Love the moment when he takes his cop hat off, literally, and asks if he's working again. It's with the hat off that he says he'll let John be. Jimmy knows all about the dark underworld, at least John Wick's part in it and clearly knows John Wick. Kind of a buffer between him and the police.

Yeah, if not an a fellow assassin, Jimmy is someone familiar enough in the underworld to know who he is. It's doubtful a beat cop who answers noise complaints would know about an urban legend the most ruthless gangsters tell each other scary stories about. I figure the higher-ups in the organized crime unit know who he is but as long as he doesn't kill civilians or kids, he's not their problem and they don't ever want him to be their problem. Which is why whoever Jimmy is, he's not there to watch him so much as remind him to keep it clean.

I recall to have heard somewhere that James "Jimmy" has been friends with John for a long time who he has met through his wife. Certainly one way or another he obviously learned about John's past career. So ofcourse he would keep it under the rug because he knows that John can handle himself and does not want to throw him into too much more trouble after his wife just died.

One thing I love about John is that not only is he a warrior, but a tangible warrior. In other pieced of action content, the big hero usually is untouchable in their battles. John, however, can be hit, but he just brushes it off until the action stops. Makes him seem more realistic.

Underwater fight gets me every time. That attention to detail that bullets lose a lot of their stopping power when being shot through the water. The fact that John knows this and gets as far away as possible, then proceeds to get as close as possible when it's time to reload so he can fire from point-blank range

Absolutely badass scene. I have seen a test of rifles vs pistols vs shotguns being fired into the water from above, and it was very interesting that the rifles were exponentially less effective precisely because the projectiles were firing faster and thus met more resistance from the water, they would deviate or fragment only a few inches down while the slower pistol rounds actually penetrated much deeper. I would be very interested to see a test of firing underwater against another underwater target though, that would be very interesting.

Yeah I thought that was freaking genius as well. I remember watching Mythbusters like 13 years ago where there was a feature on shooting enemies underwater and I never forgot that lesson. Seeing those physics fully realised as a mechanic in an action sequence was balls-to-the-wall brilliant and satisfying, *chefs kiss 😘
