Why I feel like people were hating on him in the crowd lol it's not an act. He was raised in a black neighborhood and went to a black church. You are the product of your environment
I recently saw him in concert and met him and he's amazing, humble, and appreciative of his fans and respects musicianship!! And he's pure soul and all about making pure music for the love of it and not the numbers.
I remember this performance and had it on tape. I kept cringing and rewinding back to 2:40 because he forgot the words to They Don't Know. What he said was "You should know by now that sh-n-sh-ay-nuh" instead of "that it's gonna take a lot of trust from you for us to make it through" It's ok, Apollo is a tough crowd and makes people nervous! I still love him.
I can tell you what was wrong with the audience. He is white from Rhode Island and the crowd was black. They just didn't know how to respond or act because up until that point, Jon was the first white cat that really had soul and swag.
@@hudsonhaverford1319 Ever hear of Lisa Stansfield? She was on this show in 1989 and the audience went nuts for her. Not only is she white, but also British.
Just cause he don't look black people assume he's acting. Its the same if an Asian or a hispanic grew up in a black neighborhood. Or in a Polynesian neighborhood. You adapt that into the person you become. I don't see color here I see passion and talent. Much love and respect to Jon B ✌💝
me personally i like this performance ,he did hit some nice notes and did some nice vocal runs especially the vocal at 0:18 - 0:23 that vocal run was nice In My Opinion , also people need to realise singing live is not always easy , its require good breathing into the diaphragm which can be quite tiring , he could of mimed but he didn't , and to make things more nerve-wracking he is singing to bare black people who just straight faced, no cheering ,no moving ,that must of felt quite intimidating , I LIKED THE PERFORMANCE AS A WHOLE he tried
HappiSushi12 IT WASN'T DRUG ADDICTION!! He just had his UNSUNG on TVONE and yes it was bad promotion and deals, but he never had a DRUG PROBLEM! He's getting ready to drop his 8th album this year. His last 2 were independent. But ALL of them were great bodies of work. If you would like to know more about him & see how much his fans love him, check me out @TeamJonB on Twitter & IG!!
HappiSushi12 where exactly in that episode did you hear him say "I smoked weed & coke"??? He said "I was drinking and smoking alot". He could've been talking about cigarettes for all we know. And when did his parents come out and say we "made" him go to rehab??? You must have the greatest sources in the world b/c no interviews, magazines, or other outlets have talked about his "Drug problem" and how he went into "rehab". That would have been topic of discussion since 08' when he came out with his 6th album. I know Jon and he's very open about his life & what has happened so you can go on somewhere with your lipstick alley information!!! Until you got some real evidence & receipts, worry bout yourself & your problems!
Nobody cares about smoking cigs it's LEGAL, almost 1/3 of the population smokes. Weed on the other hand is not. Jump to Don't talk and he says he got into drugs and drank when he became not so hot. Dude, '06 nobody cared about Jon B I haven't heard anything from the man that charted SINCE don't talk. Why are you defending Jon B? He's a grown ass man he can defend himself.
That's so disrespectful....his wife is beautiful and she has been with him through thick and thin, I'm glad he didn't pick anyone in the industry who would have been fake love🤔...I love them together 11 years and counting
lakeysha landry 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Right? HE likes her! And BTW, does anybody think any of these Hollywood celebrities look the same way without the hair, makeup and lighting? Everybody looks pretty normal without all of that - not that there’s anything wrong with that!
JON B. shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Robin Thicke! No comparison. Jon did it better and it comes naturally to him. Robin thicke is a joke.
I'm gonna disagree with Robin being a joke! Robin has a lot of classic soul joints. Did Blurred Lines charting 1 R&B, 1 Pop go to Robin's head? Absolutely! (that's why he's now single! LOL!). But cuts like 'Love You More', 'Lost Without You', 'Magic', 'Love After War', etc., did put Robin's stamp on soul music! Both Thicke and Jon B are the joint!
Wow! People are so sensitive! I guess there are some Robin groupies on this page! Why are people suddenly dick-riding Robin Thicke!!! Seriously?? He has subpar vocals at best but I guess when most people have nothing else to choose from... smh -___- Your list of singers is good though. I'd add Michael Kiwanuka, Kwabena (kwabs) , Alfie and Daley from the UK. All four are decent singers. But I think I like Kwabena better than Tyler now. ;) He got the soul!! His did an awesome cover of brown sugar.
thank you I got voted down because I guess my words were to brash!! But seriously he's so basic!!! Yet people are praising him now that he has a hit. His music bores me...... I prefer 1. John b, 2.Tyler James, 3.Alfie, 4.Daniel Merriweather over *cough* whiny voice Robin anyday. Robin can go back to obscurity and take rachet miley with him LMAO!!! His wife is pretty though and a good actress. The only thing I respect about Robin is that he actually dates a half black women... unlike Justin.
way better!! Robin thicke sounds like he has no balls. Out of all the male blue eyed singers he's my favourite and then Michael McDonald, Daniel Merriweather and Tyler James is next.
Classic rnb music. He sings like a spazz though. Sounds forced to sing simple notes. I'm not impressed by his voice. He is a great song writer and sang them well in the studio. Just doesn't sound well live to me. He's attractive but get off his vocal nuts.
Of course Robin sing way better, more smooth and sexy. Plus Jon is out of tune here sometimes. Jon is great writer, but not live perfomer in my opinion.
