Here is how I did the helical cutterhead upgrade to my 6 inch jointer. Busy Bee Tools also sells an 8 inch version of the helical cutterhead. This was a super easy and cost-effective upgrade to my old 6 inch jointer. It took less than an hour to install the Craftex CXHEL6 helical cutter head in my joint and it feels like a brand new tool.

Hello from Beaumont! Great video and congrats on the upgrade. Just ordered a unit with a helical head. Will be my first machine with one and can't wait.

Dude Love Beaumont. You’ll be pumped when you get it. There is a huge difference between a helical and straight knives.

@@furthernorthfab I’ve been thinking about buying the dewalt planner, didn’t know that u could upgrade the cutter, well kinda did, I’ve been thinking also about getting the king industrial planner/jointer, it has a spiral cutter, it’s about 3600.00 do you think it do u think I’m better off getting that than the dewalt and then having to upgrade it, and their really isn’t a jointer that I see on the market that is in that bench top range, idk better to pay bit extra now or pay for lesser a product and have to up grade??? Help me explain to my wife why I need to spend 3600 haha

I know Rokon has an awesome 12 inch combo. That would be awesome. It’s too big for my current spot, so I’m happy to still to the Dewalt planer and 6 inch jointer I have.
