Anybody reading this who just played this song you are a bloody legend!! We get one life so make the most of it. Live in the moment, time is precious 🇦🇺❤️
This guy is amazing. I am in the United States but when I hear this song I wish so much I was Australian. I have turned so many of my friends on to John Williamson. I hope all you Australians appreciate the talent you have in this man.
U would probably like Paul Kelly too. He tells such vivid stories in his songs, sometimes the small stuff, sometimes big stuff like land rights & racism. Practically every aussie listens to his song HOW TO MAKE GRAVY@ xmas & we're not afraid to get teary over it.
@@jadecawdellsmith4009 I left in 1991. Living in Missouri ever since. I keep in touch through Facebook, I see the comments. As with everywhere right now, it's not the same. Don't know where you live, but it's not the same as how I remember. I could probably explain more if I knew where you were from. They are pushing the same as they are in California, if you know what I mean.
Hello🥰 How you doing today I hope you good and coping with the weather? Am using these means to reach out to my lovely and supporting fan of mine and am also using these means to thank you for supporting my career without you all am no one. Thank you for the likes and comment on my career I care about you
Played this at my dads funeral as they carried his Coffin. My dad loved John he went to see John in 2000 when he came to the uk and got a cd for me signed that’s said gday becky. I was 8 when my dad gave me it and I still have it now x
I was awake all night in the SE USA to watch Steve Irwin’s Memorial LIVE as John sang this song & was immediately hooked. I played it for my preschool class almost daily after that & they loved it. In the US, I compare the sentiment to ‘Find Out Who Your Friends Are’ by Tracy Lawrence. John’s song has a smoother sound, but Tracy’s song hits the heart in a similar way:)🙏🇺🇸🙏🇦🇺
What a bloody good song, we would play this song over and over while sitting on the bank of the Murray River camping. R.I.P. Mick. You were a true blue mate. 👍
This is really sad in these days. all i learned from my Aussie fam is always help your surroundings. wish i could visit my Aussie Fam again miss them...
For non-Australians who don’t know much about slang here/ “Hey True Blue, don’t say you’re gone. Say you’ve knocked off for a smoko and you’ll be back later on…” You can call someone who has a genuine heart True Blue. But the lines make me cry because instead of them being gone you wished they’d just stepped outside for smoke break and they’re coming back after. This is a great song for the funeral of someone who was always authentic and real, a true person.
@@davidhenschke44 Let's go back in time to the bad old days of about a year ago when Australians were being shot with rubber bullets at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne (just as one example amongst many).
When I was a kid mum used to have a john Williamson live cassette she played on the vcr. This was the late 80s. I will be eternally grateful to my mother for teaching me what it means to be an Australian at such an early age. For all my failures as a person I can always hold in my heart that I am me. An Aussie. And I have mum to thank for it.

