It bothers me when people try to equate drug addiction with moral shortcomings. A person should be held accountable for their actions when under the influence, but being intoxicated is not immoral in itself. I don't know what happened between these two people, but I hate this line of argument.

This is a logical fallacy called ad hominum. They are doing it in a more roundabout way because they can't just come out and say you snorted Coke so you beat your wife. What they're trying to do is make him look like a bad person to the jury. They are trying to paint him in a way that cast doubt upon the information that hes providing. I don't think it's working

even if he did drugs, and was violent.. these pictures profe that somewhere in sometime there was coke.. doesnt mean he did this coke nor that on this occasion he hit someone. althought i think he did all the coke and whiskey.. but this whole relationship is too messy.. how could you sentence the other without the other.

@@leticiascfb Well put. Its almost as if this case is about "Did Depp Do Drugs" rather than about domestic violence. Amber Herald was my high school celebrity crush and I always thought Depp was weird so I was very biased in her favour. In the words of M.Scott "Oh how the turn tables...."

I don't know who's right or wrong this was certainly a toxic relationship but This is a Hollywood courtroom. The average person is usually not allowed to give context or backstory to a yes or no question. He seems to behave taking Klonopin . Or pretending to be fumbling for dates that he knows. Remember this has been to British court and he is having trouble finding 'line 16 on page 28' when he has read scripts for 40 years. he is being Charming Johnny Depp to the jury. We will see if it is working. The real truth hopefully comes out

The UK trial didn't have a jury, they have a different system, and he wasn't suing Amber, he was suing a newspaper. Easy to judge when it's not your life and far removed from the situation.

Absolutely, the number of times I've seen drama caused on nights out and people blame it on alcohol. Alcohol allows us to behave how we really want to behave in everyday life, as you said, It reveals the true nature of a person.

Alcohol and drugs don't make you violent, they just free you from the fear of repercutions, a violent person might be tamed by society but when under alcohol, said violence will come back up. Their whole time talking about his drug and alcohol abuse was wasted. I'm proud of him for battling his addictions and coming out on top that takes real courage and determination

I'd say the comedown of say cocaine can make violent its not necessarily the active time but after it when you get the urge to take more but cant/wont and you start to feel really uncomfortable if a person then fucks with you you'd probably give a bad Response not necessarily violence but probably that too

He most certainly had a serious drug addiction. I don’t buy that he was abusive, but he certainly had an addiction.

@@Timorio this is 1 of like 4-5 photos supposedly taken at the same time. Each one shows items moved to be better visible from each angle. All the items are arranged to be better seen by the camera. If you take into account JD is supposed to be sitting in the chair at the top of the photo with his newspaper and phone you will start to see how staged this photo is. Everything is arranged for someone sitting at the bottom of the photo...which would be Amber's chair.

Given the numerous recordings she made of their lives basically from day one, why was she never able to capture him actually harming her? No one starts taping that early in a relationship without an ulterior motive. She testified that the reason she taped so many discussions was it was part of their assigned couples therapy; HOWEVER, her tapings began long before they ever attended a session. I really hope his team questions her about this during this trial.

Yeah the only time such things are relevant is if they are a factor in the accusations leveled against you that were committed on such substances at the time. Bringing up a substance abuse from 9 years ago has 0 relevance in a case like this. But that is the 'use the law like a hammer' mentality for you.

Meh, druggies are pretty cringe. Anyone who touch drugs should rot in a cell for the rest of their lives life, or more efficiently, be put down with a bullet. The issue here, however, is that Heard as a civilian has no jurisdiction to carry out physical punishments on Depp. "Punishing" a bad person probably isn't her motive in the first place, but motives shouldn't matter anyway, only the repercussions of your actions. When she uses violence on him, and he isn't directly threatening her with violence first, that's just plain assault. The moment evidence makes it clear that she used violence and not in self defense, she should likewise be shipped off to die. Really dunno why any of this is taking so long.

Through my personal experiences drinking alcohol i have been extremely aggressive and violent. I would blackout and go mad pissing in the middle of a kitchen laughing with my privates out for everyone to see. I have assaulted other men for being what i thought was disrespectful no matter the outcome. In my experience there is no way you can hide the fact you’re a nasty drunk because again in my personal opinion that i have accumulated from experience. It takes the smallest thing to set you off and it’s out the window you become this… i become this nasty vicious animal. Johnny is not that animal. I take cocaine i want to murder someone Johnny takes cocaine and cracks jokes drinking whiskey. How could he only of ever been violent with his wife.

Said angry things over text about amber to his friend. Generous to his and her friends and family. Lets them go on trips. Even lets some of them live in a penthouse for free. What you see is powder. Could be anything. A joint? Who says it is a joint? It looks like a joint, but actually it is just a roll of burnt paper looking like a joint. What I am trying to state is: if a person denies the obvious, no lawyer could prove what it was lol "yeah, looks like it, but you cannot prove it." Simple.

There's no point to this photo. I don't think it had an impact on the jury one way or another, and there's no need for his side to bring it back up. All they need to do is ask JD to briefly describe his drug addiction and his drug and alcohol use over the years. Then, ask him if he's ever been accused of behaving differently when high and has he ever struck a woman or anyone, for that matter. So far, the only thing that's landed during cross is his testimony that he was sober for 18 months before arriving in Australia. The defense was able to show it was substantially less.
