I used to think Johnny was just an unhappy, antagonistic musician who hated everybody and made lousy music. Mea culpa. It's great to now realize how insightful he is and that he is capable of warmth and humour. And the music has aged well, sounding a lot like some of today's bands. No surprise since so many bands were influenced by his music. God save the queen, long live John Lydon!
I once heard him say he used to care for kids before he joined the Pistols (like daycare or assistant teacher, something like that...and it connects with the way he has cared for his wife and his stepchildren (nephews or some other). I found it deeply funny and ironic. And then I realized that his true talents were in this field and that he is empathic by nature. It took all these years to come out clearly.
@@MargaLilaandPets Seems he's been a sheep in wolf's clothing all along. I didn't know about his work with kids or the situation with his wife. He certainly mentions family a lot these days. Happy for him.
@@vince5348 Well, he's almost 70 years old. Men usually mellow out with age. Probably a combination of learned life experiences and lower testosterone. Still has a sharp wit and a unique take on things.
@@opeeate I hope that your spouse or loved one will be more important to you than the character you you play on stage or on RU-vid. He could have kept his performance up and stuck his wife in a medical maintenance facility like most Westerners do. I am sure that you will be just as dedicated taking care of your loved one with dementia while maintaining your fictional persona for dedicated "fans". But some people feel they need to make a choice, and do the responsible loving thing. I respect that over "Hollywood phonies"more concerned with their images. But that's just me.
I absolutely love Johnny so it's great to see all these interviews with him. He speaks a lot of sense and the truth, he is so entertaining! Looking forward to the PIL concert! ❤❤
Johnny Rotten........the last person I thought would grow up to be so bloody WISE and Smart! I love the Man you have become Mate! BRILLIANT! PS I can't help but like Elisabeth as my Queen, she's been wonderful (she can't help being a bit of a toff for obvious reasons Ay!) God Save the Queen from KiwiLand! : ) : )
I'm a paddy and I like Elisabeth to and wish her a happy jubilee but I like John better and wish we had even one person in public life politician or celebrity here in Ireland like him we're suffering from woke poisoning over here.
I'm a leftie listening to the show. Be careful with the prejudices, they can trip you up; there are people of all political persuasions who actively listen to other views.
@@deanpd3402 I find myself wondering who the division serves. And it's not us; right, left or in between. It doesn't help the people. Homogeny is the enemy of progress; we need all views in order to understand our choices. There are also a lot of issues that are difficult. Plus we're all flawed. So there you go.
My heart broke irreparably upon the news of Her Majesty the Queen. I'm 62 and she has been the one undeniable constant in my life, all my life. There shall never be another like Her!bsolutely adore Johnny. He tells it like it is!! God bless the Queen!
@@karenscigliano9787 and you should be up to date on recent developments. I'm talking about big oil companies pillaging underdeveloped countries, crooked politicians and cannibal generals
People don't realize that John Lydon is not the same person he was 10 years ago, let alone 40 years ago. Stuff that you find exciting at 20 may not be enjoyable at 30, 40, or 50. The edgy persona he built while in the Sex Pistols is a thing of the past.
He has never really change his core belives. Its the world that has changed. In the 70s he right was the ones trying to cancell and censor people today its the left. In reality whomever is ruling the show are going to repress the differing voices
@@opeeate think about it. You're in your 20s and you're out clubbing with the boys. That's fine at 20 but when you're still doing it in your 50s and 60s, it comes off as really sad and pathetic. Same with punk bands. It's fine when you're in your 20s but when you're pushing 50/60 it's like you've never grown up.
I have to say, is it only me or has John changed over the years..? Maybe I'm not intellectual enough, but i have some difficulties understanding John sometimes . Is he contradicting himself? Remember in 91/92 when i discovered the Sex Pistols . I was 16/17 at the time, i thougt they where the coolest thing ever. I didn't like much of the music that was current at the time, but the pistols blew my mind. I did come to follow the pistols over the years, though i did also like other kinds of alternativ music aswell. Siouxsie and the banshees, Joy Division, the Smiths and Cocteau twins to name a few. But to see John now, it's a bit different then he used to be. Even when the Sex Pistols reunited in 96, he resembled more the John in 77 then he does today. In the end i belive we all change somehow, but still.. But like i said, maybe i don't understand what he actually is trying to say. Hope all of you here is fine, and have a great day.
