Everyone dissed this game but to be honest it did exactly what it set out to do and then some. It was supposed to depict Sam as a different kind of person outside the agency. Unrestrained. Violent. Merciless. Vengeful. I'd say it did a pretty good job. As a splinter cell purist's game? Yeah I can understand the criticism.
And to be fair, you could still sneak/stealth around if you really wanted. It just opened the options up for me, personally. I still stealthed through most of this game myself, lol. I never had a problem with it, and like you said, they accomplished actually what they set out to do: making Sam feel more unrestrained, more violent, more intense, etc.
People may say every splinter cell game should be stealthy. I totally agree. But if you know the story of this game, you know it would make sense to see this game as a full action packed genre with John Wick type style. THIS is how the game should be played. Knowing Fisher is mad because they "killed" his daughter kinda lines up with the mood of John Wick losing his Dog/Car. And with the new mechanics of this game (gun kills/ knockdowns and Sam's torturing interrogations) You can tell they wanted this game to be a bit more action than the traditional sneaking around. Don't get me wrong, I love me some damn good classic Splinter Cell. But this game is on another level of action. Great Video!
Even if this wasn't the stealthiest game in the series, its combat loop was totally addictive. I could play levels over and over again just trying out different attack combinations and playstyles. And it gave Sam the best characterization out of all the games. This was a personal story and Sam was out for blood.
I had NO idea anyone still played this game aside from me. Finding this video was awesome; I'm surprised it was done so recently! By the way... shoutout to 5:37. That's the type of thing I'd only dreamed of doing. Long live Michael Ironside as Sam Fisher. This is one of my all-time favorite games, and stories.
I recently rebought this game for PC and playing it at 60fps is fucking awesome, I prefer this game over Blacklist just because I find it more fun and the stealth I find can be more interesting, I typically do Deniable Ops on Realistic, then I have Pistol only meaning I can put away my weapons and go round punching people out and honestly it's kinda funny to see Archer/Fisher/Kestrel running around without weapons beating the pulp out of people
Superman I'm still playing this man, I thought that nobody was playing this anymore too, it's way too awesome to see this video and to see people like you who still play this game, I'm way too excited
Actually, John is propably beyond Sam. Sam wouldn't use stealth so heavily if he was on John's level who just tears through small armies single handed.
I love the addition of Mark and Execute. I think people didn’t like it because it made the game too easy, but it makes you feel like the damn killing machine Sam is.
Agent Revenge as sad as it is, we will never get michael ironhide as sam fisher again. He left the role because he believes sam fisher has become to violent.
Agent Revenge There's been a rumor for quite a while now that Ironside is back. The info seems pretty legit, but who knows. Here's a link to the full story: www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/rumor-michael-ironside-returns-splinter-cell/
@Michael Stroup Uh, no. Ironside got tired of the role since Chaos Theory, felt that Double Agent was phoned in, and outright refused to do Conviction. It only took a conversation with Maxime Beland (the recent project director) that Ironside himself liked for him to get onboard. The "violent Sam" from Conviction was the direction Ironside liked.
Very nice gameplay. I always had conflicting emotions towards this game as a big Splinter Cell fan. They removed so many classic stealth features (dragging bodies, lockpicking, whistling etc.) and introduced the (in my opinion) rather lazy M&E system. I remember trying to ghost my way through the campaign and having really good time or horrible time depending on the level. Going pure ghost was really dull because of the lack of options, really felt like I was playing the most basic and dullest stealth game ever made. This video really makes me feel like going back and trying to play the game loud and proud. The game seems to be designed around the last know position and mark and execute after all.
I loved all the splinter cell games but for me this one has a special place in my heart. You finally feel like sam fisher is unleashed. Not to mention the multiplayer gave so much replay value.
I remember hating Conviction when it first came out. Everyone hated the new gameplay and removal of morality. But it has aged so well. I actually really like it now.
Sto Karatów I don't really care. It should have been the end for Sam Fisher tho. I was more pissed about blacklist puting his name on a completely different character than the previous entries of the game.
Ive seen a ton of people defending Blacklist recently. And that was my main problem with it, it should have been a Spinoff. Sam was a totally different character. I couldnt even finish it because of that.
Story-wise its good and makes sense why Fisher is not particularly stealthy - he is pissed off and wants all of them dead. It's decent action game, but bad Splinter Cell game. That's why I would have preferred if Conviction was titled differently, like, Sam Fisher's revenge or somethin'.
It's the same situation with Metal Gear Solid 5. Fantastic gameplay and a good game all round, but people bitch about it because it didn't feel like a true MGS game, mainly due to the lack of story. I don't care, I'm a fan of both franchises and these are two great stealth-action games.
i'll be waiting then, anyway if you're about to do something with sc blacklist, i suggest you to use balaclava mod from the last mission to be able to use in all other missions steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=282161248
Sam fisher in conviction was lethal as shit.. he took down elite assassins in this game like it was nothing.. his whole agency in the White House alone he took down..
I remember when Ubisoft revealed the gameplay, the said that in this game, Sam is the prey and the predator. And this gameplay shows it. You can sneak and everything or you can play it like this where you obliterate everything. Great gameplay btw
Geez, man. And I thought I played aggressively. I usually stick with the Five-SeveN, because it has 4 marks, more than any other gun in the game, and it's internally suppressed. I rarely use the secondary weapon, but when I do, I use the M-500 like you did. I try to have a mark/execute ready to go, mark all but one people in the room, melee kill the last guy, and move onto the next room, and I rinse and repeat for the whole game pretty much. Very effective in Deniable Ops.
