Makes sense, really. Completing the bundles takes a lot of time and forces you to explore and try out all the aspects of the game. On the other hand, it's fairly easy to drum up lots of cash quickly. Taking the quick easy way gives you a far less satisfying reward.

I think the dev's reasoning behind creating this method of doing things was to show you how much more engaging and fun it is to work hard on rebuilding a community centre and knowing you're benefitting the villagers by rebuilding the place, a sorta challenging but feel-good method (plus the junimos are adorable!) the joja way is basically like showing the corporate side to things, and reminding you of why your character left the company in the first place: you pay in tons of money and are left feeling unsatisfied and given a useless reward in return. I'm gonna create a second character and create an evil route just for the achievement tho

I wanted to see things turn really dark if you joined them. First, they destroy the community center for their warehouse. Their warehouse increases productivity enough where prices can be substantially lowered. Pierre can't keep up, and the townsfolk flock to Joja for their everyday goods. Next season, you wake up to find out Pierre can no longer keep a roof over his head, and he begs you for donations, as this was his way of life. If you refuse, Pierre, Caroline and Abagail will now be living next to Linus in a large tent near the top of the town. They don't hate you, but they're much more solemn and quiet now, not really looking forward to anything more in the future, knowing their best days are probably behind them. Then, as a final nail in the coffin.... Morris buys out Pierre's old place, revitalizes and enlarges it a bit, and it becomes Morris' abode. On the "plus" side, Morris is now a friendable character, and you have 4 friendship points with him by default at this point.

Well, he's not wrong-- Pelican Town's infrastructure is a pile of hot garbage. I'm pretty sure if you weren't there to fix everything for everyone with your own blood, sweat, and gold, Mayor Lewis would have the place looking like Centralia within the decade. Y'all can afford to have all these festivals, but not one bake sale to save the community center? Sure, blame the kids and their TV boxes, old man, I see how it is. No wonder Joja was able to take over so easily-- and at least they've got the bus running... at all. Vote Farmer 2016.

Thanks for slaking my curiosity - now I won't have to do it myself! Huh. I've never thanked anyone for spoilers before. Weird...

I feel that people give Joja Corp a bad rap. Something you need to realize about the residents of Pelican town is that they suck!! Why are there broken bridges? Why is the community center run down? Why is the Mayor so suspicious? They have carpenters, blacksmiths, access to the outside world; yet for some reason they're unable to repair a single bridge or upkeep one single building? And what do they do instead? They make one single person, an outsider, do ALL of the work. And even you don't really 'do' it. You leave it to some Junimos to do the actual dirty work... Joja Corp provide a service to help repair communities. Naturally it costs money and as stated; Pelican Town is more of a trial run to see how things go and whether they should bother helping out other villages. The community center was unused and abandoned up until the player arrived, and Joja corp were already there and had plans on refurbishing the center before you arrived too. The test was successful, and Joja corp were able to repair the village. Something the lazy villagers may have never done, and didn't do even when you decide not to go down the Joja path. And what's more, none of the villages decided to help with funding either. It was left entirely up to you. As for the cola machine; yeah it's not much for spending all that hard earned money. But bear in mind that each cola can sell for 20g. That's 20g extra per day you wouldn't normally be able to make. That adds up over time. And what does the trophy do? Nothing. It gives you nothing. And the reward bundles? They're not worth much. The only decent thing is the Crystalarium, and you STILL had to pay 25,000g for that. In fact, the bundles costed you 42500g; around 1/3 of the money you'd cash out to Joja Corp for the monetary ones alone. The rest of the bundle rewards are garbage, and thinks you could easily obtain for free if you work for it, and often cost you more time than the rewards are worth. Time is money! Overall; whether Joja is a big money grabbing capitalist empire or not, that doesn't take away from the fact that regardless of if you side with the village or Joja, the villages suck. If anyone, you should dislike the villagers for doing all the work and causing Joja Corp to notice their laziness and have to intervene. They don't even reward you for the bundles, the Junimos do.

The soda sells for 1g and everybody HATES it as a gift except Sam who sorta likes it ironically. Best item in the game hands down.

honestly, this is the good ending imo. pierre and lewis are sucking pelican town dry, giving nothing in return. if it wasn't for LITERAL MAGIC the town would have fun itself into the ground. Joja not only improved the town through hard work, but their success here opens the door for them to improve other communities. go joja!

The actual bundles aren't that hard as long as you start as soon as possible, know what to look out for, and don't throw those things away. Honestly the most difficult part for me was the fishing but even though I suck at fishing I was able to complete the fish tank first (with a little help from the merchant cart to buy out of season fish). It's definitely a lot more fun to collect stuff rather than pay for everything.

