This is the show I went to. The sound was amazing and the crowd loved every minute of it. Richie Castellano produced this tour and did an outstanding job! Richie is a super multi talented over achiever...
@@julio_scissors It was Awaken that I felt most blown away by, but the whole show was incredibly well done. I've been a long time fan of Ritchie Castellano, BOC, and the whole Band Geek gang. My favorite band growing up in the seventies was YES, and especially the voice of Jon Anderson. Put them together and I'm a happy boy.
Not bad for a guy who looks how i feel lol. I grew up listening to YES. I then worked on air at a AOR rock station that played these now classics. I am amazed at the notes he can hit. Truly a rock legend. I am glad you guys got to see the show. The doobie brothers are also on tour with Michael McDonald. That would also be a great show. and whoever shot the pirate video!!! Hats Off Man!!! Or Lady 😊
Jon is unreal. That he essentially sounds the same after all these years is truly a gift and a testament to how he preserved his voice even after some difficult times over the years. The ONE AND ONLY eternal voice of Yes. You still give me chills after all these years. What a ride, that still continues.....and kudos to this magnificent group of expert musicians that has managed to replicate this incredibly complicated music. Hats off big time guys!
Actually he is singing better than ever!!! Wonder if that is linked to support tech like autotune... Anyway its just amazing and the way all the greats do it nowadays....
@@rodiguru That's because the bass player, sound engineer of Band Geeks, as well as all the other hats he wears. Is as someone below says? And over achiever in everything he does. He's much like a Todd Rundgren from back in the day. Who in the same vein as Steely Dan, can play every instrument he's tried his hand at. And quite well. Is also a sound board master, and videographer magician as well. You name it, he does it. Everyone in the band can sing as well as play multiple instruments as well. Harmony on both the singing and musician roles has always been a big deal. Not to mention he started off as a sound man for Blue Oyster Cult & was with them as a musician and back up vocals for over 20 years. The band has worked on perfecting YES sound for at least 5 years. because they all love YES and eventually called in the only one they knew, could hit all of Jon's Notes. A female vocalist, who didn't think she even could. Yet with all this expertise behind him? He said he nearly smashed up his car, when Jon called him on the phone while he was driving. And asked if his crew would like to meet. He said he was so tongue tied, he just mumbled something like Yes, lol. He worked with the likes of Buck Dharma for 20 years, yet when one of his life long favorites calls? He crumbles like a kid in a candy store. lol. You gotta love the humbleness of him as well. Tell me this woman cant do Jon? lol - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TsJKxTDza60.html
@@jonandersonn-qf9vt Hi Jon. I live in UK in Lt.Oakley.Essex. not far from Colchester. Loved Yes ever since your first album.Been to many of the concerts in UK over the years. This current band are superb musicians and a joy to watch. I miss Chris but the new bassist is superb. You certainly know how to keep the spirit of Yes!
Good Lord, these guys are all phenomenal. Jon hasn't skipped a beat and the Geeks are top tier musicians. This is some of the best live music I've seen.
This is astonishing. 50 years ago, whilst my mates were revising for some exams, I was receiving education of a far greater value - my first Yes gig (Free Trade Hall Manchester). My heart was broken when we lost Chris Squire and then Alan White last year, and I feared we would never hear these classics performed live to the old standard again (I saw Yes many times and they never failed to deliver). Watching this has given me a buzz that I can't describe. Phenomenal performance by each musician and Mr Anderson - you defy time!! Sincere thanks for it all.
I attended the show, and expected to have an enjoyable enough evening. Instead, it turned out to be what may be the best concert I have ever seen. It was extraordinary. And this video captures it all. Thank you!
@@christophernoble289 What's funny is when I saw Firebird Suite performed with an orchestra and it ends right where Yes is supposed to come in, but of course, no Yes, just the end of the symphony. haha
Hard to believe these guys were only together for 2 weeks !!! Shows what great musicians they were . Would have been nice to see Getty Lee from RUSH play bass since I feel he had so much to do with YES finally getting inducted to the Hall of Fame ! At least as a guest bass player . How bout it Mr. LEE ! Would love to see that ! That’s not to say this bass player doesn’t hold his own!! Love you Jon for carrying on. I would love to see you in Chicago ! You have many fans in our city !
My God, the band is so fricken tight I swear I can close my eyes and it's YES REINCARNATED! They're absolutely amazing with the Maestro Jon nailing every single note I can't stop watching!! I want to thank whoever recorded this outstanding show! Thank you so much!! I wish that they would come to Florida 🌴🌴 God Bless Yes
think about it such touching and soul moving music. fitting to me since ja the lead singer is satan who is playing both god and satan in this world for the time being
Much love and respect to my friend Christopher J Clark (keyboardist on the right side) Great performance! We are so happy you are working with Jon Anderson!
