Johnny Burnette and the rock and roll trio - Hound Dog 

Johnny Burnette was an incredible and gifted performer and writer. He was just as important to rock and roll and modern music history as Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers. Elvis popularized the genre as the king, Ricky Nelson was the crown prince, and Johnny was guy who got little credit for his major contributions. His voice matured and got sweeter as he turned to pop rock and he found himself writing hit songs by himself. I for one am an eternal fan. I am so sad that we lost him on Clear Lake in California on the Summer's Eve. He was just on the first cloud of his rise to be one of the best writers. It would have been interesting to see him return to his Rockabilly roots and tour again. He had the background and success to be a major player. In all actuality, He was. Read and listen and come to Love him! It is worth it.
