Bernthal's story about wanting to go and say goodbye and just watching them crack on without him is really relateable to me right now, having just left my first real job which was bartending. Obviously they are two different jobs, acting and hospitality and two different worlds, but I identified with that feeling of suddenly realising that now youre back on the outside. When you work at a place for a significant period of time, especially your first proper job you get it into your head that you are sort of indispensible, and one of the family. The people you see everyday for a good long while, for better or worse they become your whole world. You make friends there. Maybe you find yourself with a little workplace crush. You become embroiled in the drama and the banter and the workload and that becomes your identity. And then when you leave everyone is really sad and its all hugs and goodbyes and "make sure you come back to visit!" and you become convinced that this place won't be the same without you and that you've left a mark that was as significant as the mark it left on you. But then when you do go back, you see that life goes on and people are keeping on at the job without you. Maybe you go back after a week and people are happy to see you and say they miss you, but now youre a guy who USED to work here. Youre not really one of the crew anymore and that can be a pretty tough pill to swallow.

I loved jon as the punisher he was born to play Frank and that's the reason that i start watching walking dead because some people said he's character in TWD is kinda like Frank and now I'm at walking dead season 11

Shane's death was planned from the beginning of the show. It was a great arc, perfect timing. While I loved Shane, he left at the right time and his death made sense and the character was complete. Better than so many other TWD characters that stayed on way too long and became stale or just had arcs that just kept going in circles.

I disagree slightly. I do think Shane’s arc with Ricks group was complete but I don’t think I would’ve wrote Jon Bernthal off the show entirely , would’ve kept that end open. I think Carl or Rick shoots him and we are led to believe he died but didn’t. I would’ve loved for Shane to go off and get his own spin-off instead of Fear the walking dead. Would’ve been incredible television

Crazy how this pops up after I’ve been rewatching the Walking Dead. What a time for TV when that was going on, say what you want how it turned out towards the end and it’s popularity not being the same but you can never deny the awesome ride it gave us all.

I never do this, either before or after TWD, but I used to watch the episodes twice if they were the good ones, in the first three seasons. The show was good until S6, but I never did that after S3. I recently started watching S9 after I quit in S7 (S8x01 was last I watched, so I picked up at the end of that season.) S9 is actually pretty good even after Rick left and feels more grounded even though it's way more scifi, which is weird. I said I was just going to watch it until Rick left, but now I find myself enjoying it again. Maybe I'm just desperate for something to watch, but I'm enjoying TWD for the first time in seven years. It will never be as good as those first three seasons though, but I missed this universe for some reason. Darabont just set up such an interesting universe, it's too bad AMC almost killed it. If HBO (pre-2010 HBO) had produced this show, it would've been one of the best ever made.@@buffnipz

Y'know, for a character that managed to outlive his comic counterpart if only for Two Season's; Shane has still remained as one of the best, most memorable characters in the shows running. He was adapted to the world long before the others. Rick eventually became what Shane already was, but nobody in the group was willing to acknowledge that.

I never watched the walking dead and as an outsider I think it was wonderful for him because the opinion I saw about the show peaked some time after he left and then declined a bit now so leaving before the peak setting the peak up was like getting credit for the greatness of the show without working there anymore and not taking any damage from any possible decline because you're not there anymore

Shane took care of Rick's family thinking Rick was dead so he did something honorable. He promised to take care of his family and protect them. Everything fell apart for Shane with Rick showed up alive. Still, Shane was the one that had that survivalist mentalitality. Rick was a bit unhinged and later on, he went full on crazy. Shane had to do what he did because there were two alpha dogs in the group and you can't have that. He took the challenge and he died for it.

While it was sad to see him go after just Season 1, the man literally became and defined a whole new generation of The Punisher right after. Had he been tied up with the scheduling for TWD, he would have never been able to do it. And he's starred in a total of 16 other projects after TWD. Might not be a Movie A-star, but he has earned so much respect from his fans.
@helen9289