We love you for your masterpiece, that touches the hearts of all Australians! What a beautiful song at your Dad's funeral to have!! I'll never ever forget being sang at our "National treasure, The Wonderful Steve Irwin's funeral was just a tearful, beautiful way to celebrate his life! ❤❤
Waltzing Matilda was actually written by a Scot ,as was the Australian national anthem, maybe that's why I have such a affinity with Australia , I have visited six times and hope to visit one more time before I depart this life , long live Australia
@@robertthomson4013 Angus & Malcolm Young, Jimmy Barnes, Colin Hay from Men At Work.... all purveyors of Aussie goodness. And Scots. All of them. I'm proud to be a Scottish-born Aussie. Plus I get two football teams to support :)
love the firies being featured in this vid. Merry Christmas to all our "heroes" and their families, to all who have lost their homes and lively-hoods and to all the farmers and country towns doing it tough. May the rains come very soon and may 2020 be everything we all wish for
I used to laugh at this song as an America-worshiping, 90s Aussie teenager. I now greatly admire the man’s authenticity. In a sea of Aussies faking US accents, Williamson stands tall and proud, unashamedly showcasing our unique drawl. I love our American friends and the amazing musical canon they’ve gifted the world. But Aussies must be proud of our own cultural identity.
i know u wont see this but i just wanna say that this song holds a special place in my heart and forever will because anytime i listen to the song i will forever think of my nan because she loved this song and we decided to play this at her funeral so thank you
Omg!!! This song also holds a safe place and special place in *my* heart too becasue Nan loved this song too and we played this song at her funeral too. I'm an Aussie and I love Nan. She wasn't an original Aussie but most people called her "more Aussie than most Aussies"
Today I feel like crying as I listen to this song. Im 44 and I grew up with these Aussie Proud songs 🇦🇺 ❤. Now they are all being cancelled and we are called racist. Australia is " just another dying race". When they "sell us out like sponge cake, will you really care". Unfortunately not enough Aussies really cared, and now China and the WHO owns us. Pauline Hanson new way back then. Bless her heart
I'd think it's hard to find an Aussie, whose not adoring this classic, it's always melted my heart, as a proud Aussie! It's amazing your lyrics John Williamson, love it! 🇦🇺🇦🇺🥰🥰🥰
@MarcosBryant-gk1jv John's a gifted, talented songwriter, musician and singer which I absolutely admire, especially in this particular song because John's touched on what's great about being Australian! That we've got a lot to appreciate with this wonderful landscape, easygoing nature, beautiful unique wildlife, our laid back attitude in relationships with family and friends! Being true blue to me is being honest to one another and giving each other a fair dinkum go! John's also a very humble man that's never been into the glamour and fame! He's just a true easy going bloke and quite the gentleman!
❤I love John Williamson and have seen him many times in concert, he is amazing and this song should be played on air every single Australia Day no matter what. Love you John, your talent and your courage and thank you for all your songs.❤❤❤
I've grown up with John's music and really enjoy every single song he has ever written, always from the heart! You give our country soul, mate, and you make us all proud to be True Blue. My brother Bruce has your CD collection, as he lives OS and is always homesick for the scenes you describe. Many thanks John. Just keep on singing... We love you.
For some reason this song always makes me think of Steve Irwin's funeral. He did a great job there. This song is absolutely timeless. Such an underrated song. Pure 'Australiana'.
This brings tears to my eyes it reminds me of my uncle we called uncle bluey who smoked and he was a firemen who was also very handy in his spare time I miss you uncle bluey
My grandad loved this song. He passed on the 26 October 202 and it was played at his funeral. Thank you for the memories. I love you grandad. Thank you John for everything, for making me and my grandad happy.

A big shout out to everyone in Oz; thinking of you with all of the devastation from the fires and extreme heat. Stay safe, stay strong, and stay True Blue!

I heard this song today in a market in Brisbane, as I walked by in the crowd. Took me straight back to Steve Irwin and his funeral. I have to admit it brought on a few tears. Amazing, the power of music to take you back in time.

Hey True Blue, don't say you've gone Say you've knocked off for a smoko And you'll be back la-ater on Hey True Blue, Hey True Blue Give it to me straight, face to face Are you really disappearing Just another dying race Hey True Blue True Blue, is it me and you Is it Mum and Dad, is it a cockatoo Is it standin' by your mate when he's in a fight Or just Vegemi-ite True Blue, I'm a-asking you Hey True Blue, can you bear the load Will you tie it up with wire Just to keep the show on the road Hey True Blue Hey True Blue, now be Fair Dinkum Is your heart still there If they sell us out like sponge cake Do you really care Hey True Blue [Chorus: x2]
Wow. Life in the bush can be pretty good. Amazing photograhy. Dont forget the CWA. And as for the volunteer fire fighters. These bush fires have been horrendous. Love and prayers to everyone affected.
I get a little sad when I hear this as Australia as I knew it is disappearing. We are so busy trying to please everyone that we have forgotten ourselves
Late 2023 . Still loving the sound after Twelve years in Africa I can tell you Australia is heaven compared to the rest of the world. I'm so glad I made it back here ....
