Yea this video helps currently I'm a freshman 2016 I graduate in 2020 and want to join when I'm a junior so I'll save this video forever . Please don't delete it haha 🙏
also i have some questions i have independent studies, so i only go to school once a week to turn in my work, so i don't know if that helps with training or is it a lot of work.
If you turn you work into a physical school and coincide with their school year then you would be no different than someone in that school enlist, when it comes to when you will be able to do training
I scored a 41 on my asvab pretest. my recruiter told me some people score 25 points higher on the actual test. I’m 20 almost 21, nothing going on in my life right now besides work so this could be a great change
Point Man I got 2 questions. 1. Can I join the army national guard if my eyesight are very bad but I wear glasses? 2. My BDay is May 14 and when I turn 17 that day, can I sign up in the summer to join the army and (if it's possible) to graduate from the army before school starts?
I'd suggest joining while still in highschool to anyone who wants to be in the guard. In the guard your time starts as soon as you swear in at MEPS so you'll have much more time in by time you complete AIT and will probably be pretty close to reaching E-4
I'm 17 and i dropped out a while ago because of family issues that i needed to help with, but I'm hoping i can still join if I'm currently trying to get my GED
awesome video this really helped, im going to be a junior in high school this school year, going back and I already stetted a appointment with a recruiter this july.
I've been thinking about the National Guard or Air Force I'm currently a Sophomore in high school. I really like this split option I seen it on a website but watching this video makes more sense as to how the spilt option works.
I mentioned joining the military after high school to my mom, not being serious really but just letting her know it had been something that crossed my mind. She set me up with a recruiter with the national guard almost immediately after, and now I’ve signed a lot of paperwork. I go take the asvab test in 10 days and I’m already nervous and overthinking everything, wondering if I’m making the right decision since I just turned 17 and I’m still a junior. I’ve never really done much just show up to school and go home then repeat each day, so I feel like this will be a great thing for me. Hopefully all goes well and I end up making the right decisions.
Well, if you join while in high school, you’re going to start off at the Recruit Sustainment Program where they’re going to slowly teach you what it’s like to be a soldier and prep you for Basic Training. It’ll only be one weekend a month so it’s not taking up too much of your free time but you’ll be getting a decent paycheck for your time. You might even think it’s fun and you’ll definitely meet some cool people. It’s okay to overthink about the “what ifs”, everybody does that, so don’t make yourself feel bad about that. It’s something brand new to you so you’re kind of fearing the unknown at the moment, again, that is common. You’re right though, this could really do a lot for you. It did a lot for me when I was really young, and once I created a family it did and still does a lot for them. Definitely subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already. I’ll help answer any questions you have a long the way. Below I’m going to post a video about the RSP I made and a video about MEPS. I highly recommend you watch those videos and other videos on my channel, they’ll help you a lot. @@kekqzy How are things going for you now? I'm turning 17 in a week or so and am in my junior year so im considering enlisting. What are the physical requirements like? I'm very good at calisthenics, I can do 20 strict pullups, 60 straight pushups with good form, and bench 180 (my body weight is ~155). Would you say the experience is worth it and is the time commitment significant?
You are going to be very close to missing the cut off time for when you need to be 17 to make it to basic training. Follow up with me in a couple months.
It’s possible my birthday is may 4, I was able to split opt, I left for basic in June, about a week after school let out. I returned to school one week late. It was good timing.
Old video, I just saw it. I turned 17 on February. My only problem is the height and weight. I play Varsity football as a lineman and try everything to help things together and make everyone work as a team. I'm strong and have some running endurance, I ran a 7:36 mile, 56 push ups in a minute and 52 situps. But the weight and height as I said before. I'm 5'7 and 225lbs, I thinking weight standards is 170ish for my height 😂. When I used the body fat thing at our school that uses electricity when you hold it, it says I'm 28%. But I also know that there isn't a real, accurate way to measure BF and the army does it different. Soooooo yeah
I'm currently a junior, and really want to join. But I'm about 70 pounds over weight and there's no healthy way to loose the weight before this coming summer. So I'm just exercising every day with my recruiter and hopefully I loose the weight for my senior year.