My fist playthrough of Stardew Valley I was all about the money... so i went the joja route. I have no regrets.

Really, one route is you sellout, destroy the community gathering place (for all ages, the pub doesn't count), and pay a megacorp to hire a bunch of trained, skilled professionals to go do all the mining, monster-fighting, and other shit to improve the local communities' condition. The other route, you tell the megacorp guy to fuck off by having Pierre punch him through a fucking ceiling, then you get the spend much of the game listening to alien-looking spirits and appeasing them to repair the community center by travelling the local countryside gathering random shit and risking your life delving into the mines and fighting monsters. So one route, is cynical and soulless, and the other is dangerous and bat-shit insane, so take your pick.

I've done this a couple of times. And it takes the fun out of the community center

Joining Joja: measly 25g a day Rebuilding the Community Centre: Free machines that help out on your farm, notably a free Crystalarium. Rebuilding the Community Centre and having Pierre launch Morris into space: Priceless

this is way easier than doing community bundles... I have earned more than 500.000 by the first winter so could buy all those projects if I had gone for that. But I prefer the bundles, is more engaging.

Doing this gets you out of fishing though, almost worth it IMO

I realize that by joining Joja you are essentially selling out to "the man", if you will. I personally think that everyone should play the game however they want. If you want to make the game more money based, then join Joja. If you want to make your game about farming and scavenging, then go ahead and finish the community center. I'll openly admit I joined Joja, only because I wanted my game to progress further (getting the bus running, etc). I was in to my THIRD year before I gave up on collecting stuff for the rewards in the community center. Like most people, I absolutely HATE fishing in Stardew Valley. They make it needlessly frustrating. After a while I made it a point to go back into my "finished" game and MAKE myself learn to fish. I'm on year 7 and I still haven't collected even half of the fish that was required for the reward. I also realize that I could have purchased many of the fish from the traveling merchant during my original play through. Isn't that also considered "bad" to use *gasp* MONEY to progress further? lol.

the joja reward is simply not having to egg hunt to unlock things, and merely pay a cash lump sum. The rewards are much less for a good reason, do you want convenience or reward? this is the players choice in play style.

i did a weird thing where i bought the membership the same day i finished the last bundle so when i got the community center cut scene everyone was glitched into the storage shelves which shouldnt have been there

Why would anyone support Joja. You escaped the city life (AND JOJA) to live a peaceful life. Supporting Joja makes no sense to me.

I say the benefit of joining outweigh the cons, you get the bus running, bridges repaired, and you just have to pay cash or your taxes to get everything running smoothly.

When i first started the game, after receiving a quest of gifting someone, i randomly gave a joja cola i just picked up to Sam-the person nearest to me. Somehow I managed to choose the only person in this town who likes joja cola

first time player, actually wanna this in the first round, those bundle kinda intimidate me, because I dont know how anything works, money, on the other hand, is a bit easier to take care off because it's just the money no special items.

There's no time limit on the bundles is there? I'm nearing the end of year two, and I heard something about the progress being checked or something at the start of year three, but no matter where I looked there was no clear answer as the what actually happens. I don't want Joja to win, but I'm missing a bunch of stuff for the bundles :/

I really don't understand why everyone hates the Joja route. Sure, doing the bundles feels more rewarding, but the process of acquiring all those items is a 'little' frustrating.The town gets fixed either way. I don't care about Lewis' nostalgic feelings towards the old building, the town needs fixing, and Lewis does not seem up to the task. I don't care about Joja getting a promotion either."But what about poooor Pierre?". Yeah, poor guy, let's help the town by making them buy expensive stuff from Pierre rather using cheaper products for Joja (the villagers point out that buying products from Joja is cheaper). And really, if Pierre can't compete with a different shop - that's his problem. Support the underdog, just because he's the underdog? If you want to help their family out so badly, just marry Abigail. And really, the community center route causes Shane to lose his job (and probably other unnamed employees), while the Joja route just makes it harder for Pierre to run his business. I mean, it's business, after all, be ready for competition.Still, fuck the soda machine.

You can get the whole thing completed before the end of summer if you have enough blueberries and preserves jars, whereas it is going to be minimum winter of first year (assuming you get really lucky and find a Red Cabbage for sale with the cart vendor) before you have a chance of completing the community center. This will guarantee you an early greenhouse and bus so you can start doing Starfruit while your ancient fruit collection starts growing.
