In parabellum, when john went home to redeem his ticket, there was a scene where the ballerinas and wrestlers who are only in their teens were training, John's mother reminds him how he was trained like those kids when he was a child. That being said, his family sits on the table, which is why it doesn't make sense to me that he is not familiar with the continental when he is already portrayed as an older dude in the comics.
They definitely need to do a prequel movie showing how he got in and how he initially got out (impossible task). I believe it would be great if done right.
Yes & they either need to do a de-aging effect or cast Tom pelphrey to play a younger Wick he has the acting chops & he looks exactly like Keanu reeves
This comic must have come out after the 1st movie. The 3rd established that he was a orphan and his real name. The last at the end gives an insight to why Winston looked after him, as he is part of the Romani family.
Apparently this is the comic version which I'm not sure is supposed to b exact. Then again it would make sense to have both share the same facts but who knows these days lol
This is why I hate tie in comics(especially prequel comics). They never match up with established canon....ever. There's always plot holes. This story is weak on top of that. So before John Wick was hunting specific men on a bloody path of revenge......he was....hunting specific men on a bloody path of revenge.
None of this explains his badass, backstory in the movies. Doesn’t explain who trained him, what kind of training, how that training, affected his abilities, to be the scariest, assassin in the series. I’d rather buy a comic book series, or a prequel, that goes into depth of his past. No one cares, how, he, got introduced to the hotel. What everyone, wants, is flashbacks, introducing key players, that trained and mentored him. You don’t become the top guy, after eating pie. Pie, as sweet as it is, it won’t make you superhuman. Think Batman’s, training with Ra's al Ghul. That explained his character’s ability to take on street thugs, mobsters, and his enemies, the joker, penguin, Mr. Freeze, etc. Without that detail to his story, he’d be just some billionaire with gadgets. That’s what John Wick, needs, but more intense training, more than what they even wrote for Batman. Batman, isn’t assassin. Now we aren’t counting bystanders in cars, homes, etc. otherwise he’d be an evil person. 😅😅😅 John Wick 4, that scene, where he, goes back to his family, they tie him up, and slowly hanging him. That is a scene, that explains, a little, of the people, who he lived with, their demented, sadistic behavior on display. That’s a snippet of the… truth. Just because people are backing a comic, doesn’t mean, anyone, put any effort, into to origins of, John Wick. From that comic book, I wouldn’t fear him, I’d laugh in his face, and tell him, to fu€k off. That’s my thoughts. Hopefully the John wick, movies, will continue on the same path that it’s been on. Maybe they do more flashbacks or prequel.
This comic was obviously published before John Wick 3. John Wick may have been an orphan, but he was an orphan from Belarus later taken in by the Ruska Roma.
Yeah, but this comic contradicts the sequel, John Wick 3, when it reveal that his real name is Jardani Jovonovich, and already had ties with the Russian, Slavic Mafia. How he ended from being in California to being trained by the Russian Mafia in New York?
I was reading in the comments to see if someone else wrote this. They said he was a child of Belarus. Then the boys were wrestling she said bring back memories? Baba Yaga is a Russian or Eastern European folklore character. So it would make sense he was from Eastern Europe. Also he speaks several languages. Just because he uses a American accent doesn't mean he is American. This whole comic is as if John Wick III and the walk through the theater where the woman was watching the ballerina irrelevant.🤔🤪 sooooo confused
@@jeremybaker195 i am not confused and you should not be either. This comic is clearly not considering what jw3 gave us concerning his childhood. This comic should have been based in Eastern Europe if not Belarus or Russia. And could have showed his early training similar to 'Hitman/ Agent 47'. This writer missed a wonderful opportunity
@@dantefromdevilmaycry9857 I haven't seen 4 yet. But If John grew up in this hit man / assassin culture wouldn't he know about the Continenal hotel? The High Tabel and all of that. The comic makes it seem as though he just kinda fell into that world.
