My view is that Klang Valley, Johor and Penang are going to play different economic roles/focus in coming years. Klang Valley will become the national and even regional (Particularly ASEAN, Asian) hub for many key industries, businesses as it has been. Penang will focus on smart manufacturing and the hardware/semiconductor hub for Malaysia and also regionally. Johor, unfortunately, my view they will continue to play the "supporting role" to SG at best, which may not necessarily be a bad thing as long as they position it right. Hence, to me, I think Johor's trump card besides connectivity, is also making Johor/JB a great place to live so much so that it will attract people in SG and Johoreans to stay/work in Johor. The industries/sectors that Johor could focus on are the sectors of which SG is no longer cost competitive, lack of land and/or lack of the talent/labor. Whilst I agree with Chin Tong on many things, I don't agree that Malaysia and Singapore has one workforce, maybe between Johor and Singapore, yes. Besides that, we're very independent and separate.

Iskandar corridor does boost up the property price, and we as younger consumers got to pay more and more to buy a house in JB. Previously, government initiated the BRT project which is targeted to be launched in 2023/2024, no more news about this anymore, don't even talk about LRT which is less feasible in Johor due to the population. Hope to see more development of infrastructure in Johor, especially the Iskandar region. Also, hope to see more bus connectivity from Singapore to CIQ (Gelang Patah), currently there are no any SG buses serving this CIQ.

If Johore can balance and attract both prcs down china and singaporeans up from Singapore johore will be in for a very good boom for many many years to come. The question is whether johore people and malaysians living in ofher states realise and cherish it thats all. In this world people are known to be stubborn or muddled head. They will always be low iq or proud people who will actively sabotage their own country progress or think they can do grand things by themselves without extending out goodwill and invitation to others and then years passes and these people can't tdo anything at all and only end up dragging and stalling the rest down with them instead. Malaysia got many hardworking and friendly people but there are also alot of old sticks in the mud and xenophobic people as well.

People are always scare of losing some land and power in their country whenever the country try to open up to grab some hot cash or opportunities in life. People keep fearing they will end up working for other rich people or have less rights and lands but they need to remember if your country already have no prospects in it already you still will end up doing lowly jobs or going overseas to survive instead. So rather than let these happen to you why not just try to push and made one area of your country to become a thriving economic zone. The rich and foreign people will come down and more businesses and jobs will be created in the process and you can work and save up some money and you still have other states you can shift to once you have made enough to finally settle down in comfort in life. This is how positive thinking should be. When the country is finally strong and rich enough the country can then cut away and send off some foreign investors away and the citizens will end up better in the long term future. So don't be so short sighted in life. Think and look further ahead.

Ferry is an old idea , I was told there will be ferry service from puteri harbour to harbour front and I waited 9 years already, hahahahah this is what I mean. By the way the ferry terminal is for Malaysian and Indonesian only not for foreigner without long visa.

The service between Puteri Harbour and Harbour Front started in 2013. However, due to speed limit impose at Singapore sea, the journey took 1.5 hours. As a result, demand was low and it was scrapped.

Not true. Johor Bahru does not represent the entire state. Johor state population is 4 million, 1.2 million in JB and only 500k people work in Singapore. Even within that 500k a lot of people are from other states like Penang, Kedah, Perak, and even Kelantan and terengganu. The rest of us live and Work in Johor. Many of us are business owners and in northern johor most people have lands, Durian and rambutan plantations mostly, not to mention the palm oil plantations. Southern Johor itself is a manufacturing hub and a major shipping hub. Lots of opportunities here.

@@schadenfreude6274 Brother have you visited Johor Bahru or other parts of Johor before? You should learn the meaning of that word before saying it. I would say JB is an extended suburb of singapore arguably but slum is taking it a bit too far. If you want to talk about slums you should look at the government flats in KL/Selangor.

Malaysian talking rather relaxed … la la la. BTW this is not the point. More crucially most of them can’t think in the global context and not being business minded too. Singaporean government or people will have no reason to share their economic prosperity with Malaysia. It’s not as simple between HK and Shenzhen those days simply because they are one country. Efforts from Malaysia end should look into logical reasoning how Singaporean would work with Malaysia and the fundamental equation is always 1+1 > 2. And Malaysia must have the sensitivity of not overlapping its economic function with Singapore and therefore not to replace Singapore in the future. Feasible collaborative proposals must come from MY in order to convince SG. And not the other way round. In short do your homework and sell your idea to them!
