Brie Larson, Sigourney Weaver and Gal Gadot present Hildur Guðnadóttir with the Oscar for Best Original Score for her work on “Joker” at the 92nd Oscars in 2020. #Oscars #Joker
@AlfmanPlays I was talking about the Bathroom music not the sequence too. But it seems you found it bland which of course, art is subjective, so I respect your opinion.
I got my eye on her as well as Lin Manuel Miranda. I also was Trey Parker and Matt Stone to get the Oscar just cause itd be cool to see them in the EGOT group
Good thing she acknowledged her husband on the speech. When they announced her name she turned around and threw herself in Todd Phillips' arms while the poor guy stood there watching lol
@@defaultc00kies63 1:16 that's why she launched at him, Todd chosed her and let her do her art without standing in the way, that's the worth of partnership adn friendship.
@@defaultc00kies63 Bro... Todd asked her to write the score before filming even began. He crafted the entire movie around her music!! She is so much of what Joker is... For a director to allow a composer to do something like this is incredibly generous
@Darwin Viera Wrong. Marilyn Bergman won for "Yentl", Rachel Portman won for "Emma", and Anne Dudley won for "The Full Monty". Now, Hildur Guđnadóttir is the fourth woman to win an Oscar as a composer.
@@amandanies3174 As a matter of fact, there are three Nordic composers that were nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Score, and only two had won: Jóhann Jóhannsson (Iceland) - The Theory of Everything, Sicario = Nominated Ludwig Göransson (Sweden) - Black Panther = Winner Hildur Guðnadóttir (Iceland) - Joker = Winner
They are not allowed to put up any videos played at the live show on RU-vid. Not even the videos detailing the actors' and actresses' performances. They have to directly introduce the nominees and then proceed to reveal the winner. Edit: I've made a mess at explaining this. I earlier believed it was the film clips you were talking about, in which case, the above is the answer. But I'm not sure why the introduction by the orchestra hasn't been published yet. It's been published by other channels but not the Oscars, so I guess the Oscars, who have a major part in the industry, have to abide by copyright rules.
1:48 When she pointed up in the air to thank her mother and son I thought they had passed away, then I felt like an idiot when I learned they were on the balcony.
@@swaroop7021 I just like Both DC and Marvel Endgame Makes me leave Superhero Movies But Nolan trilogy,Winter solider,Thor 3,Dr strange and IW are the best comic book Movies
@@mygamesmychoice1119 The only reason why Black Panther won the Oscar it because the movie is about racism (politics) So don't playing, asshole Black Panther is overrated
Other Nominees (just in case): - Little Women by Alexandre Desplat - Marriage Story by Randy Newman - 1917 by Thomas Newman - Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker by John Williams
"The Rise of Skywalker" should never have been included among these nominees. What a horrific waste of John Williams' talent to just have him string together a mixtape of his best themes and leitmotifs and pass it off as the final "Star Wars" score to be helmed by John Williams. His nomination should have gone to either James Newton Howard for "A Hidden Life" or even Alan Silvestri for "Avengers: Endgame".
My favorite score was definitely Marriage Story but Joker’s was definitely the best one. the music is so unnerving and uncomfortable, how Arthur is feeling throughout the movie with his laughter
@@GellertTV Joker was a better move than 1917 but come on, just look at this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qbZgi8oH1JE.html 1917 fully deserved to win best score
I can’t wait what she does next. And the fact that comic book movies have won this category back to back is so rewarding. And also to all the little girls that are going to be following Hildur’s amazing achievement.
Hail Pickens 24, but why? Hildur clearly said it in her speech. And besides it aspires little girls to pursue a possible career in music. Nothing wrong with that, right? And besides, Hildur is the only 5th woman to win for Best Score.
@@klmknop wtf dude, it's not only girls, of course boys can be inspired too, but there's always been so many talented men to be awarded, but now that a woman won a deserving Oscar for best score, and girls can be inspired, represented, proud for what she has accomplished as a musician. Why everything people say about woman has to become a problem?