Thanks for posting this Tapehead! I was at this show Too! (See what I did?) I've been to a lot of Yes shows, The classic lineup, ABWH, Union, ARW, the Beniot David shows, Steve Howe’s current version…..but this here……Dang Skippy, this was an incredible show, and what a band the Band Geeks are! I seriously think this may have been the best Yes show I’ve ever seen, the performance quality, Jon is in just UNBELIEVABLE form (and he had the flu earlier in the week!) regardless of his age, the sound mix at the venue, the crowd was great, and what a gorgeous venue The Lyric is. I was at Tysons the Wednesday before too, and that was great, but this was the better of the two shows, more energy and a more appreciative crowd. What an incredible venue The Capitol One Hall is also. Thanks again Tapehead. Hopefully we’ll be able to see more of this STELLAR version of YES!
The Band Geeks! Amazing! I've been watching these guys on Richie's youtube channel for awhile and I'll be damned! Fucking brilliant! More of this PLEASE! ⚡🙏
What a great way to spend a Saturday night. I just got the brand new live 8 track Yessongs and drove around listening to incredible music 50 years ago. Thank you Tapehead2 for such a wonderful concert. Jon Anderson, what a great talent
To be able to retain the feel and intonation of Howe's pedal steel lines on a bottleneck slide is extremely skilled. Overall, this is THE example of paying tribute to the original guitarist and displaying pyrotechnic chops. Steve Howe is a master. Now, the mantle passes so we can enjoy. Not unlike classical performance of old pieces. Done fantastically. Bravo, Andy Graziano!
I mean the aktually YES. I,m a Big YES Fan since 1972. I Love the YES Music through all dedicades. But since 2012, there was only one Line Up wich make real Yes music, and this Line Up was YES fest ARW. And now the Band Geek and you keep the Yes music alive.
Folks I was there … the build up to 1:20:50 and everything after was sublime and transcendent… I think everyone in that room saw the face of god for a moment … thank you Jon and Ritchie … what a gift
I was at this show. Thank you so much for this stunning recording. Pretty much the angle I had for the show. Center in the back of the lower level. I was hoping someone was filming the entire show. Thanks again!
@@doughaas536 Really hoping for that! If this was captured just from a video camera or cell phone on a mount, it is very good, but this band deserves to be heard in its full glory with professionally captured multi camera video and properly mixed audio from the board.
I can’t believe Jon is almost 80 and sounds almost exactly the same as when I first heard them in the 70’s it’s amazing! Just wonderful! Thank you @Jon Anderson and band mates I love you guys
Oh dear - I’m feeling incredibly emotional!! The Yes Album was the first I ever bought and I never looked back. Many concerts later this is right up there, probably the very best. The musicianship is faultless - my deep respect and love to every one of these amazing guys - but Jon, what can I say …… Jon has been the soundtrack of my life (along with others of course - but always the ‘go to’, the ‘if I could only have one record on a desert island’’) . And thank you so much for recording and posting this!! I’d sell my soul to see this band and Jon live - amazing. Move over the fake ‘Yes’ - this has all the ❤. Love, love, love to all like minded souls ……. Xx
What an enviable experience to be able to play an instrument with Jon Anderson. I honestly respect him and I want to sing next to him while playing the bass.
If only Steve and Jon could be locked in a room for a day to hash things out and give it a go to do one last big tour . Omg that would be fantastic. I was just glad that I could bring my older brother to see this show in Jersey before he passed. The joy in his face that night I will never forget. All those many years ago he turned me on to Yes . Thank you brother. Joe. He is at peace now. Yes music was always his way of getting back to peace with Mother Earth. Thank you Jon.
Anderson is no more Yes than my dog is. He’s just a bitter old man relegated to spend the rest of his years in a series of ill fated cover bands because he’s a greedy jerk.
Well that’s not a Yes concert at all. But that’s cool you can get all excited from a cover band. You’re easily entertained. And that’s not really a bad thing. But some of us prefer the genuine article.
Read it again, Sweetie Pie: I said "Yes music concert." This show kicked ass all over the "official" yes charade. People who experienced these shows will tell you so, Sweeny Poe.
These new Band Geek Yes shows have changed my life. I first saw Yes in 1972. It’s been a long love affair. The energy of these shows is the closest thing to the original Yes since the 70’s. Jon Anderson is the Maestro that holds the magic key to the proper presentation of this glorious music. Chris Squire is smiling from Heaven at what his partner is doing. I’ve watched every show posted since this tour started. It feels so good to see and hear the Master surrounded by dedicated great musicians giving us this great gift. Thank you for the fine quality post. Much love
I grew up listening to Yes because of my dad. He took me to this performance and it was surreal. Jon's vocals were on point, the band incredibly talented and great audience. What a privilege to see Mr. Anderson live.
Thank you so much for video and sharing. Looking forward to authorized video of show to purchase. They, Jon sound GREAT and props to the Geeks. Wow. Afraid I was never going to hear a band for Jon but here they are. I hope they continue this summer. They are on Fire!
