Jon Anderson has always been my favorite Prog Rock vocalist. He is not only the voice of Yes, but the voice of an entire genre of excellent music. Long live PROG!
Steve howe plays with tribute band singers and other imitators while Jon Anderson plays with studio musicians who love Yes music. Jon sounds incredible almost at 80! I can barely get out of bed at 70 old. What a blessing ! Appreciate what we have-miracles can't last.
I agree that Steve Howes band is no match for these guys, however I don't think it's fair to say they're not good musicians. I'm not really sure what the problem with that band is but there's definitely something off. If I was going to guess the only actual band member is Steve and everyone else is simply a paid side man. It's not a real partnership or meeting of mines it's one guy in charge. Not that that's much different from a lot of fans. I get the feeling Jon is treating these guys as equals and they're probably not just paid sidemen
When you have musicians playing music that was invented from other musicians you have a tribute band. Jon Anderson is the only original band member here
@@johnurban7333 I am certainly no fan of the Steve Howe presents the music of yes band, you can't say that he wasn't integral to the creation of the vast majority of music at this band is playing
This. This combo right here. This is for True Believers. So glad the Band Geeks and Jon found each other. This is the true spirit of these songs right here. Stellar.
This blows away any so called YES since the early 90s with Trevor. Band is 100% on fire!!! Jon's voice is brilliant. Thank you for this post and making my day. Loved the bass.
Hearing the Firebird Suite brings back teenage memories, My friend and I so happy and excited that the band were close to coming on stage .We usually felt over whelmed and emotional after seeing Yes Play, Then for a few hours after, very happy and hyper, Talking Teenage make believe stories, and felt in another world. No drugs needed. We were naturally high, High the memories. 💜
I've been loving Yes since 1971, saw them live a dozen times and...there are no words. Have been wishing for a time machine until now. This is beyond great. THAT voice with guys who REALLY do justice to the music. Speechless.
I remember listening to this song at full blast in 1971 on a Pioneer receiver and pretty good speakers. It was in my best friend's bedroom (when his Mom wasn't home.) Were now 70 years old - and the song is still here!!!
To say that this is simply f-ing incredible would be a gross understatement. I mean this is a true reproduction of Yes music despite it being a cover band with the original singer. I mean...DAMN. If you are thirsty for Yes music...you won't leave unsatisfied. I wish I could have made the Reading, PA show. This is uncanny.
To call The Band Geeks a cover band is a bit disingenuous. They are all formally trained professional musicians. Richie Castellano has been a member of Blue Oyster Cult for 20 years.
OMG, Yes is back. I cant believe what Im hearing and seeing. Jon's voice is phenomenal and this band is perfect. Howe's Yes is a joke. Take a back seat. There is no Yes without Jon Anderson. and the Band Geeks cut the mustard boy....WOW!!!!!!!
As good a brand of Yes as anything in a long time. Howe can't play with the same speed and dexterity as he did in his younger days, and the band was slowing the tempo as a result. Age does that to us all. It's nice hearing the songs at their original pace. It's also great hearing someone play bass with Squire's original style - it wouldn't be the same without Squire's thunder. The magic keyboardists' ridiculous fingers are amazing. Amazingly faithful, solid drumming. And of course Anderson is unaffected by time. Whatever it is out there calling itself Yes - they are not yes. They are the ghosts of yes. The sound of yes is onstage here - with Anderson and the amazing geeks.
I went to see Howie's Yes a while ago. The band was good enough but during the show Howie started bleating on about brexit for some stupid reason. Spoilt it a bit.
😅Every note pure, every harmony spot-on, every drumbeat perfectly timed. It's like I can close my eyes and envision the times I saw Chris, Steve, Jon, Rick, and Alan perform these songs at a dozen different concerts in the '70's. Thank you guys for an extremely wonderful performance. I just wish people would get off the "Oh, this one is better than that one" BS, and appreciate this for what it is no matter what iteration is playing it.......GREAT FUCKING MUSIC!! conceived, created, and performed by Prog Rock geniuses.
I saw Yes in 1974 in Dallas and about 20 years ago, I like Jon singing - wish he had been here 20 years in Houston Some of the greatest Rock n Roll - masterpieces.
HELL YES ! (no pun Intended). While I'm a Huge Steve Howe fan, his current Entourage/Lineup of "Yes" DOESN'T Cut it !...they sound like a Yes Tribute band with a Slow, Plodding Rhythm & Pace, and Jon Davison, despite his efforts, DOESN'T do it for me on vocals ! Thank You, Jon Anderson, for Re-Energizing the sound of Classic YES !
Happy for Jon and all that.... but thank God I got to see the real thing on so many occasions between 1989 and 2004. Truly grateful. RIP Chris and Alan.
yeah. will always remember them walking thru the crowd at Wembley Arena singing Time & A Word at the start of the show. Jon completely acappello. May have dropped a couple of octaves or whatever since the old days but at 80 he has to be the greatest rock vocalist ever. Always loved Plant, Gillan etc but nobody can still do it like Jon.
"I recognize the drummer...bassist and guitarist...keysmen....Who's the Singer??" ;) (I'll get me coat...) :D All kidding aside, Long Time Yesfan here (Since 1971) ! It's an understatement to say that it's about stinkin' time that Jon Roy Anderson gets back to where he truly lives, SINGING YES SONGS!!! You guys are ALL sounding so fantastic together.... The world needs it right now.
Disgrace is right behind "And You And I" as my favorite yes tune. And this great video proves Anderson is perfectly capable of reproducing Yes music without the rest of the band.
What an Awesome Show, and thanks for the Videos. i saw Yes Twice in the 70's, '74 for the Relayer Tour and in '78. Been A huge fan since i heard Roundabout and the Fragile Album in the 70's had to had every album starting with Time and A Word. Jon still has the best Voice in Rock and Roll...Hands Down.
I had the privilege of seeing Yes on the Topographic Oceans tour when I was in high school. It was over fifty years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday. The impact was that great. What a band! (Rest in peace, Chris Squire.)
Yes... f-ing incredible! ++++. Saw Yes at Wembley Arena (in the round) in 1978 (or was it 79? ... whatever...) . 2nd most memorable gig I've ever been to. I would go anywhere in the world to hear these guys. Jon, it took me many years to understand but, may peace be with your spirit.🥰
The most unique voice of rock history still going strong. Live long and prosper, Jon! 🖖 The band is excellent. However, it takes two certainly talented keyboardists to replace one Wakeman!
Chris could do it by himself, and it would sound like Yes in concert, but with the added keyboardist, it sounds like a Yes record - with his added vocals to boot.
I’m fine with 2 keyboardists. In fact, add another bass player also, or guitarist etc. it is nearly impossible to replicate the recorded music we all love. Many recordings have overdubs and additions that I love but are nearly impossible to produce live with 5 musicians. I’m appreciating Chris more and more, RIP. What thunder he made!
👏 Awesome 👏 well done 👍 This is the first song YIND, I remember hearing on the radio on WABX in Detroit back in 71, that made me an instant Yes Fan! No disrespect here to Yes of today, which have a brilliant new Album coming out later this month. It is what it is. YES is always evolving.
This is a much more enjoyable listen than whatever is currently touring as 'Yes'. Steve Howe and yes-men stumbling their way sluggishly through the hits.
JON ❤ this is way better than ARW 2018. ARW was great I was blessed. But this JON and Band Geeks... AMAZING WOW BLOWN AWAY this is 100% REAL YES JON ANDERSON ❤
Unreal sounding! Closest thing to the original we'll ever get to hear live! I love when the song ends and Jon spins around crediting the band, he points at Andy the drummer 13:06