@@angelcastaneda529 Why the fuck would there be little girls watching the Oscars specially since its the soundtrack award that also is from an R rated movie...
Hail Pickens 24, sigh. That’s not what I meant and you know it. What I meant to say is that with Hildur’s example, little girls would want to pick up an instrument and want to pursue a career in music. If you don’t think people, regardless of gender shouldn’t show of their talents to the world, then you are the problem.
It's terrifying how in a matter of months she ended up getting an Emmy, Grammy, and then the Oscar. She's literally a tony away from being an EGOT, and has the rare chance to be the first person to EGOT in the respective order of the EGOT. Congratulations to her hustle
No female talent gets 'handouts'. We just don't get recognition. That year not even a single female director was nominated despite giving excellent works.
“this is how you get female representation” honey, newsflash: you’re a man. i don’t think you should and can really say how female representation should be done.
@@itsflowerside Ummm.. You are right. But this is aspirational. I personally love it when women achieve things on a level playing field. And there are many many such achievements. It a big FU to doubters who think women are inferior in some way. Also, I found your comment to be patronizing. It's not the right way to get a point across.
I honestly wish Knives Out was nominated for this category. The score in that movie is so underrated. People are seriously ignoring how brilliant Knives Out's score was. Though Joker's score deserved the win! Well done!!!
Amazing how the sweetest, most soft-spoken woman created two of the darkest scores (this and Chernobyl) I've ever heard. She literally composed the sound of despair and depression.
So many memorable tunes, like that one where he was dancing, classic. Couldn't think of any better film to win best score. Nope, not a single one comes to mind.
I listen (and love) classical music, so I knew Hildur Gudnadottir since some years, before she became famous with _Joker_ and _Chernobyl_ , especially because she was a student but also a collaborator of the great Johann Johannsonn, another great Icelandic musician. I'm very happy that Gudnadottir was awarded with the Oscar for her beautiful work on _Joker_ , and I think that her victory is also a way to remember her mentor Johannsonn, died in 2018 and never awarded by AMPAS (he was nominated twice).
To create a score like this, you really need to have the ability to connect music to a feeling. All she pretty much had was the script, but took the story and created a composition to match it perfectly.
Joker may well be one of the mist recognised scores of all time joining an elite list that includes Lawrence of Arabia,Star Wars, Titanic, Gone With the Wind,E.T. and many more...Well done Hilda....
She did a fantastic job on joker's film score.. Absolutely amazing. It moves me soo much.. I listen to a crazy amount of classical and normal instrumental music. This score is definitely up there with my favourites.
The score of Joker haunts me every Time Such a deserved winner Why is Marriage story nominated?, that score is a copy of Toy Story Poor Thomas Newman 15-0
@@rickardkaufman3988 Yeah, we know that he's the same composer who composed these movies. Just because he scored a Pixar film like Toy Story and a real-life drama film like Marriage Story, doesn't mean that its musical style, melody and tone are one and the same. Like, these musical scores in these movies are different. Period.
@@rickardkaufman3988 Not just the style, but also its melody and tone, as I said earlier. Both of these movies were distinctive and different in its own.
First time I saw her win at the Golden Globes, I never knew what she looked like, only knew the name, so when she won I thought “She’s a woman!”. Very well deserved
I have a lot of strong opinions about joker, but goddamn did it deserve this award, the score was brooding and creepy, yet somehow mesmerizing, quite good I mean parasite's score was better but it wasn't nominated so ya know
Three female presenters, a female conductor, and one female nominee. That means John Williams will win, right? (But seriously though, did they need to make it so obvious lol)
@@elisabetalexiajonsdottir9159 You saying she is better than other Hollywood composers such as Hans Zimmer, John Williams or Howard Shore sounds kinda biased to be honest. I don't think its right to compare them either. Don't get me wrong, I personally think she deserved the award as well, I mean John Williams already won numerous times so it wouldn't be fair if he won again and compared to other nominees she did such a good job with Joker. She totally deserved it. By the way, I just noticed your surname with Hildur looks kinda same so I wonder that's the reason you said she's better haha. :D
