@@Xxsorafanit depends. If you don't get along Johnny will be really anal about this ending and it isn't as emotional as this one because he still acts like an asshole. I like it this way though, like to think that being in V's head taught Johnny some lessons how not to be an asshole and he learned some of them. At least that's how it appears in the Temperance ending.
For some reason, the game only tells you V's real name at sad moemts, like when jonny talks to you at the end or when the doll at clouds gives you a therapy session about death
Yeah, I think sending So Mi to the moon and then doing Don't Fear the Reaper is probably the best ending overall. Although Kind of Wands (aka sending her to moon) and Star (Nomad) is also quite good.

I don't know. As brutal as it sounds, the Aldecaldo ending felt way too clean for a Cyberpunk story. And V doesn't seem to like letting things go, so it doesn't really suit them imo.

Both male and female V voice actors are phenomenal, but for different ways, which makes it even better. Both male and female V are very different people. Female V saying “I promise. No idea what, but I promise…” she sounds like young scared girl, and it’s beyond heartbreaking.
Really wouldn't say male V is 'phenomenal'. Male V was lucky to have survived such a high-profile voicing gig without getting completely panned. Female V handled everything perfectly, but I try to avoid male V whenever I can.

I’ve had to defend Male V voice and now I gotta do the same bullshit for female v. Nah, you’re wrong. Both VA’s are phenomenal, and both succeed in creating a great character that is unique from the other. It comes down to preference on the player’s part. Which is a good thing. @@lukemorgan6166
I have a more optimistic view. Sure, V lost a couple of their friends at the end, but keep in mind the game only takes place over a few weeks. They've still got friends in Kerry, Judy, Vic and Misty, possibly even River once he comes to terms with what he did and Reed seems to genuinely want to do right by them. They've lost their combat implants sure, but they're still a fully able human with more world experience than most, and it's not like that're the only person without implants, hell, they can still have non combat implants, so are still better off than some. Then for the future they've got a world of jobs open to then, including fixer or FIA, and contacts galore. They'll still be wealthy too even if they lost their physical possessions, and they have enough contacts to get many of their things back or open up new opportunities. Basically, V's still doing better than most people and have a hell of a story to tell. They've got a possibility of a positive future, and johnny with all his anger at the world has finally been laid to rest.

V can either choose to work for the FIA, and be essentially completely beholden to them and be a cog in the NUSA machine... not unlike Songbird, except the cage isn't even all that gilded and our cog is a hell of a lot more minor. OR, can turn down the offer, and go back to NC. Only thing is, you made a looooot of enemies. V was on the shitlist of about 20 different corps, 100 different gang bosses, and ten thousand gangers, pretty much no matter how you played you pissed SOME folks off. Even if 99% of them forgot about you or forgive you, still a pretty huge amount who hate their guts- and now V has absolutely no ability to meaningfully defend themselves. Sooner or later, that'll catch up to them. As for becoming a fixer using their contacts, well, Rogue still seems to be in power, but already the city has changed drastically. If you're a street kid, you can try to invoke Padre's name to get the thug to stop mugging you. He laughs at you and says "Old robed freak even got pushed out of HEYWOOD!" before laughing some more and knocking you out. But that's just how things will shake out from a spiritual perspective. How do I think the ending should feel? Why does it FEEL so hollow, even though it's not entirely pessimistic in some parts? It's because V has lost most of what makes them "V". All of their friends have changed drastically or completely left them behind and moved on. All of their proficiency in their chosen career has been utterly and permanently erased. Most of the things that defined V have been ripped away. That's already sad... but the ending keeps on giving us chances to ask whether we had made the right choice. Why does that hurt more here? Because in this ending, after giving Songbird up, V is experiencing a small portion of what Songbird is during that time. Certain dialogue options reveal that what she's most terrified of is being returned to her cage and losing who she is. She outright states that she's reached the point where if they make her continue running, she'll experience a personality death fairly soon. Even more terrifyingly, in one narrative path she states that the remaining fragments of her personality will end up continually fraying and stuck beyond the blackwall, utterly alone and destroyed, wandering for eternity in a torturous state without really knowing why. She BEGS you to kill her rather than to let this happen. So the whole time V is in a coma, Songbird is functionally being tortured by the NUSA and being kept "alive" but alone even from ultraloyal people like Reed. Likely means there's not much of her left, that everything that made her "her" was being stripped away and made into a tool for Myers. Losing what made her herself, just like V.
@JB-xl2jc I just can't see things as being so negative. He's being offered a desk job for the FIA as a favour from Reed, not to become some special classified weapon for them, or even a field operative. It may not be the most thrilling job, but it's a safe career that many people are perfectly happy with in life, outside of night city. Most, if not all of his enemies, are dead or don't actually know who he is, especially with him being out of the picture for 2 years. It's not like he had assassins or hitmen being sent after him constantly. Mr Hands showed you can stay anonymous and still be a highly influential fixer, and V is still one of the most deadly individuals in night city with his core skill set once he builds his strength back up. I mean, Morgan Blackhand proves that with the right skills and equipment, someone can survive with minimal implants and still go toe to toe with the toughest night city has to offer. Finally, technology is advancing. There may be something that comes along and allows him to use combat enhancements again, or he may be able to get hold of some enhanced armour and weapons to make up for his lack of chrome using his contacts and wealth. Things just don't look that bleak unless you try to look for the worst-case scenario in everything, and that doesn't interest me.
@@MrEsphoenix I think it's not so much the actual "facts" of the ending- the job you get, whether you'll literally get murdered, etc. It's possible if not probable that V will live out a pretty average if relatively mediocre life, though granted that's not always great in the CP setting. It's the themes of losing everything that made you, you- giving up on every dream and aspiration and becoming another face in the crowd, another cog in the machine. That's the lesson that the ending tries to show us. And somehow, to me, that seems profoundly sad, given how much you have to give up to reach it.
I did every side quest and my progress with Johnny is 85% but I didn't get this convo somehow. We ended up arguing a bit and then forgive each other in this scene.
Did you choose the right Dialogues at the Junkyard with Johnny?? I know there's a dialogue where V says to Johnny " The man who saved my life" I know that's one of the important choices.
I got the same too despite having access to the Rogue / (dont) fear the reaper endings on the same character. Also takemura appeared in the end credits scene even tho he is dead. Must be super bugged

