This mans songs hit home for me, I wouldn’t class myself as soft but Christ I let a tear go to his music. It’s bitter sweet, happy and pain. I shipped out from old Essex, England, and brought an 89 Pajero. Me and a mate drove her 15,000+ klms living in her. She was great. We started in Adelaide, drove to Melbs for a ferry to Taz. Worked the land living in the woods with only fire for heat, light n cooking. Drove around Tazzy girl for 3 months after the 18 hour work days ended, drove back from Melbourne to Adelaide then up the Stuart we went. Was bush long enough for a time in my life I didn’t know what bloody month I was in. She was hard going. Got to old Darwin and eventually worked my way around to Cairnes, skulled some cold ones before moving on to some place 3 hours away from Cook Town. Cool place, just not sure what she’s called. Any ways, worked the land till I cried, about 5 times over before hitting the road down to Syd. I really love your land mate! I love all the farmers, wildlife and vastness. I went Ferrell for so long it changed me, or maybe I found myself. Met a nice Canadian lady once I stopped living out a car, 10 years later we lived in NZ, England (my home) and Canada. I just gave up on her the other day, 4 years in the great Canadian Prairies and I was just to tired to carry on. You can’t change a tigers stripes. I miss my dog mind, lovely girl she was. I wish everyone with a half decent heart the best, and if some how some way this gets back to John, I would like to say thanks mate, thanks. I really love your land, with all me heart. My travels have taken me to 4 continents, 40+ countries and 1/3 of my life oversees. From -52 degrees to +48, from Cities to deserts, your music Sir travels well. Stay safe mate. Found out I can’t have kids, if I end up lucky enough to adopt I’d make it clear to that child to never worry about money. Don’t give up on ya dreams. I’d give them a home on my death bed, all they need to worry about is living a wonderful life. Hopefully on the road. Time for bed, got to go to an office in the morning where people will never know me, never really understand. Classic.

I've taken you away from all your friends Your family is all around the world I led you out to Hillbilly Road To horseflies an' lizards But I've opened up your eyes to what we were Taken you back to nature Not clean, not ordered In fact its out of control Hillbilly Road, the bush is out of sight The world has got so make believe you're gonna' die of fright When you're walkin' in the tall grass or the forest at night But Hillbilly Road... is holdin' on tight Sometimes it dun't rain Then it rains too much But little troubles go away When we touch Hillbilly Road, the bush is out of sight The world has got so make believe you're gonna' die of fright When you're walkin' in the tall grass or the forest at night But Hillbilly Road... is holdin' on tight Its holdin' on to freedom To be the way it is Its holdin' on to what we all are losing The world is preoccupied with makin' us all alike But Hillbilly Road... is holdin' on tight Hillbilly Road, the bush is out of sight The world has got so virtual you're gonna' die of fright When you're walkin' in the tall grass or the forest at night But Hillbilly Road... is holdin' on tight Hillbilly Road Hillbilly Road, the bush is out of sight The world has got so virtual you're gonna' die of fright When you're walkin' in the tall grass or the forest at night But Hillbilly Road... is holdin' on tight Hillbilly Road