Hey, This helps a lot. Love your vedios. I am meeting up with my recruiter next week. Super nervous I am currently a junior in high school and will be trying to get in to the National Guard
My best advice is to just wait I was a split opt. And I regret it because I had to go back to high school which I hated so much because everyone there was just a bunch of disrespectful little shits who thought they were better and I had to go back to AIT and I did very little pt at home so I was a little weaker so if you join just wait till after high school you will be stronger by doing all the training at once and you'll go straight to your work unit... Great video btw very informative
Deadass Combat Timbs I can definitely understand where you are coming from. Going back to school after BCT really opens your eyes to the immaturity of your peers there. It can definitely be a difficult adjustment.
That is very true, I know a couple of split of guys back in my school who didn't do PT after BCT, they got kicked out because they gained 10 minutes to their two mile run time.
Benneen he means everyone is disciplined and mature after basic because you went from civialin to soldier and have to transition back to civ and then your thrown back with high school kids who have no respect for anything
To all the kids who want to get in right away and shit... if you wanna do this but love the Army, don't. Most of my friends have done this and regret their decision entirely. Most of them ended up liking the Army life and wanted to switch to active, but good luck. If you really love the Army and want to make the most of it, just wait and go active. I'm not beating on this process, I think it's great, but for you diehard kids who want to be in so bad and want to live the Army life, just do active. Mad respect to the kids who go in junior year though, never forgot one of their faces in my highschool.
It really equals out the same on both ends. We do get some people who come back and loved the full time experience so much that they want to go Active. But, then we get a lot of people who go Active who aren't happy with the life and they're stuck. At least if you join the Guard and don't like it, you're not stuck doing it full time. And I agree, huge respect to those who join as Juniors!
I want to join the national guard I’m a junior and I turn 17 next Friday it’s been my dream to be in the military so that I can help my single mother and the rest of my family
This video was extremely helpful. Just a quick question: If I graduate high school, will I have to delay me getting into college for AIT, or will I be able to attend AIT and college at the same time?
So, if I am a senior in high school and I enlist, will I have to drill once a month until my BMT date arrives? And I will be given a uniform, military id, etc? I am going to MEPS this upcoming tuesday and want to know what to expect afterwards.
Hi my name is Naudia. I'm currently 16 and came across the split-option enlistment a few days ago after deciding I didn't want to enlist in the navy. I plan on studying for the ASVAB up until my birthday next January to ensure I do well. My two questions are do you recommend doing rotc while enlisted in the National Guard and if I plan on going to college to get the necessary degrees to join JAG corps would I have to pick a temporary job once they present me with the list?
Hello SFC Beitz. I was thinking about joining the Army National Guard during the summer of my junior year (so the summer of 2019), but I wouldn't turn 17 until July 2nd of that year. Is there any way for me to complete basic training inbetween July 2nd and September 2nd (that's usually when school starts). If so, where would I go with no MOS? I do have a friend who is currently in AIT, he graduated as a senior last in June. I know he had a unit, but had no MOS (he was in a field artillery unit based nearby). Would I go to a standard infantry unit? P.S., I really like your videos! They are really informative, and you explain things really well. Thank you.
once you enlist you enlist for the Mos you chose or picked once you found out you qualified for. if you enlist during your junior year and go to basic in the summer before your senior year you are doing what is known as split ops. Split ops is when you just do basic combat training one summer then you do your advanced individual training for your mos the next summer. Most like likely if you enlist after July 2, you most likely won't be able to ship to BCT until the ( not 100% but a recruiter will verify)summer after your senior due to time constraints. if this is the case then you no longer be split ops. you will now be OSUT which is when you do AIT right after BCT. Until you complete AIT and get you battle hand off to your unit, you are assigned to an RSP unit which readies you for Basic training. RSP units are not deploy-able training units (basically not a real unit). If your friend has not gotten his battle hand off then he is still in rsp not and a 13b unit. one last thing don't ever let the recruiter sway you towards a certain MOS and signing bonuses are pretty much fucking lies.
That is actually very common. I enlisted a dude (now a good friend) like 7 years ago and he was so scared of needles...I got a call from MEPS when he was doing his physical and they said he passed out when he got his blood drawn. He still enlisted that day though and he's doing insanely well in the Guard. If you can't beat the fear, do it scared.