John wick is my favorite action movie character the best action movie I’ve watched & a lot of action done & break down the action use more realistic techniques
This version of John is more dangerous than the one in the movies, especially due to better feats in strength, endurance, speed, combat and pain tolerance (receiving direct shots in the chest is something superhuman and here John receives them as if it were nothing) . The antagonists of the films should be happy that they did not have to face John Wick in his prime since apparently in the prequel comic this version of the character would have had fewer problems defeating characters like Cassian, Zero, Caine, Chidi or Killa.
From everything I read seems like this comic was made between chapter 2 and chapter 3. So even if it was canon when chapter 2 came out obliviously they wanted to change his origins in the movie so part 3 could have some cool locations. John Wick Chapter 2 was released February 10 2017. The comics apparently came out from November 2017 to February 2019. John Wick 3 was released May 17 2019. Kinda wish you guys would added this research since it didn't take to long to look this all up or at least add a not saying "this might not be canon do to conflicting information with new movies."
This Origin Story does not seem to line up with the information that was given in JW3 Parabellum where John goes to the Ballet Company to get his Ticket Punched for safe passage to Casa Blanca and where the Ballet Director commented to John about the young men training on the mats the Wrestling and Judo moves on each other if it brought back memories. John said that his real name is Jardani Jovonovich and he is from Belarus. A member of the Director's Tribe and he is OWED. He was an orphan who was taken in by the Ruska Roma crime syndicate, where he was raised as an assassin, eventually rising to become the top enforcer of the Russian Mafia and known as "Baba Yaga" ("the one you sent to kill [the] Boogeyman") under crime boss Viggo Tarasov (Michael Nyqvist), who deemed him so ruthless so as to respect and fear him. Now NON of the EVENTS of the Comic are telling anything that go with the information that was mentioned in the three previous movies. The Comic story could be one of John's Early missions but since the Ruska Roma are part of the High Table and part of the Continental Network he would have known the players in El Paso!
I love the Wick movies. Excited to see what comes after and if anyone is willing to help me find the comics in physical form it would be appriciated and awesome. as i live in Finland it's sometimes an issue with deliveries.
IT's be so easy to sell a show or even develop a videogame showing Wick's gigs prior his retirement, ending it with his final gig for the Russian mafia. There's just so much to unwrap that the movies just leave there as a mystery, his hinted connections to Sofia, Marcus, Koji, Aurelio, Caine, the D'Antonio siblings, etc. Given that he has been working as an assassin for so long, you could hire relatively unknown but superb young actors and actresses to work as the aforementioned assassins, with maybe Ian McShane and Fishburne returning Winston and the Bowery King in some episodes.
Honestly we need a John wick video game (company is yall choice) because from my understanding Wick most likely was a KILLING MACHINE in his youth and while he is one the films...he is also kinda old so just imagine what the possibility of a video game can do for him? You can upgrade him as the story progresses and can become the literally Boogeyman, they can go the hitman game play route or even make or a first person game. I would love to see that and would definitely buy that game. Would yall?
Nice but I thought that He was a Russian trained in Judo & Sambo who came to America as a teen through family connections & then joined Marines Not an American from California.
Would've made more sense as he was supposed to be an orphan that they took him into a Russian syndicate and trained him, like the others, from an early age. Only to find out he has a natural proclivity to killing people. So they honed his skills and made him a hitman in the organization. Since he was an orphan maybe he tried to pickpocket a boss or something. And fought off the boss his minions. Before getting pistol-whipped. They decide to take him in instead of killing the boy because he shows no fear of death. Being doomed on the rough Russian streets made him tough and stoic already. It would make more sense why he would be loyal and excited for love. Maybe he's just in America as part of the Roma organisation. Like the syndicates are everywhere. Nice picking up on the Sambo part by the way. It's not judo though. They did a great job in the movies letting him use combat sambo equal to what the spetsnaz used to learn. And there is no way an assassin would take the top floor. There are not enough exits to flee from. No ground level or first floor would be acceptable but definitely not above the 5th. Anything you can safety repel from or use a stairway.
Nicely done. I believe this comic book story line is after JW's training, service, and severing ties in the Ruska Roma crime family. But it's before his service to the New York City's Russian mafia.
