I must admit, this is not my type of music, usually! but with Johnny Cash, I am very pleased too make a special case! he makes you feel, like you are part of a song, with that very unique bass baritone voice. and this is coming from a prog rock, and David bowie fan.
At 9:15 i luv how he apologizes for his guitar...such a gracious humble man...RIP on this the 15th anniversary of ur leaving this earth....always loved and missed ❤❤
Just watched a Documentary about Johnny Cash in the UK, and one guy describes his performance of Beast in Me here as like watching one of the Great Actors performing Shakespeare. And yes, that's it exactly. Fantastic.
+bluesatsunset I agree with you apart from" the lord" bullshit....Keep your fairy story uneducated american delusions to yourself and just enjoy the music...
+Josh Whitaker I am being generous here but I guess that you meant "you,re a dumb fuck"...I,ts the difference between saying "Your shit and you,re shit ...get it? What happened is that I learned to think for myself and not just believe ,without question what the grown ups were telling me was the truth...lol...
Thank goodness for the likes of Rick Rubin for helping my generation rediscover Johnny. All of us punks, rockers and burnouts needed. Still love Johnny's Glenn Danzig story.
I saw this show when it was on TV, and it was the first I'd seen of Johnny for a few years. A couple of years later, I saw him live and it was the last tour he did... because his health broke down.... So Im thankful I had that chance...
I can`t say I`m a huge fan but what a great interview . A lot of Jool`s interviewees are too cool to answer questions but Johnny is loving it even singing along to old footage of him .
That guitarist is Bob Wootton, Johnny guitarist for nearly 40 years, he replaced the great Luther Perkins. He was voted one of the top 1000 guitarists of all time. He was also Johnnys brother in law, he was married to Anita Carter until her passing.
Love Johnny Cash. I swear though, whenever I see him now I keep just seeing that meme of him eating cake in a bush. lol "You may be high but you'll never be Johnny Cash eating cake in a bush high.". Regardless, I've always loved him and his music. :)
A great man who was a great musisian. He as done and created the music for many years.Even todays we are listening his music and we will going to listen again and again for the next years!!
CJ Mooney Perhaps he was the most popular - like he was in most places, but there are plenty of country singers that became popular in England. Hank Williams snr!
great story about Johnny and Nick Cave doing a song, poor Nick cave was so nervous he missed his lines and fucked the take, but being an incredible human being and total professional the Great Cash said "sorry Nick I was a bit off there, lets re do that" Nick Cave has said Johnny Cash was "My Elvis"
Johnny was doing more for civil rights before it became popular specially for the Native Americans he could have made a lot more money but yet he went to a lot of Prisons and sang for them I miss Johnny Cash and June Carter very much I wish there was more of these people that are popular that would take stand for what is right and I'm not talking about jumping on the bandwagon at the last minute when Injustice becomes popular
I hate Country Music but Johnny made it sound so much better than the shit songs like "Tear in My Beer". A true legend and superstar who wrote classics that are timeless.
