R.I.P Mr. Canales your spirit will continue to live on through the countless lives you touched and the legacy you built. As a kid I grew up watching you introduce up and coming Latinos and great music to the community. You will be missed.
It’s a shame. I didn’t know Salena except through her English songs. Which played on my grocery store radio station. If it wasn’t for the store playing her songs. I may have never known who she was. But I caught her as she was about to transition into English. Rest In Peace. We’ll see you in Paradise.
@@user-qc5yy3mj9j he didn’t call her grande. He called her dad grande. And drummer was an honest mistake. They make mention in the first episode that there wasn’t many female drummers in bands especially in those days except for rock bands. Plus he corrected himself. Johnny was a jokester. But he was fun to watch If you know the culture. Especially Mexican culture. Words like grande, morena, huera, cachetona, etc are terms of endearment He even joked about his brother being panzón at the end.
@@orlandomolina7192 True that there weren’t many female drummers, but he’s known them and had them on his show for years. In older interviews he calls Suzette by name and would still makes weight jokes. But Ima just look at it as him joking tho
It’s so sad what happened to her. I actually saw her way back in 1993. She was an amazing performer. She had such a great personality. I watched the Netflix series. It was pretty well done. But it made me sad. I think Selena would’ve been a huge crossover star had she lived. May her memory live on. Thank you Selena 🙏🏾
We Miss You SELENA!! I fell in Love with you when I was like 7 years old, and I was almost 10yo when you passed away and it hurt so much. I will never forget that fateful day when my cousin called my mom up and told her to put on the news. I didn't sleep good that night 😥 #LONGLIVESELENA
Growing up here in California West Coast as a kid we watched The Johnny Canales Show and that is what got us as kids to fall in love with Tejano music, Norteño music, and Conjuntos like La Sombra de Chicago and especially the all time favorite Selena🇺🇸🇲🇽🙏
Used to watch Johnny Canales back when he had his show. I never knew how much he helped Selena and Los Dinos with their careers. Always loved his Spanglish and his signature saying. You got it take it way!
I saw a tribute interview with Johnny few years ago, he was talking about selena saying he knew the little girl had many talent under the palm of her hands and he saw her as a big star since she first started out on his show with los dinos and he was right even today she's still being celebrated and remembered by those who love her and her music.
@@Brittney336 thank you for this nice comment, Selenna was a beautiful soul on earth, she was there to spread her love, her passion for music and to restore hope, done 😉
They were on Johnny Canales so much and he gave them the good luck kick, and they didn’t show any of the Johnny Canales show on the series 😏 only when she said “ pintarr “ to me that wasn’t enough he was a big part of how a lot of us got to know of Selena
My uncle was woth the Kumbia kings in the early to mid 2000's when i lived with him in corpus and before she passed away she called the house in Victoria tx and asked to speak to him. Mucho ángel, carisma, simpatia que tenía Selena. Excelente cantante y bailarina. Un gran show que hacía en vivo. Magnífico El programa de Johny Canales, siempre apoyando a Los Latinos. Bonitos recuerdos
I met Johnny Canales when I was a kid. My cousin was a boxer, he was a friend of uncle. My uncle sang on a band as a teen they were garage buddies. It wasn't until I was 15 that I learned he was a tv personality. He was a very very sweet man. Funny thing he'd always wear boots. Feels odd seeing him on this video in a suit.
I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Luis Bordunda on set. He is the one who played Johnny Canales in the Selena series. I worked with him as an extra in the movie Illegals.

yes! Im from Matamoros and I used to watch this show with my Dad. I love the show just for Selena. What a memories, I love the series because shows Selena's beginning.
Missing her R.I.P. ; Pete.es mi neighbor still have the bus on front of his house! Y la mire en 1994 en Nv Laredo Tamp. That's real music awesome the way she dance.until now nobody dance like Selena!
Every time selena spoke to people she gave them her undivided attention and looked at them in the eyes when she spoke to them. Seriously love her so much. I miss her and I never met her. She had such beautiful ways. Such a tragic loss.
+Memories In Pictures Biotin! In fact, some family members thought she was pregnant when she died because they found out she was taking biotin (she wasn't pregnant though)
Incorrect. Selena was taking "folic acid" which is a vitamin used by many women who are planning to have a baby. Biotin is for strengthening hair follicles and assisting hair growth. +katiekinz3303
Descanse en Paz Johnny Caneles 🌹🎙🎼🎸 📺🙏🏼✝️💐 So sentimento interview with the beautiful great Selena🌹🎙🎼🎸 Like many grew up watching his show with my family. Thanks for the memories 🌹 🙏🏼 🎼 📺 🎙 💐
Great video never seen this one...it's just Abraham never looked happy, no smiles always serious. But Selena enjoyed the family and the life of her music! Miss Selena and she is the Queen of Tejano forever!
I remember when this show would come on, I think it was on Saturday nights. We only had the local free channels and there was nothing else to watch, I hated it! 😂
Us too! Lol. But I thought it was on Saturday mornings because Sabado Gigante was on in the evening! Johnny Canales was the shyt tho, I looked forward to watching the show as a kid! I miss this show!
For everyone wondering why Chris Perez (guitarist) is not in this 1991 video, it is because Abraham (Selena's father) had fired him during this time. He did not approve of their relationship. In Chris Perez' book about his time with Selena, he explains all of this -- joining Selena y Los Dinos band in 1990 and eloping with Selena (April 2, 1992). I hope this helps to answer some questions. Selena was a beautiful talent who will continue to live on through her amazing music. ♥
this video took place in October of 1990 lol not 1991 she had just released her ven conmigo album chris was on and off with the band from 1989 - 1990 theres a video of him performing with them in 1989 on youtube and pics of him with the band in 1990 which is when this video took place from 1991 and so on chris stayed with the band and eventually him and selena would get married
SELENA and Chris started to date in '91 and eloped in '92. Did y'all see her original vid to her crossover song, 'Dreaming of You?'. It was based on SELENA and Chris elopement.
ElectrikZombie I read that Chris started in the band around 89 or 90. It was definitely before 91 when he was playing on guitar on and off in the group.
