Funny, that the game was based on the TV special of the same name, and the special is better than the game because it follows the beginning part of the plot and it at least was tolerable.

Of course, Diego could go to the past and prevent things, like say, the World Wars. But no. He has to go help Maia the Maiasaura so she won't be sad. Which is much more important, obviously.
Well, think of the consequences of preventing WW2. Disney and Warner Bros were going through tough times, and the government commissioned them to make propaganda cartoons, if it weren’t for WW2, Disney and Warner Brothers might have went under 50 years ago.
@@wumpus976 I'm pretty sure that preventing several deaths of Jewish people, the rise of fascism, the straight-up economical bankrupcy of the UK and other shit that went down in WW2, pretty much weighs out against having two animation companies potentially get too big for their britches, to the point of one of them becoming the blob of corporate entities, and the entire public domain to get screwed over, because of it.
I can see a lot of hijinks occurring with those time travel powers. "Man, it sucks what happened with Weimar Germany after the World War. I'll go back in time and try to fix it." (One time travel adventure later) "Okay, time to see what my history book says occurred after the World War in Weimar Germany." (A brief textbook skim later; Nazi Germany was created in the past) "...I fucked up."

The game that defined a generation. Real talk though, this kid can time travel, talk to animals, he’s practically invincible, and his jumps give Mario a run for his money. Is Diego, like, God?
In fact, he is, I replayed this game a few months ago for my own review and it crashed during the final level, he's so powerful that my PS2 couldn't handle it (yes it's available for PS2 and it's actually normal on that system), and not long later, a solar eclipse that was actually dangerous was coming causing all the brontosauruses to go to one area to stop it (of which they did), so Diego is indeed a DemiGod, as is his cousin Dora, Dora however, doesn't have the wisdom that Diego has, instead treating everyone like they have the mental intelligence of a literal newborn Diego has many powers, mainly his fluency in Spanish that is shared by every animal in his vicinity, his infinite knowledge, and power to make the audio of the show lag behind in comparison to the video, something he's only done in rare versions of the anaconda and sloth episodes (that happened to recorded disks of mine when I was younger, perhaps an uncommon anti piracy effect, nah, it's Diego's infinite power), what other powers may he possess, only time will tell, there are other Go Diego Go games, episodes, and TV specials to get this information from
When Diego time traveled to the time of the dinosaurs, I thought of the simpsons treehouse of horror episode where when homer hurt something in the past it changed the present.

Keegan Stormblade canonically the Shadow vs Silver emerald clash caused rifts in the planet. How did he know it would lead to the dinosaur era? Well... It works the same as the rift they opened in Soleanna where it happened to lead to where they needed to go.
If this game is educational, then they got SO MANY THINGS wrong!!! 1. They show multiple dinosaurs that SHOULDN’T be living alongside Maiasaura and Troodon (Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus appeared about 6 million years AFTER Maiasaura died out) (and that’s just one example). 2. The area is to jungle-like. The area Maiasaura lived in was more akin to Montana then Brazil. So conifer forests and fern plains are the way to go. 4. Maiasaura just has some weird forelimbs in this game. And no head crest either. 5. With Troodon, there’s one big flaw that everyone is going to groan hearing me mention......... It’s Featherless. Documentaries made years earlier show this dinosaur with feathers. So what excuse does this have? This dinosaur belonged to a group that was closely related to birds. It would only make sense that Troodon would have them too. Now does it have to be 100% accurate? Of course not! It WAS made for little kids. But if you’re going to educate kids on dinosaurs, you should at least be somewhat accurate!
A little update years later. Some things have changed since this comment was made, so I’ll make some corrections. As well as give my pitch for how this game could’ve worked. For one, Troodon is no longer a valid genus, due to extensive research finding the genus to be overlumped and poorly described. The genus that lived alongside Maiasaura was likely Stenonychosaurus. Now I’ll give my alternate pitch. You can keep the main plot of a list Maiasaura looking to reunite with her herd, however, change the main antagonist from a pack of Stenonychosaurus (animals that would likely never attempt to even challenge Maiasaura of any age outside of infancy), to Daspletosaurus, a likely predator of Maiasaura, and a relative of Tyrannosaurus. From here, base the dinosaurs off of the ones you’d see in the Upper Two Medicine formation, like Scolosaurus, Eniosaurus, Bambiraptor, Orodromeus, etc.. don’t me afraid to show Fish, Lizards, Turtles, Azdrachid Pterosaurs, Small Mammals and Birds, and Crocodiles as well. You can base these animal designs off of the Artwork of Paleoartists. Some, like Jutyrannus on Instagram, have art styles very similar to the one used in Go Diego Go! Hell, maybe just commission him to make the designs. They’ll be accurate, but still stylized! Next up, Make sure the animals act an behave like just that, animals. Don’t show them understanding school and science and whatnot, and make it so that they face issues that modern animals would have (like getting hurt, or struggling to find food, or even getting lost.) And finally, show the environment to be an inland, volcanic area. Have conifer forests, and fern plains dominate the ecosystem. And even have the characters mentioning the coolness of the area (it wasn’t tropical). With all of this in mind, the game could go from average all around. To an educational experience the kids would love!
oh man, I remember playing that Blues Clues game with my brothers back in the day. I liked the fact that Steve would read of the stuff you wrote, and either be impressed (or laugh hysterically) and even end like the show as well.

The only rare game that should get any attention besides DKC is Bad Fur Day. If Johnny actually attempted a Rare Marathon, we'd be here for a whole fucking year. They made a lot of games!
Fun fact about this game which actually adds to the lack of effort, Johnny: My sister used to own "Dora Saves The Crystal Kingdom" for the PS2 and I can tell from your footage that the gameplay from this game was directly ripped from that. Not surprising considering how these types of games usually tend to cut corners, but I thought it was interesting to note. The laziness truly never ends

I have a feeling that donators mainly donated bad shovelware games just to see your reaction Johnny. If this is the case then this marathon will get old quickly. I have the feeling Johnny tries to get the shovel ware out of the way first before he gets to the actual games. Look at the last marathon, he did Cory in the House and Mary Kate & Ashley's Sweet 16 License to Drive to get the weird entries out of the way 1st and to fuck with everyone as well. He also didn't get to every donated game last time, so who knows, some men just want to watch johnny lose his mind.....multiple times
Ay yai yai 4:42 Wow I actually remember how close Nickelodeon worked with a game company to make a licensed game feel like you were part of the show...AND was fun to play. Still smile whenever I revisit those games.
It still made just as little sense. Not for how it worked this time, but because of the strange reasoning Diego used as an excuse to TRAVEL BACK IN TIME, POSSIBLY JEOPARDIZING THE SPACE-TIME CONTINUUM.

Speaking of High Voltage, you should have a look at The Conduit and Conduit 2 someday. They really poured their hearts into making a serious hardcore Wii game. Neither one is great, but they are good enough and interesting enough to be worth a look.
