gordon's Gin and the vermouth should be Lillet Blanc.. the ratio stays the same) ;)

Keanu Reeves did the stunts he could do in John Wick, and it was more than you would expect of Hollywood Stars; the maker of John Wick was Keanu's stunt instructor in Matrix. Keanu told him that he'd star in the movie if the stunt instructor made a movie. John Wick is an off-shoot from the Matrix crew family.

Wick over Neo. By far. One is more relatable as far as abilities. But also, the Wick movies are stunts-based. Matrix is CGI-based. No contest. Plus, in the Wick movie, the cars that overturned or dropped off the edge, did not senselessly explode. they just go, crunch.

I loved Keanu as Neo. He's fantastic as John Wick, and hilariously fun as Ted "Theodore" Logan but I think my favorite iconic Keanu Reeves character was Johnny Mnemonic. Keep up the great reactions you two. Awesome channel.

Adrianne Palicki learned Judo for this movie... The directors have background as Stuntmen, so this movie is filled with most of the crew doing their own stunts as much as they can. Watch "John Wick Directors React to The Honest Trailer!" on RU-vid... it was filmed after the second movie, so there is a minor spoiler or two about the second movie. So I'd suggest watching the second movie first, IMO the spoilers won't ruin the movie.

Everyone I've seen react to this movie is taken a-back by him giving the dog cereal. But given that he got the dog late at night and was unprepared for a dog, he gave him what he could until he got proper food that day. Just an observation. R.I.P Daisy 😢
