As someone who has been pretty invested in the Dance Moms fandom for years, something I haven't really seen people talking about is the fact that this whole "rebrand" is happening right on the heels of the abuse allegations Jojo and her mom have been receiving from the girl group they manage, XOMG POP. Jojo is essentially continuing the cycle of abuse started by Abby Lee Miller so the timing of this "rebrand" feels very suspicious. She's trying to distance herself from her ties to XOMG POP as much as possible instead of taking accountability.

When that other girl tells her "it's my 21st birthday too!" Jojo could give a 💩 less. It's all about her! Always!

The song & image drama is calculated. It’s all meant to detract from the fact that she was exploited as a child and continues to exploit other children with her mother on television. If you think about it we see this a lot with celebrities and entertainers on this platform, unfortunately.

the weirdest thing to me about the drunk karaoke thing and the video in the kitchen is she's bothering strangers and then she's like. alone in a house. usually the just turned 21 and got drunk thing happens at a bar with your friends not at Disneyland during the day with one person you know there to film it. its so incredibly awkward it makes me almost feel bad for her if she wasnt a rich person being a clown in public.

I feel like whenever child stars have their "edgy" rebrand moment (miley cyrus was the last big one that I can remember) it really feels to me like they're partly making up for the childhood/teen years they lost, missing out on being a regular kid with a few hiccups along the way (like skipping school or getting caught smoking under the bleachers, etc.) and it's just a delayed "rebellious phase" for them, or a drastic attempt to distance themselves from the PG content they used to do. It's certainly a common trend, almost like a milestone in their lives. Always right around the time they reach legal adulthood and finally have autonomy over themselves.

She's trying to pull a Miley Cyrus but it's not going down that well. Miley had some good stuff by my recollection and people seemed oddly surprised to find out that she could sing.

Bro before I watched the mv and listened to the song i genuinely went into with an open mind and was just assuming that everyone was being a hater....but the longer i let the mv play out the harder it was to defend her. I’m only 5 years older than jojo but I couldn’t imagine having the kind of audience jojo had since she was 9 or 10 . Growing up is hard enough without a huge audience… idk how she or any of the other dance moms girls will find out who they are at their core when they’re constantly stuck to some kind of image they established as a child. Genuinely wish the best for all of them but I think people need to remember they’re still capable of majorly changing within the next year let alone months.

I think Jojo is annoying AF, but I also think that she' a girl who grew up in a very unhealthy, toxic environment where she was constantly told what to do by the adults around her and that she was extorted for entertainment purposes, so to me it makes sense why she behaves the way she does as an adult. I don't think she has a very sturdy sense of self because.. well.. she never had the chance to discover herself like that. We've seen this happen time and time again where the public makes fun of celebrities (usually female celebrities) to the point where they have some kind of break, and then everybody does a 180 out of guilt, and we never learn. So I refuse to make fun of her and I think people are taking it way too far. Yes she's cringe, yes she's loud and annoying, yes she's oblivious to popculture and the world around her in general, but can we really blame her?

My kid was little when JoJo was the bow girl and she was into bows and cute stuff and JoJo always seemed really cool about her young fans and supporters. I’m also an old lady and I remember what it was like to finally be old enough to do adulty things. Idk, I guess I feel like… she’s identifying… hahaha let her do whatever she needs to.

honestly, i feel like she's just hitting her rebellious phase way later than many teens/young people do, purely because of her being a child star and so heavily monitored for so many years. While that doesn't make any of her negative actions okay by any means, I feel like it could explain some of the drastic shifting that she's done lately. Might also help explain how her behavior is still a little childish/childlike. obviously, I'm no psychiatrist or anything, but if she was never really truly allowed to be a kid, it may be coming out now and bringing the not very smart decision making with it. Ultimately, though, I just hope she figures things out before she does irreparable damage to her life, or maybe someone else's. I don't feel like she's a dangerous person or anything, but sometimes stupid choices lead to lifelong consequences, and it almost seems like she's thinking she's immune to any repercussions thus far. While I'm not a fan of hers at all, she's still a person and I'd hate to see her screw her life up when she still has so much of it to live.
