Almost perfect, because the way Arthur moved his head to match the smile ofc works for the camera, but in the "reality" of that situation, it would've been off and misplaced for Harley's perspective
This is the first Joker actor in three decades who got to play the character more than 1 time besides from Leto, who had only a cameo in ZSJL. And it is someone who rarely ever shoots sequels. This might just be the definitive Joker of this generation.
I hope this garbage flops at the box office. This failure should have happened with the first film, but it was forcibly promoted to the Oscars so that the audience could, through Joaquin receiving an Oscar, imagine what it would be like if Heath Ledger had received it live, so it was antics, not Joaquin Phoenix’s acting performance and Lady Gaga deserve the Golden Raspberry Award. I EXTREMELY HOPE THAT IT FAILS IN THE DISPLAY AND THAT THIS SHAMEFUL TRASH WILL NEVER BE IN THE CINEMA AGAIN. It's the same as if Tom Hardy had won an Academy Award for his role in Venom. Joker: Folie à Deux - OUT OF PLACE SHAMEFUL DELUSION DELUSION...
I like how even the release date of the movie and the release of the trailer are synced up. Release of the trailer is 04/10/2024 and the movie release is 10/04/2024
@@JIGWIGPIG that would be an interesting choice. It would be a stark contrast to Phoenix's Joker, because Keanu has a knack for stoic characters. It could play well with this kinda innocentish Joker and the whole madness situation. But alas we know Bruce in this universe is just a kid and his father is dead, so there is no chance this Joker will ever meet a Batman in his lifetime. Might I add sadly...
Wasn't the whole point of Joker that Arthur is alone, was always alone, and will always be alone lost in his own madness and now blind rage towards society?.
who cares if it's a masterpiece like the first movie. That will be for sure. The combination of music and dance is perfect for crime. This would be a sick thing. 💪
Wasn't the whole point of Joker that Arthur is alone, was always alone, and will always be alone lost in his own madness and now blind rage towards society?
Let's be honest, Joker was as succesful as it was because it was called Joker. It wouldn't have made half the amount of money at the box office if it wasn't using the iconography of one of the most beloved comic book characters of all time. I'm not saying it's a bad movie (far from it), but it's quality isn't the main reason it made over a billion dollars.
@@mintoxace5571 "For some women"??? hah, try for about 99% of them. they want tall, bearded/bald, and criminal tendencies. Then they complain about patriarchy, masculinity, and gender inequality.
The level of debt they give to the Joker is astounding. He's gone from a two dimensional cartoon character to a tragic and conflicted individual with a soul that wants to explode and shed it's oppression.
"Folie à deux (French for "folly of two"), also known as shared psychosis or shared delusional disorder (SDD), is a rare psychiatric syndrome in which symptoms of a delusional belief, and sometimes hallucinations, are "transmitted" from one individual to another." Love it
It's also an anagram for Fox deli eau... The Fox deli being that infamous place where people went crazy after drinking the water. I made that up, but feel free to use it.
I rarely comment on anything, because I just don't care too much, lol. However, the first movie with Joaquin was directed so tastefully, it was a true work of art to me. His acting. I was right there with him. It really touched me. I look forward to #2.
For anyone wondering "Folie a Deux" means roughly "shared madness." Edit: Literal translation vs. Translating for meaning exist. It literally means folly of two, but it's used to mean shared madness. Yes, I am aware of the psychological condition. And no, I didn't google this definition. I learned about it many months ago when the title was announced. I just wanted to share. Why get jealous of something as insignificant as RU-vid likes? This comment section is proof people will start a war over anything. TL;DR: I'm not replying to 450 comments lol
This trailer just makes me feel a certain way. I mean that in the best way possible. The drama and the brooding overtones are so perfect for Todd Phillips’ Joker
@@ssethi1122 don’t bring up an actual film to these mouth breathers. They will have no idea what you’re talking about unless there’s capes in it. People saying that shot is award worthy have only seen 2 films in their lives I swear
The original Joker was terrible. Everyone praised his performance? Insane/Crazy is literally the easiest acting to play! The storyline was slow and uneventful. The relationship with the girl seemed so weird, I couldn’t wait for the twist… the twist was… she’s not real! The TV series Lost did that and everyone was real mad! De Niro finally in a comic book movie… and he plays the most one dimensional caricature that literally anyone could have played. Best bit is when he stabs his bullies… let me ask you something. The weird guy from work doesn’t come in one day, what you doing? Definitely NOT going over to his house for the first time ever! And SOMEHOW they’ve added the worst actress in the world and a musical theme I guess cz it’s Gaga and it “fits”? I’m angry already at how people will be so off AGAIN!
honestly i was alone too and i've seen it twice in a day. but second time didn't hit the same and i kinda got out at the middle of the movie. was too much to bear. but nice life story you got
I wasn't sure about the musical aspect, but now i'm sold. Using music in contrast to their mundane reality to express their shared madness seems really interesting to me.
Speculation is that it will be a musical. I think it will just use music in a couple of very strategic instances to highlight that the Joke finds violence as joyous as music.
It reminds me of how the show LEGION portrayed the characters' madness throughout the seasons. Always so creative with dance numbers and wrestling matches. Highly recommend ! It's one of the best Marvel shows (only loses to Daredevil I'd say)
@@sheepdog5799 I guess you've never seen or at least not properly understood the first film because this was exactly how the first one told its story.