I have a question sergeant, how is the deployments in national guard while you're attending college full time? I am worried I will be deployed while I'm in the process of college.
My son is looking into going into the Guard. He is a junior, very bright kid. Just took the ASVAB, scored a 95. However, the list they gave him after his test had only 1/4 of the original jobs he was told he could get. He was hoping for 35F (intelligence analyst) or 17C Cyber Operation Specialist. The recruiter said it's because he'd be doing the split training option, and only certain jobs are available. Do you know if they will make an exception in some cases? I really don't want him committed to a job for 3 or 4 years that he hates. The recruiter said he would ask his superior. My son has watched several of your videos. Thank you!
Wow, a 95 on the ASVAB is impressive! I am trying to think of a simplistic way to explain how everything works with the split option; basically, there are limitations on jobs because he has a certain amount of time that he must have Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) complete...being a split option, the recruits time is already stretched because of school. I'm not sure the Guard can make an exception because training dates for 35F/17C and every other job are already slotted/scheduled. However, with a 95 on the ASVAB, maybe they will make an exception to policy and extend the time in which he must become a qualified soldier (complete BCT and AIT). Worst case scenario, your son could wait until his Senior year before he enlists. That's never recommended by Recruiters because there's always the chance the recruit could get an injury or something that prevents them from enlisting in the future...so a Recruiting will always say to enlist when you are eligible. My advice would be: wait to see if they will make an exception to policy and allow an extension on the length in which he is required to become a qualified soldier. If that is a no go, enlist into one of the available MOS's and then he can change his MOS down the road (I have a video about changing your MOS you guys can check out). If none of the MOS's are of interest to your son, then he could hold out until his Senior year where he will then have no MOS limitations. However, if he is excited to enlist right now, I am sure that will be a disappointment. Hopefully that helps some. If you have any more questions, let me know 😃
I want a career in Radiology Technology. An Associate's Degree is the most common degree, 63% of Rad Tech's only have an associates.. I want a Bachelor's Degree. I was thinking If I got a certification for the National Guard, along with the fact that I would have a Bachelor's Degree, I'd have a great edge over the common 63% and have a higher chance of employment and salary rate. I'm not sure where to start. All I know is that I would love basic training, I play Varsity Football (lineman) and hard work and teamwork is in my soul. I'd appreciate a response, thank you very much.
Sounds like you're thinking ahead, good stuff. You could even do another comparison; someone with an Associates Degree applying for a Rad Tech position verse someone with an Associates Degree with veterans preference and military experience. I bet the vet gets the position. However, I'm not saying that to discourage you from getting your Bachelors Degree. Look at our 68P Radiology Specialist position in the National Guard!
I'm going to be a junior in high school this upcoming year. My original plans were to simply join the military at 18 and go Active Duty, but I just discovered this route recently and have been considering it. Would I be able to do this, then switch to Active Duty once I graduate? If so, how would I do this? Thanks!
You have to get an appointment on the base most near with your recruiter so he can bring you do the process to create your DoD ID mine did that with mom even before she left for basic training. And she was prepared, she got her Uniforms the first week of Basic. Sometimes you get them on the last Drills before you ship out.
have you been convicted with any felonies? If yes- I'm pretty sure its a no, if no- you should be able to enlist with misdemeanors I believe. Just talk to a recruiter and bring it up, talking to a recruiter does not mean you commit to enlisting so don't be afraid to call one up and talk to em.
Point Man Thanks for clearing that up with me. I only want to do TWO YEARS in the National Guard, graduate high school and then join the Coast Guard. So with that said, is there a 2 year contract? Or can i go on IRR after 2 years and leave?
@@imzeek2293 I'm late but if you havent done it there are 6:2 or 8:0 where 6:2 is work 6 years and be on 2 years reserved and 8 years with no chance on reserves
You can be, but, some MOS training is longer than others. Some training would extend into the start of college and others won't. If that's a concern of yours, look into MOS's that have shorter AIT lengths.
I only have one question, I turn 17 next year in March yet to become a 31 bravo you have to be 18, can I still do that, cause the summer between Junior and Senior I will do BCT but when I graduate I’ll be 18 and could head to AIT for MP, is that allowed for no?
Yes, you can still join. Just make sure that you get all the medical documents from when you seen the doctor and any physical therapy documents (if applicable) and provide those to your Recruiter.
