For those who aren't familiar with the source material: This song is the act 1 finale of a musical called "City of Angels". The plot involves parallel narratives of a writer (in this case, Joker) whose mystery novel is being adapted to film and the protagonist detective of his book (in this case, Akechi). This song them arguing over who is more responsible for the other's fame and success. The adaptation here is great if you don't know the context, but it's PHENOMENAL if you have the full context.

It's ridiculous how Joker probably talks more here than he does in the actual 100+ hour JRPG he is the main character in.

I love how Crow is singing the high notes and hogging the spotlight while Joker sings the lower notes for the harmonies, vital yet not overly showy. It fits their characters perfectly and it just makes this all the more perfect. Also good lord you two have chords.

Sad thing is, they're both right. Without Akechi the mental shutdown cases wouldn't have started, thus creating the Phantom Thieves. Without Joker, the need for his investigation into the Phantom Thieves wouldn't have brought him into the full spotlight of the media. Yes, Akechi was on the news before the Phantom Thieves, but his opinions of their actions is what fully sparked the public interest in him.

i truly love these two characters dynamic. How from the start Fake Igor tells you how the game is rigged and unjust. Leading you to think how its all on Joker's life but then Akechi shows up as another wild card but weaker because Fake Igor left him out to dry and see who would win in the end

I adore these lines so much because despite Akechi singing them TO Akira, we all know he's projecting his own insecurities. "Puppet", "you wish you were me". The way the lyrics go with the music's change of pace in this section (if that's what you'd call it, idk music terms haha), and that deeper underlying context to it, gives me chills every time I hear it. It puts this pit in my stomach, so tragic. Such a great display of their characters, especially Akechi's. So good!! Plus your voices are to die for in this song! I love to revisit this, I'm surprised I hadn't commented before now.

Not exactly the right place for this, but I just noticed that their glove and mask colors are reversed. I feel like the mask represents their true self and the gloves are their public image. Crow has a pure white image but a bloody true nature, while Joker is seen as a criminal but is actually a good person. Also the black eye lining could show that he accepts that he still has a dark side.

Robbie, you should totally do a cover of "No More What Ifs" from P5R. I would kill to hear that!

Intresting point about this is these two likely do want to be each other. Joker wants to be loved by people again and be recognized for helping them. He wants to be a good person in peoples eyes even if they dont know it. Akechi wants nothing more than to be alone and in control. He want Jokers freedom to do as he pleases.
