Had the honor of meeting him on his bus before a show in 2007. I told him I had been listening to his music for 35 years and I was so happy to finally get to hear him play live. He thanked me for coming to the show and a broad smile came over his face as he looked up from under his cowboy hat. He then said, laughing, "what took you so long?". I nearly tipped over. Such a good man and kind soul who loved his blues and tearing up his guitar. Thank you Johnny. RIP my friend.
You are so lucky to have met Johnny Winter,Johnny Winter got me into guitar playing. My first concert I saw was Johnny Winter, it was 1976 I was 16 years,Johnny Edgar,Rick Derringer where like a musical family to me,I thank them all. I did have the privilege of meeting Jon Paris his Bass player who was performing in Manhattan, he is also a great guitar player, all we spoke about was Johnny Winter. Thank you.
Nice experience! I saw him play along with Leslie West around 2014 at the Mayo theater in Morristown New Jersey. The first time was at the Capitol theater Passaic New Jersey 78 there was so much happening in music at that time and there was a lot of places to see bands play.R.I.P. JOHNNY 🎸🎸😇 🎃👻🕷️🤡👹
..I am,. albino..... too and I love Johnny Winter .....with all of my heart....I know ...the Ridicule folks like Us.... suffer.,,..yet ,....we are very Intelligent.... as I myself... Was born Musically Inclined..!...
When I interviewed Johnny ,I asked him what he thought his best song was. He though a bit and said he wasn't sure. As I was leaving a bit later, he yelled " Don , Stranger " . I looked at him puzzled , he smiled," my best song" .
Same here man! Listened this for hours straight. Jeesus. His name might as well have been Jeesus Winter. This is nice group too, but this song makes me wish that Derringer didn't left, as just a trio can sound a bit dry occasionally, but my god he can conjure pretty sweet things out of his guitar and his touching natural musicality can make even a man cry a couple of tears. Also it makes me sad how underrated Johnny is as a singer.
Better recording than studio recordings. Thx. I couldn't listen cymbals well in studio recording because of strong flanger in rural studio. This is the best recording .Thx again.
TheGuitarjerry1126 ive realized that after playing jimis music for years and then playing johnny..i said wth they are so similar......if you can play johnny you can play jimi vise versa both are not easy to play ;p i still cant play their tunes properly well to a standard im happy with........ its tough