I kinda like how different male and female sounds: vincent Sounds tired and robotic, exactly how you think a person who seen hell and back and got nothing left to loose. Valerie sounds like someone trying their best not to cry, like their holding back tears and not wanting to let it out.

Female Vs voice when she says “I promise” fuckin breaks my heart. As someone who was crying during this, hearing the main character start crying too hit DIFFERENT
Also if you go with Songbird at first, fight through all the trials and tribulations with her, but then betray her in the absolute last moment after she reveals everything to you and places herself at your mercy and in her trust, she is so badly damaged that as you betray her she can only meekly mumble "P.. promi...." Fuuuuck, V.....
Stop voice comparing by one scene. Female v hits different cuz she does her usual overacting mess. Looks like Bro v understood the gig and fainted before saying goodbyes, fits the world more tbh. And didn't steal Johnny's scene with that, as it should be.

I played through as female V because her voice actress is Cherami Leigh. But all this time, I didn't know that male V's name was Vincent. My name is Vincent and that would've just rediagnosed my depression!! 😭😭
Well she is a Merc, if she used her real name and a Netrunner had a grudge, they could find out about their family Using V as an alias would make it a hell of a lot harder to track down since V wouldn't be in any legal records so if a Netrunner was looking to get revenge, they wouldn't know where to start since V could have meant anything, not just a shortened version of their real name which makes it basically impossible to track
Temperance is the Canon Ending for me! It’s bittersweet with none of my friends dying along the way. And have a chance to let Johnny have a 2nd chance 😢

@@zrusit9640not like he didn’t already have one, the real V died when Dexter shot him in the head the game would have ended before V gets to live through every thing in the main game if there was no biochip. V after prologue is just an engram. In the end V became a NC legend which is his wish so why not give Johnny a second chance, to live for V
I have a 90% friendship with Johnny and got this scene, except they argued and he seemed to hate my guts. Apparently, if you dont choose "the guy who saved my life" option at the oil field, even if hes super friendly to you till the end, he'll despise you in this ending
If you replay that part again pick: The Guy who saved my life Then he'll say that he hasnt fucked what they have then choose: Nah u fucked that up too! He will ask for a second chance then pick what do you want from me
Maybe the arguing isn’t due to the oilfield/rogue/kerry thing, but the dialogue options you choose after deciding to call reed? For me, I chose ones where I wasn’t rude to Johnny, but made up my mind about the cure. Idk, it could be a bug, or it could be the dialogue you chose before entering the plane
How did you guys get Johnny to talk to you like this? For me it was just “can we forgive each other” or something like that and that was it. I had a great relationship with him too.
I didn't even get this line of dialogue in my playthrough. I got the "do you think we can forgive each other" or something like that. It was also a touching moment but nowhere near the level of this.
Really mad that my "BUDDY" Johnny for whom I did everything I could ... did not give me this talk. No the gonk just straight up argued with me while I wanted this dialogue to happen.

@@jace9986 I agree tbh. I feel the ending that was meant to be seen was the one with the core, it seemed to have the most effort put into it development wise. You see all these crazy fragmented memories of Songbird. You see just how horrifying the Blackwall can be. Reed hates your guts, as does the President. Even though it's what most would consider the "bad" ending, to me, it was the one with the most obvious effort put into it. Taking Songbird to the moon (which feels better emotionally and is what I would assume to be the "good" ending) is pretty straightforward. Sneak through the airport, blackwall is there but not as intense, and of course taking out Reed. However, after that... it's simply over. Nothing much else to it. I feel it's almost as if the developers WANT you to betray Songbird seeing as how intense and cinematic the entire experience is by comparison. Also knowing the developers have an absolute hard on for dark tragedy, it felt like that is the one they personally consider canon.
@@MichRoyal Ngl, if she didn't try to manipluate and lie to me, I'd have tried to save her. But she tried pulling that nonsense on me. So just for that I reverted my save back to the choice and just sided with Reed and didn't honor her last wish just to be petty. I know the devs wanted me to feel bad for her since she's cornered and desperate. But, I just did not care since she tried messing with me. At least Reed and the President honor their deal with me even though Reed is too intrenched into his ideals to care about good or evil, and Myers is just as scummy as the Arasaka.