O M G. Fantastic recording. I hope like anything they come within 4 hours of Atlanta sometime soon. I’d pay anything. This wonderful concert showcased some of my favorites like Heart of the Sunrise, Starship Trooper, and Close to the edge. When I saw the harp, I knew that meant Awaken. What I didn’t expect was it so sound so like the original players were performing! I hope And You and I are on here too. EDIT: Yay, I think I died and went to heaven. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS!
WOW! I've seen the classic Yes circa 1979 the in the round stage setting and it was an amazing show! This was every bit as good as that as Jon's voice is in fine form here,I just wish I had went!
I am soo pissed that I missed this concert right in my backyard,I wish I had known about it but the video is extremely excellent, thanks again mr tapehead,I will treasure this show forever!
I am so impressed, and immensely joyful that Jon got to enjoy playing these favorites of his with such talented and inspired “bandgeeks !” . . . and sorry, but what an honor all the way round. Everything was awesome !! Thank you soooo much for sharing this. 🤗
What an outstanding achievement by all those involved. Special thanks to Richie for managing this endeavor! It is heartwarming to see that the musical spirit of humanity is still being kindled and past down to others with reverence and respect!
I would gladly take an evening with this band over one with the musicians currently calling themselves Yes. These guys clearly love the music and are nailing it, and they've got the only singer who can do these songs justice. Jon sounds amazing. Great job on the video!
I don't hate Steve Howe. He used to be an innovative guitar player with an instantly recognisable sound. The demise of Yes already set in when Jon was fired from the band and Chris was still alive. If you listen to live recordings from that period, you'll notice that the overall sound lacks accuracy and tightness and that the band tends to play slower in general. Furthermore I don't think Geoff Downes, while in his own right a fine keyboard player, has ever been a good match for Yes like, for instance, Moraz or even Khoroshev. I'm sure Sherwood, Davison and of recent Schellen are doing the best they can, but this band is a far cry from the Yes we know and love. I've been following the Band Geeks for some time and I've always been touched by their integrity and joy while performing songs from their musical heroes. Touring with Jon Anderson has been a master-stroke. The Geeks are at the top of their game and Jon Sounds rejuvenated. I hope they'll consider a European tour so I might see them in Holland.
@@sirborges When i saw YES via the live theater screenings years ago, Steve came off as a bit of a curmudgeon. Seems Jon was having to walk on eggshells with him. Maybe they did Jon a favor, looking in the rearview.
@@bennieuwenhuis2443Steve is just old. It happens to all the greats. Arthritis, etc years of playing. When he was young no one could touch Steve . He was the greatest. He’s just older. Approaching 80. Most of the musicians from the 60s and 70s have retired. Steve as is Jon are just doing what they love
i have to say as a YES fan for over 50 years apart from the best original line up in 2003+...anderson howe, squire, wakeman and white....who were utterly sublime (saw them 3 times in the uk) these guys knock it outa the park!!!!...much more up tempo than YES these days and frankly, much much better...please come to the uk jon with these guys...simply superb concert.
I started watching the band geeks during covid. To partner with Jon Anderson is fantastic. You guys hit it way out of the park. Probably the most technical clasic Yes tunes.
This sounds much better then the tributeband Steve Howe is leading. It’s the voice that finishes of the real sound. Jon Anderson rules! ✌🏻❤️ Great respect for the Geeks. They sound exactly like the Yes I saw in the 70’s in Rotterdam.
@@jonandersonn-qf9vt Why are you pretending to be Jon Anderson? I can not only tell you are not the great Jon, your first language is not even English. Give it a rest!
Well to be honest this band is really a tribute band as well. To be fair. They are more talented and play with more vigor than Steve’s band . I’ll give you that. But Jon is the only Yes member and Steve actually has Geoff who has been on several Yes albums dating back to the 80s and up until recently had Alan(RIP).
fantastic music and musicianship, that inimitable YES voice and to top it off; meaningful, inspirational, motivational lyrics! The Lyric's acoustics perfectly suit YES. Thanks for the show!
Love how you've breathed new life into these awesome tunes. Ritual is my favorite piece of music ever, and you guys made it soar. Thank you!!! Jon, you sound amazing man. So happy to hear your beautiful voice doing what it was meant do, sing Yes music. :-)
Incredible...Last time I've seen Jon Anderson was with Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe back in 89 I believe. Now I'll get to see this amazing voice one last time in June! Thanks for posting!
I had my doubts. Full 50-year YES fan here. I went straight to AWAKEN and ROUNDABOUT to see if they could do it. NO PROBLEM!! With 50% fewer keyboards but 100% more keyboardists! Congrats to you all, and to Jon for being able to perform at this level at his age.
Watching again, as I often do, it’s hard to imagine this extraordinary, complex, emotional music being played any better. Jon’s is a voice for the ages 🙏
As others have said, it takes some serious talent to pull of the music of Yes. Especially since these people weren't even involved in the writing of these pieces some 50 years ago. Stunning and quite the achievement. Hats off to Jon Anderson for singing with them as well, BRAVO!
It just proves that any good musician can learn to play YES music but there will only ever be One Jon Anderson, The only voice of YES! May he be blessed with a long lasting career beyond any other vocalist.❤️