Joker pretending to be nihilist, without going all the way. Like fifth graders daring to touch a cigarette. Pretending to be cool but weak. This movie is child's play, truly a joke but not the one they intended.
@@brassattacks2411 you gonna comment this on every post? Joker isn’t even a nihilist he’s way more of an absurdist it’s also way more of a take on how we raise up people without understanding there actual message and the effects of poverty
@@wiseauserious8750that’s my favorite part of this trailer! The whole trailer is perfect, not sure if the trailers they come out with will top this one.
it's happening, good movies are coming back, I wasn't expecting a 2nd joker and I think it looks better than the 1st, and the 1st was already a masterpiece
Making some of it a musical is a stylistic choice to change the film from the first. Phoenix is an artsy actor he wouldn't have done this sequel unless it was different from part 1. With that said Joker the movie still did not need a sequel and adding Harley really isn't interesting enough to justify making it. With that said while I don't personally need musical numbers the trailer itself looks great acted and great visuals but I'm not 100 percent sold on this movie yet I need to see more. Obviously just like part 1 they aren't going by the comics at all but given these are else world movies they can get away with it. However Suicide Squad already did the more loving Joker Harley romance years before this movie.
Joaquin better get his 2nd Oscar. Joker 2019 is more adult themed than The Dark Knight trilogy and MCU (except Punisher, Daredevil) Hopefully part 2 continues the legacy
Inspiration is normal with films. Scorsese actually considered directing the film but ultimately back out for the Irishman. I don't think it's similar to La La Land except the use of color blue. But we'll see.

While you’re probably spot on, I think it’d be a thousand times better if they flip the script from the first one and it’s all in Harley’s head, and the entire movie is a look at obsession and abusive relationships.
He was knocked unconscious by kids in the first joker movie, and ever since then it’s just been his imagination. The last laugh in the insane house was the only real laugh; all others were imaginary
@@dorianski4328 the timing, the framing, the "i want to see the real you". to coordinate and shoot all that. Multiple meaning for every movement. That few seconds could've been the trailer on its own.
1:32 - "Tell us... what's changed, Arthur?!" *"I'll tell you what's changed, i'm not alone anymore."* It always gives me chills because his line is so genuine. He found someone just like him.
Back in 2019 i went to see this cinema alone in a theater. I looked around and saw many people having a good time. I felt alone. And somehow related what Arther Fleck felt like in this harsh lonely world. When the scene came up where he realized that he was all alone the whole time, talking to himself. Imagining the person which he created in his mind just to cope in that situation. Without realizing few tear fell from my eyes. Fast forward to 2024, i met a girl. Fell deeply in love with her. But it didn't work out. My plan was to watch this second part with her. But it seems i will not be able fulfill my wish. So i would go alone again. I just hope in the end Arther finds some happiness. Even though i know he is the villain. Sometimes we become the villain in someone's world, even if we want to or not. That's how it is. I just sat there by myself till the very end.
I'm sorry things did not work out. I believe it's true, no one's a villian in their own story. Arther was as much a victim as he was a villian in the first film. You are a good person and I hope you find someone again.
It literally just means there's a reference to suicide or self-harm, the only one being, Harley miming shooting herself in the head. RU-vid is really strict about this kind of thing
To this day, I still can't believe that this is from the director of the Hangover movies. Crazy to see how much Todd Phillips has changed throughout his career.
@@BX0207I didn't get that sense at all. I think you're just a very negative person, jealous of the fact that his comment got more likes than yours ever would.
The original Iron Man was also directed by the guy who did Stepbrothers (Jon Favreau) lol. To make people laugh, you gotta understand the full spectrum of human emotion.
@@mtlacunae8659I’m legitimately scared of watching that movie, the first one was awesome and it finished with his death and the origin of the real joker (the one who ended Bruce’s parents)
It makes perfect sense for the musical numbers inside of an Asylum as it shows the way they want to perceive the world and not what is actually around them this movie it’s going to be an amazing hit!!
That warning was literally unnecessary. This trailer doesn't show anything disturbing. Damn all of those red band trailers they don't give you warnings
Never been a fan of musicals. But this might be one that I'll watch. Think in fact it fits perfect the mental health of Arthur Fleck. And also the fact he is in love. So everything seems like a dream when he meets Harley Quinn. Surely looking forward to watch it. Regards from another clown in Denmark, Krusty The Clown.

its not even that original. the joker is known to be depicted in such ways, look at the christopher nolan films. no shade towards this one it looks awesome but I can't stomach all the frothing over the last shot. #jokerbeware
@@quaevox1351 El joker de Matt Reeves no es tan original, literal se ve una copia de ledger. El de Joaquin puedo decirte que es otra versión y otra personalidad.
It is an interesting shot. I'd imagine it was done by having a monitor set up where Phoenix could see himself in order to line it up, but its certainly an interesting choice. The angles not set up for Harley, it's set for the audience. With more context from the scene, it could be even more interesting. And the fact that its a fake smile that only exists in glass at first and then transfers to his real face AND it being Harley to have created that smile, its got a lot of layers to it, ironically with it being a layered shot. All that having been said, I'm pretty sure you're overreacting. They lined up a lipstick smudge on a pane of glass it's not the invention of the wheel.
when i was a kid, i hated the villains. but today that i am much older, i can now understand where are they coming from. they are people who lost theirselves along the way and it is sad
