Johnny Carson as Reagan, a "Who's On First" spoof

Johnny Carson is posing as Ronald Reagan preparing himself for a press conference. Originally aired in 1982, it is a spoof on the famous Abbott & Costello "Who's On First" routine. Except this time it is Hu (premier of China), Watt (Sec of Interior, James Watt), Where, Y (YMCA), and Yassir (Arafat). Fred Holliday (born Fred Grossinger) is the actor playing Reagan's Chief of Staff.

+RetroGuy76 Hi, it's Dr. James' wife, Debra here. It was my dad. My maiden name is Grossinger and my dad changed his name legally to Holliday some time during his acting career, but he was originally Fred Grossinger. Thank you for commenting. I was there when he filmed it. I was young but I still remember.

Johnny did another skit where he played Ronald Regan again. At one point he call for a person to come and help him with something. This was the same actor as in this skit. Johnny called "Jim, would you come here?" He responded with "Yassir." Johnny was so taken aback that he had to check the cue cards to make sure no one was pulling a fast one on him. I'm so glad my dad showed me about Johnny Carson as a kid... I bet a lot of people my age don't know him. I'm 28 now.

This is the way Saturday Night Live handled satirizing the president back in the '70s, gently with real humor and without a knife. Very enjoyable and a nice take off on the classic "Who's on First."
