Love when you have Ed on the podcast! This was such a great listen, it’s always important to be self aware and conscious of your thought patterns, actions, etc. we can all fall into the trap of negativity and stagnation
One of my friends has BPD and she goes to therapy. Unlike the person in the story, she's not a terrible person and doesn't let BPD "control" her or use it as an excuse. I did know another person who did do constant pity parties and acted like nothing was ever his fault. I don't know if he has BPD, but it did look like they have some personality disorder. They tried to tell people that we had sex as some way to get back at me for cutting him off and the people in the room literally laughed in his face. He doesn't have any good qualities and doesn't really have friends. Even if Amber has BPD, especially with her resources she has no excuse (my friend lives in California and she has a therapist with way less money). It was also said her dad physically and probably verbally abused her. It's interesting how some abuse victims try to be as different from their abuser and others end up being just like them. Johnny's mom abused him.
The whole talk about looking back at your past behavior and what you could have changed has caused me to sit down and think about a lot, theres a lot I can change and work on but I wouldnt have been so introspective without sitting down and listening to this talk, its truly a difficult thing looking at your past actions sometimes but I think its huge in growing and becoming a better person and will only benefit future relationships.

To add to what David and Ed were talking about, BPD stems from an abusive childhood, neglect and being punished for trying to show independence. When children are punished for that, they learn that they have to be dependent on others, to an extreme level. And with that, it also develops this intense fear of abandonment which we saw in evidence and testimony throughout the trial. Hence why manipulation can appear within BPD, however it is not within every single client who suffers from BPD. The common symptoms is emotional dysregulation, lack of tolerance levels, and impulsivity. Hope this helps ❤️
When you guys started talking about toxic friendships. Ohh. Y'all hit it on the spot for me. I had a falling out with people I had been friends with for over a decade at the end of last year because they went behind my back and hid things from me after I told them not to get involved with someone in my family. Confirmed they were still talking about it recently. LOL. I just kept nodding my head to everything you guys were saying. Some people think that some of their "friends" can do no wrong, and expect me to apologize and reconcile. I've lost a lot of family members in 2021, and that made me see how fleeting life is. That I dont need to deal with people's BS anymore and be selfish on who I want to keep around me regardless of how long we had been friends. Preach it y'all. Preach!

I think "believe all women" was a misquote of "believe women." It doesn't mean believe her because she's a woman and don't question it at all, it's that unfortunately some people will victim blame or assume it's a lie instead of listening or helping. It'd be like if you got shot and instead of people calling the ambulance and getting you to a hospital, they start asking, "Why were you walking there?" "Were you wearing something that made them think you deserved it?" "Were you antagonizing them?" "did they really shoot you?"

The thing is with believing all victims is that false accusations are very rare and so many victims are scared of being told they’re lying and not believed. You can show that you validate their feelings and that you believe them and help them get their case investigated but I think something that needs to change is keeping the perpetrators identity anonymous until evidence is provided or finding way a to avoid defamation of innocent folks in this circumstances. So if someone is innocent they don’t have their whole reputation ruined. That way true victims aren’t automatically shut down because case of issues with false accusations but also innocent people aren’t dragged into liars games.

Hi David, Please please do a movie review and discussion on the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once - it’s a visual masterpiece but the actual story really touches on my own experience as being the daughter of an immigrant. I personally feel like you will be impressed as a film lover but admire how well they crafted the storyline to our generation. I would love to see you give spot light to this movies message and the assemble. It’s funny you didn’t like Crazy Rich Asian but that movie sorta created the stepping stone for this Oscar worthy movie to be created and give the Asian community a bigger voice. It pays homage to so many films and made me weep like crazy. So please do it David - I come to your channel bc I love when you and your friends break down movies/shows.
In my experience those types of friends cut themselves out. The rest of us are left thinking wtf happened. It is what it is. Good luck to them and their endeavors.

It's tiff and case. The toxic one is Tiff in this situation. 1. He and Tiff were never really super close. 2. Tiff and Case were known amongst the group for having pretty turbulent relationship issues. 3. Tiff used to constantly call all of her friends from the past losers and would cresit jk for changing her life. 4. Casey developed a lying problem because tiff would get super angry and upset about literally anything he did. 5. Tiff and Case and David went to Japan together, an Asian country. 6. These people are no longer a part of the friend group- Tiff and Case were removed from the JK family. 7. Tiff always played victim in just about any story she retold and recounts. 8. This person had a child separately from their partner, based solely off of the use of "in front of your/her child". 9.This person tried to ruin the lives of the people in the friend group- Tiff makes a video talking about how jk didn't offer her any severance pay and they just randomly fired her.
@@antoinettetruss1991 i know David will never confirm it out of respect for the other party but i had my suspensions it may be them during the whole podcast. i know their circle of friends were basically the JK crew and it makes sense to narrow it down to them since they've been cut off from everyone. Tiff and Case have said they're going through or have went through marriage counseling to mend their relationship. But it's all hearsay since we will truly never know but won't be surprise if it is either.
Knew it was tiff and case when he talked about eating on the subway in a foreign country and I remember when tiff said she ate a wrap or something on the subway in Japan when she knew she wasn’t supposed to. Yikes. People who watch/follow the OG JK knows who David is talking about.

Heyo all. I have BPD. What you are describing when you talk about suddenly becoming the enemy is called "splitting". It's a self defense mechanism classic with BPD people and it just means they have you on a high pedastal. We desperately want the validation and security of love that is pretty unreasonable (hence where control issues come in) and when that delusion is cracked, the fear of rejection hits and its like we're dying (there's an audio clip out there of Amber begging Johnny to stay and talk instead of leaving because she thinks it's over and she'll die) it's overwhelming so it's better to see you as just overall bad I unfortunately have to agree that you cannot help someone with BPD, you can ONLY help if they are helping themselves. The thing with BPD is that it's like going into a addiction meeting. You have to own up to all your shit and hold yourself accountable before treatment can begin, which is essentially practicing mindfulness and soticism. Behavioral therapy takes time so if you know someone who is getting help and slip up once in a while, please, call them out on it. We need the feedback and helps with taking constructive criticism. Builds the tough skin. I cannot speak for all who have it, but I personally felt relieved when I was diagnosed as it explained a lot. I can't help but feel bad for Amber as I know all of this stems from trauma, but yeah‐‐that shit doesn't fly, EVER.

Hope David learns a bit more about Elon Musk. The guy’s less of an ingenious green energy creator and more of a diamond mining trust fund kid who bought Tesla. Like maybe you can argue he’s a really good marketer and businessman, but he also has a bunch of the negative traits of a businessman (violating worker/human rights, not following through on public projects he got tax dollars for, etc.) and isn’t the tech savant people think he is.
That’s incorrect. When he got to Tesla, there was no prototype, no battery, no plant, no IP, nothing. The guy almost went broke after making a fortune with PayPal trying to find Tesla, space transport, etc. I’m not a fan of everything he does but what you’re saying is just factually wrong.
I have bpd and I hate the villainization of our disorder because of Amber Heard. We are not all like her and we do not claim her. Something that isn't talked about or understood enough about bpd is that most of us are not delusional, dramatic, and hysterical like everyone makes us out to be. Most of us are self aware. We even over analyze our own actions and thoughts as a result of years (in my case, my entire childhood) of our feelings and thoughts being downplayed or dismissed. Bpd is a personality disorder of not being in control to whims of our emotions. Just like any other disorder or mental illness there is a scale and Amber Heard was the worst of us.
