Before Pink Floyd, David Gilmour was in a band called Jokers Wild. They only released one E.P. Here are the first 3 tracks... "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" "Walk Like a Man" "Don't Ask Me (What I Say)"
1. People came here to listen to David's early guitar playing. 2. The video never said it's his band, the description says he was in it. 3. It's Gilmour.
Dave taught Syd how to play not the other way around. Dave was just doing what was needed to play for a working cover band. It's not about personal playing style
We didn't call them cover bands in those days. They were deservedly popular as they were all good singers and Dave Altham was a good arranger. Dave was as much of a beginner as Syd was and to my certain knowledge it was not his youthful guitar skills which got him into this band. Ask Tony Sainty (if you can still find him). He auditioned Dave in Ken Stevens music shop.
Wow.now that i think about it, these songs take on a whole new meaning. literally. just like the first Pink Floyd recordings.. interesting, fascinating forshadowing, depressing, and, tragic.
This is the first time I have seen anywhere I have seen a cover of this EP and more than two songs available. They also pressed about fifty copies of a 45 of two tracks from this (the ones most often bootlegged). Last time one of these came up for sale in England it went for a lot of money. There is one (at one point) in an archive. At one point you could here it, I would have to dig up that info if anyone was intrested.
The information on this (and other uploads) and the bootleg singles is vague and most likely incorrect. This could have been recorded before 1965; if so, the band would not have been composed of Rick Wills & Willie Wilson (who joined mid-'65). Besides David Gilmour were David Altham, John Gordon, Tony Sainty, Clive Welham; some sources indicate that Peter Gilmour and Dick Parry may have also been in the band at some time.
It was Dave Althams band .Dave Gilmore came along later,so later on they were both in the band, but it was DAVE ALTHAM`S band ..........he started it, Gilmore just happened to play in it.