Johnny has a great sense of humor and is logical ; 2 characteristics gone missing among the woke crowd. Woke is still wet behind the ears but growing like a cancer . Woke is total idiocy.
Not that he misunderstood what made him famous- simply the fact that he doesn’t care if that’s what you expect of him, he’s going to do what he wants. Funny how when Kurt Cobain does that, it’s cool, but then John Lydon does it and he’s “misunderstood what made him famous”? I guarantee if Kurt was alive today you wouldn’t say that to him. Did you know one of Kurt’s inspirations were the Sex Pistols?
If you don't like the "woke agenda" then talk about Economics. You used to call yourself an Anarchist. No Anarchist I talk to has a "woke agenda" they have an Economic agenda. Stateless Egalitarianism can only be reached through economic reform. Non- monetary Mutalism is the goal. Or at the very least a mostly decommodified market. Liberals talk about culture, not Leftist. And if you don't know the difference between the Left (Anarchist, Syndicalist, etc) and Liberals then YOU have been tricked by the media. Liberals are centrists who make constant appeals to Facists.
Well I don't know wheather the British monarchy should go or stay when Elizabeth moves on but as an outsider looking in I do think that replacing her with an old man smells very much of north Korea.
Jesus I'm in shock someone allowed on TV who tells the truth Jonny just called out the hypocrisy that's in politics and the establishment world wide and this new woke culture that's been shoved down on our throats wish we had someone like John in Ireland fair play Pearce Morgan
Give me Johnny Rotten. He was a true revolutionary. Now..omg. He votes right, loves the queen and worse, the pageantry. It's all gone. Ah well.. what's done is done.
Rest in Peace and God Save The Queen. Rock on forever J Lydon, from Seattle. If yanks could vote for the next Monarchy head. I think Harry Stiles could win it!
Dislike presenter. Lots of fake laughter. And he just had to mention megan. He obsessed. Only watched to listen to John lyndon. Very interesting person.
"I'm voting conservative because I can rely on hypocrisy but I'm not voting for lunacy". Best quote I've heard in a long time. I'm a yank and the pistols are immortal. I'm going to play the song Pretty vacant and I'm going to turn it up to 11 and raise my pint of Newcastle in honor.
Proof there is a charm in being an almost unapologetic obnoxious preteen forever ? That guy has attitude, no-one likes to be given attitude...a mystery.
I like this guy. Lots of respect to him for understanding the RIGHT way!!!!! Being lefty is a mistake, remaining lefty for the rest of your life is a mental condition. 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🇮🇹
yes pierce.. you know all about hypocrisy right???? when everyone is told they can't travel due to covid( which you also espoused), where did you jet off? was it Antigua ?
Not much to do with the conversation going on - although, I'm typing this on the day Elizabeth left us.....but do your research and find out for yourselves who Iceman, from Topgun was based on. Don't be too surprised to find out it's Deniz Tek, from Radio Birdman!
Respect for the Royal Family and especially Harry and William because this event, walking behind the coffin ,remind them 25 years earlier. The Queen denied somehow atrocities made in Africa,India and in the West Indies but I don't think she's totally responsible even if she is but the Institutions had a lot of responsibilities in it. Rotten and Morgan are of Irish descent. Its normal to criticize this monarchy even if Pierce doesnt. its not normal that William to be Prince of Wales.A foreigner to be . I understand why the Queen was used to go to Balmoral,as her mum was Scot and she always remembers her, like her dad as she had his portrait at her desk. Coloniazation is a fact and Im sure the Fab4 will change it even if the Institutions... But the Queen was a strong person, she resisted through personal problems!
