Remembering this tribute back in 1995, it was incredibly difficult to come to terms with the fact that Selena was no longer with us when this aired at that time. Deeply moved once again, as were countless others seeing this tribute which profoundly affected Johnny Canales knowing Selena passed away. I believe he was warmly welcomed and reunited with Selena in the afterlife. May our awesome y gran Johnny Canales and our beautiful, precious Selena rest in peace.

I saw this when it aired. It was touching. And no one does it like selena- Johnny C. I'll always remember you- selena Rip ledgen of tex-mex shows. Without him, we wouldn't have other Spanish shows in Texas to watch. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Wooooow! I have Johnny's DVD's of selena preferences....wow. Jennifer Pena was on his show too, I remember watching her raise to fame.
This broke me, getting to know more content on Selena. Johnny Canales shared intimate details, on how she and her band struggled alot. Yet every performance she gave was 100%, you would never know she slept on a mattress on the floor. As they grew more successful, Selena still was humble. She ate canned sausages and potted meat, with crackers. Her diet consisted of gas station food so to speak, and Johnny Canales got a soft spot for her. She was a one of a kind, no doubt she would have been a global superstar. Him wanting to cry at the end, said it all how he and most fans felt the day she passed away. He knew her, watched her grow up, watched her become famous, and yet she still was the same young lady he met when she first started. She didn’t deserve to be murdered, and i can only imagine how he felt once the camera went off. RIP Mr Johnny Canales.

Thank you to the person who uploaded this!! I can't tell you how long I have been trying to find this here! I remember when this tribute to Selena aired, my mom had recorded it & we lost the tape she had recorded it on. About a year or so after she passed, I found the recorded tape, but I don't have a VCR anymore. It's been 9 years since my mom passed. Seeing that Johnny Canales has gone to his heavenly home, I choose to believe that he was greeted into the afterlife by Selena. R.I.P. Señor Johnny Canales & Nuestra Reina Selena.❤💙🌹🌹
Just shows how life is so Unfair!! Selena was taken way, way too, too soon from the World. Unfortunately, her Killer changed the course of history by one act of violence. The past 29 years, the World is SUCH a LESSER PLACE without Selena. May Selena Rest in Eternal Peace. 😢❤

1st time seeing this tribute this is awesome I was born in 88; I really really appreciate the 90s era. It brought some powerhouse artists Selena and the Dino’s rocked these shows. Condolences to both families Quintanilla’s and Canales❤️
I grew up learning both, Spanish and English, and still, I mix both like Selena. lol It's ok to laugh at yourself when you have a hiccup. So many loved her for her looks and talent, I get it. However, my favorite thing about her was her personality and how silly she was. She was the definition of LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH. That's what inspires me about her. I'd like to say I'm an OG fan, I was a fan of hers for years before she passed. I was little girl carrying around her Ven Conmigo and Entre Mi Mundo cassettes. And you know I had to get Amor Prohibido too. I always and still love her songs that were considered not as "popular" or the "B SIDES." I loved watching Johnny Canales because of her. :) also remember recording this Johnny Canales special on a VHS tape, but my mom kept it.