The percentage seems a bit bugged, so the thing to go by the is the Oil Fields choices. For instance, before I even STARTED Phantom Liberty I was at 85% for some reason, which caused the menu heading to read out about how "there was no way you'd ever give her up, you've been flipping off corps your entire life" which kinda spoiled it for me...
Actually there is are endings where Johnny still lives.. and you just keep being you.. It's the one where So Mi lives, or you turn her in but never call Reed to pick you up for this flight.
I didnt even wanna do this. I just wanted to see what would happen. But on the rooptop as soon as johnny said "what if you just called him and told him to shove his offer where the sun dont shine" i was like This is the worst option. I dont want this. I feel awful even though i obviously went back and made the RIGHT choice.
@@MrEsphoenix true. I thought about it for a long time after my original comment. Especially taking Mistys advice into mind. (Misty by the way is just a fucking gem as a character) And she mentioned how V now has to worry about a stray bullet like the rest of us. Also how the entire plot of the main story is "quiet life or blaze of glory". But the plot is also based on how V is doing just that, and doesnt want to. I think it really was a good ending now. V lost everything they had, but that freed them from the shackles of being a "Night City Legend". She lost basically everyone, but thats not a bad thing because the people she lost were constantly agents of chaos and throwing incredibly dangerous missions at her. Other than Judy, everyone she lost was not really a good person to have around. As a video game character who can kill thousands of people in 2 weeks, sure losing all that sucks. But thinking about it from the perspective of a real human being, she got a completely clean break from all the BS she was into. I now think this ending was good. I had the moment where Johnny tells V "can we forgive each other" and we both said yes. Judy got married and moved on. Viktor has a real job with consistent income. Misty is traveling the world. Originally i hated losing my superpowers and weapons of mass destruction. But now i see that V was really given a gift.
@@Tulip_bip yeah man. Johnny has this super tough guy attitude the whole game. Its annoying most of the time. He thinks he knows all the secrets of the world just like your typical 16 year old who just learned how bad Nestle is. But that line was just...different. For the second time (first time being when Bridgette mentions Alt) in the whole game: that tough guy ultimate rebel facade just dissapears. He sounds genuinely scared. And its obviously just a video game, but my heart actually fucking sank when i heard it. But as i said before, its still a "good" ending when you really think about it.
The first time I tried this cure option I couldn't go through it. I felt disgusted by killing Johnny. And now that I've actually completed I was 100% right. This ending is brutally sad.
Strange, I never got this ending despite completing Phantom Liberty. but then again I did the DLC ending before storming Arasaka Tower... wonder if that has something to do with it.

I have nothing against the voice actor for Vincent but Valeries VA just . . has so much more heart crushing emotion in her delivery here, especially "I don't know what, but i promise. ." It's something i noticed a lot watching male V moments, his voice acting is fine and good but he doesn't ever really hit those emotional high points for me, his deliveries always seem way colder with less emotion
If anything I feel like female V is overacted, Male V sounds like what people REALLY sound like. Keep in mind in this scene he’s supposed to be passing out.
Affinity with Johnny. In order to get this you need to complete his entire storyline on good terms. Pretty much to be at the point where you can choose between this and Ripper endings.
This is a great ending based on acting and story but this just proves that dont fear the reaper should be the canon ending. This shows Johnny actually cared about V more than V just being a tool to get revenge from smasher. So now when u fight smasher with Johnny its clear that he is there to help u lead to ur glory and not his revenge.
I didn’t get this dialog. In mine Johnny was upset V was making this decision, and V calls him a narcissist. They still end on good terms but it’s not this personal.
Everyone les just moved on despite V being at their beck and call and solving their problems for them. Except for panam, I think she might be dead or something, bc that call from Mitch was sketchy. Remember on the radio at the end of the Tower ending and it mentioned something about Yorinobu using some nomads to get away from Arasaka? And then Saul was talking about joining up with corps to protect the clan. My theory is that maybe a clan war happened to where militech and Arasaka got involved and wiped out nomads. Maybe panam had to flee bc we know she and others would rather die than join ou with corps, or maybe she was one of the casualties and Mitch felt bad hearing the voicemail V left and decided not to tell her the fate of Panam(bcV would’ve felt responsible for her death, not being there to prevent it).
After all this years i was right, ive been thinking about the real name for v lately and yet i found that the name such as vincent was a good name for him. And somehow my guess was right😂