I just ordered the Kindle version of these comix. But, of course, the glamour, the rich living, and the international nature of the High Table are not likely to be incorporated into the comix. These modern comic artists are a wonder! I think they work so fast because they work al the time AND they use some computer aided design work, to help reproduce the same faces, distortions, and color consistencies. However, my only real hesitation is that, if you live in El Paso, even John Wick wouldn't come out ahead in that burg! It is a nasty town, massive flows of crime across the border, Feds clean and dirty everywhere, dry, arid climate, wind, dust, and even the Continental has little to recommend it. But, they have some real high-stakes private golf matches there, which John Wick would be wise to take his weapons in his bag and make sure his golf rating is at least a +2, or he will lose money and get smoked.
@@crizbacani9488 he clearly left the Ruska Roma at some point, but took his ticket with him, and became a freelance killer. Who at some point ended up doing serious work, and making top dollar for big name crime bosses such as Viggo.
With Chapter 4 comes to close and John's Death is somewhat vague... And the comment of the "Harbinger" that if John wins the duel with the Marquis John would be turned into a "Saint". I would like to see John in Chapter 5(if it would happen) would be refer as the "Avenger", the only person who would avenge anyone who's been unjustly punished by the table or wronged by someone in the underworld like what happened to him in the first movie
Maria is a code name. This is John Wick's Wife Helen Wick. They both try to walk away from that life together. Unfortunately it didn't work out too well..... Cue dramatic music and my job is done here
Nice video. But this comic, it nonsense, it's not enough to be an origin story it's just a story. The movie is a masterpiece, the fight choreography, the weapons, the locations, the decor , the cinematography excellent. This comic is far cry from that, a better story could have been used a far better artist should have illustrated and a colorist to bring Chad's brand of visual on paper . I do not accept this as a John wick comic, i reject it, this could have been much, much, much more better.
They just had to make some comic with a generic "tragic" childhood origin. Sometimes things are better off left as a mystery. Not everything needs to be overexplained. John Wick is more interesting with his origin being left to speculation. This is why I hate comics.
John wick was an orphan who was picked up by a women who trained him how to fight the way he does, hints why he went “home” to reclaim his ticket and why she calls him johndonnie because just like the rest of the kids she gives them their own Russian like name and John wick did understand and know how the continental worked but you gotta remember after killing dozens of people for other people to sit higher up he left because he was in love and that was taken from him along with a puppy and a car so he rejoined but when he came back to his home base the continental it had went through changes so he was unaware if it had change completely or if it was still being ran by the same people
The comic storyline is directly contradicted by the movies. And literally zero reference to Ruska Roma? Nah this is basically just a well funded fanfic
To me this prequel does not make sense John Wick is from Belarus how did he wound up in Texas? And if Maria recruited him how did he become involve with the Rusks Roma?
Wait wait wait... Didn't the movie shows that he was raised in the belarussian mafia ? A street urchin from takin in by a prussian/russian mafia based in germany, not America. Then left the mafia as an assassin because he found a girl he liked and wanted to stay with her. We knoe how it went further into the story. But no word of Maria or anythin else of the story. If im wrong please tell me where Cus this ain't addin up wuth the movie story
This comic was made prior John Wick 2, I think that the producers and the screenwriter didn't have clear Wick background prior giving the blessing for this comic.
I would have to read this myself cause it honestly feels like yall tried too hard to make Calamity seem badass. I could buy it. So maybe reading it will make it believable
Bro this comic sucks. He was an orphan from Belarus , joined the Ruska Roma and grew up in NYC and been there probably since he was 5, he even says take me home in John wick 4. I don’t know why they have this shitty origin for him contradicting everything the movie says
this comic doesn't appear to be canon. john has a history in belarus, and an eastern slavic family which adopted him as an orphan, speaking some weird russian dialect. this family has some relation to the high table. but, this comic appears entirely american origins with baja california? it's джон not juan.
I really don't see how any of this ties to the story. It's like someone already had a story written and just used John Wick characters to fill the rolls. Hard pass.
He was adopted by the Ruska Roma he was an assassin for many many years and seeing as John wick hex might be true in the universe of John wick I’m not sure about this comic
