Seriously, I think the "mixing" of genres is what makes this so intriguing and also gives it more freedom to market itself as a musical without people losing interest

Definitely! And I think this film has more room to be transparent about the musical aspect because people will still give it a chance based on the first film, regardless of whether or not they are into musicals in general.

Super interesting! Do you mean as a duet with Frank Sinatra in the actual film?

@@NotesWithNicholas Oh it's just a duet with Judy and Frank so perhaps Harley and Joker are lipsyncing or dancing to it? I know Harley sings That's Entertainment herself on the steps when Arthur gets arrested.

Oh no doubt Joaquin's performance is extraordinary. As far as my thoughts on the plot, I only saw it once when it first came out, so my expectations might have too heavily shaped by the marketing around that release. But this trailer for the sequel has already kind of shifted my perspective on the first film, and I'll definitely give it another viewing before seeing the sequel!

@NotesWithNicholas good for you, brother. I think that's a wonderful idea. And no matter how you feel about it after a second viewing, I think it's great you're willing to give it another go. Just pay attention to the way he moves in the first one. There's almost a gracefulness and natural musical aspect to his character. He just has a natural swag about him. Always asking his mother to dance with him. It's just part of his being. He loves the performance aspect of the clown persona when working as a street clown, (not knowing its his last day) and even after getting beat up by those teenagers, he STILL finishes the performance by squeezing out the water in the rose attached to his coat pocket. There are so many little things like that. Joker is actually my second favorite DC film, only behind The Batman 2022. But it's because of the art and brilliance behind the script and Joaquins' performance. It has nothing to do with him being a Batman villain. And we still technically don't get any real answers about his past and where he REALLY comes from. If he is a Wayne, or just some kid who was adopted by a woman with her own extreme psychological disorders. Sorry, im rambling, lol. I hope you genuinely find enjoyment from either film or at least learn something. Take care, my friend. 🙌

i don’t think you’ve seen a truly pretentious movie then LOL, this is quite mainstream and typical. go watch a weird european arthouse film or something

@@aqeelraja4750 the use of “folie a Deux” is incredibly pretentious. Who came up with that idea to sound artsy and cultured.

@@jakjac645 hence why I said it LOOKS that way. We haven’t even seen the movie yet. But the fact that it’s a musical and is taking a “look at me, im different” approach Makes it give off a pretentious vibe. Oh believe me I’ve seen plenty of artsy films that came off very pretentious and thought they had a clever message and clever delivery of said message.

For me it depends on the context, a gritty realistic film like the first Joker has less room to be on the nose. That's why I think it's a good idea to use the musical format for the sequel
