And for 5 years or so, I worked with his son at Lackland AFB, Texas, Foster, Jr. that went by the name of Dick. I didn’t even know he was his son until I saw his obituary and just thought the first name was a coincidence. He was a retired MSgt that worked repairing equipment in the fitness centers.
I grew up in Indiana, but forgotten about watching this on HBO as a kid. The first time I drove through the Holland Tunnel, in Weehawhen, NJ, I remembered this movie.
Weehawken is in NJ right across from Manhattan, on the Hudson river. It's old NJ, back when it was a grittier industrial powerhouse. Booming middle class growth and mobility. Giant. Jerry captures the spirit of that time in this film.
MANY years ago i was in a store called Audio Video Plus on Waugh dr. in Houston that had basically EVERY damn THING ever released on VHS. I saw the movie Cracking Up and had never heard of it. I went up to check it out and the two dudes looked at each other and said to each other "Jolly Fats Weehawkin " with a laugh. The movie is terrible of course but it has some funny stuff. I copied and edited the thing down to about 12 minutes of solid laughs with my vhs copyright eliminator setup circa late 80's. I just threw that tape out a last year.
Ajay, yes it is.....Buddy Lester. He, as well as others are in a lot of his movies. JL was loyal to his supporting actors and they had roles in a lot of his movies.
This is one of the stupidest movies I ever saw, but never boring and I actually laughed myself half to death. Jerry Lewis’ character also plays three other people and the main character always driving different cars. A Ford Mustang 2, an early 80’s Mazda, and 1969-1970 Ford station wagon among them.