So I have some questions, I'm a junior and 16 now and turn 17 in March I should be able to join right? Then go to basic training over summer. And for that basic training where do you go?? Is it out of state? And what if after senior year I want to do regular active army or like go to the marines , is that a possibility?
I am a high school junior and I want to join the air National guard after my senior year. Is the path different in the ANG and how does joining after senior year effect my pathway into service?
I just graduated Friday and waitin on my ged certificate to get here after I get it I'm a join national guard an I was wonderin can I join in one state an then move,to a different state after trannin I'm joinin in west virginia but I as gonna move to Georgia cuz that where my girlfriend live an I'm,gonna propose to her on graduation day
That's awesome! It sounds like you've set some goals and are moving forward on them! Yes, you can absolutely transfer to different states. I transferred from Georgia to Wisconsin, and from Wisconsin to Tennessee. The transfer is called an Interstate Transfer (IST). You just have to get in contact with your state IST coordinator, who will them reach out to the state IST coordinator in the state you're transferring to. Good luck!
I have a question, let's say I join fresh after graduating high school. After basic training & AIT, could I enroll or attend college right away? If I have an associate degree would that make my rank go higher to perhaps e2 or e3? Pls, need a response ASAP!!!
Yes, you can attend college right away. What state are you from? I ask because how you use your benefits differs in each state. As far as enlisting into a higher pay grade; if you meet the below criteria you can enlist as an E2 or E3. The way I read it is, if you have an associates degree you will enlist as an E3 regardless of the number of semester or quarter hours you have.Has successfully completed 24 or more classroom semester hours (36 or more quarter hours) at an accredited degree granting college or university listed in the AIPE or NACES may enlist at any time at pay grade E-2.Has successfully completed 48 or more classroom semester hours (72 or more quarter hours) (without a 4-year degree) at an accredited degree granting college or university listed in the AIPE may enlist at any time at pay grade E-3. Applicants with an associate degree will be enlisted at pay grade E-3 without regard to the number of semester or quarter hours completed.
Point Man I am planning to join the Guam army or air national guard (Guam is a territory of the US). I want to thank you very much sir, I've been waiting for an answer for a long time. Atleast now I have info on how the process is because I will be a senior this upcoming school year in high school. Just wanted to know some info about the seniors processing in NG. Best of luck to your channel, HOAAHH!!!
Does this also apply to the Army Reserves? Like if you do the split training as a junior do you still do one week a month during senior year in the Army Reserves
Yes, but you can enlist right now! You'll just have to wait to next summer to go to basic training but you will start training at the Recruit Sustainment Program one weekend a month each month until next summer. Which means you will start getting trained to prepare for basic training now and you'll be making good money each month. I need to make a video about the Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP).
My name is scott Taylor I think I'm going to joyin the Nashinal Guard and I'm 19 years old I already graduated from high schoo5about two years ago so if I do enlist I'm free fore anything I'm needed for after boot camp that's if I go I'm not sure what I want to do yet I'm thinking still and I like this video I never new if k new when I was 1u I would had joined then and I was in 1wth grate when I was 17
I wanted to join my junior year and I also talked to my recruiter but if I choose to enlist senior year how will that work and when will I have to take the ASVAB?
hey I some questions about joining does the national guard pay for my tuition 100 percent or how much do they pay and by the way I'm a junior in high school
Once you get in, you will inform your Readiness NCO of your interest in deployment. The Readiness NCO will be able to assist you getting on a deployment.
Hey I'm currently a sophomore but I would be turning 17 in march , march 8 2019 but I would like to know would i be able to enlist or would it to be to late for me to join that summer Sb-your video is very helpful thanks
You have to be both 17 and a HS junior simultaneously to join the Guard. It sound like you won't be able to enlist until next school year unfortunately.
im a junior but im not sure if i should wait till im a senior to enlist because it is the beginning of February and i think it might be to late, also im my past two years of highschool i did not do my best in my classes and i am barely passing.
Hello I had a question wasn't sure about this but joining in as a senior will you still go to drill before the summer comes or will you still be pain until basic training
Yes, as a senior you will drill until the summer and receive pay and benefits. Then, after you complete your senior year you will ship to basic training, once complete with basic you'll go to AIT.
