These are a few of the ways I've modified my boat over the years to make it work better for me. MinnKota Edge: amzn.to/3RTf02G BeaverTail Boat Blind: amzn.to/3tSG2iJ
That’s an awesome boat dude I am just getting started on mine a 16 foot 1981 sea nymph with a 1998 40 hp evinrude. I have always had heavier fiberglass center consoles so this is all new to me but I’m looking forward to the whole new experience. Thanks for sharing …
That Grip tape is a great idea brother, I love it. LEDs a must as well. I watched one of your review videos and I didnt comment, but you did a great job painting this boat sir. Nicely done. Gold wheels look fun as well. You have done a great job with your build sir. I love what you have done. I would love to buy a gun box, the one I am looking at does not come with one and I have not found one to purchase separately, no rush for the time being, I have not made a purchase yet, still tossing it. Yes sir, I can see needing to move the long stern light somewhere else, especially if it blocks half the versa track. Those LEds running around the inside of the boat look great as well, do they attract bugs? Does the boat not come with a motor stabilizer bar? or what ever it is called,? Thanks for sharing brother, I will, if the Good Lord approves, be posting some on my new rig soon as well. New sub here also brother, Keep up the fun videos. Dale
@@BadAtHuntingThank you for the kind words, hopefully be doing some more fishing this year, I have changed a few things around in my life and trying to get set up to be out more often. have a blessed week. Dale
Thanks for great info. It looked like your bunks do not extend past transom. Make sure they extend 1-2 inches. I didn’t on similar boat and cracked the bottom where transom meets bottom. Lots of vertical load especially when bouncing down rough roads.
I believe the brand name was called “Stern Saver” - and it attaches with a high strength marine glue. It all comes together as a kit, with mounting instructions.
Hey buddy. First wanted to say great video. I have a grizzly 1648. I think I bought the same lights for my boat and am about to cut them in. I wanted to ask about your lights you cut in. Do you think they would work under the water ? Thinking about cutting them in the side of my pods and under the waterline . How are yours holding up? I want to put a few under the waterline.
You might be able to put them below the waterline. I didn’t because I don’t trust my ability to waterproof everything. I also used cheaper led lights. It could look really good having them on your pods, but I wasn’t sure how I’d run the wiring to them either. Good luck. I hope it turns out.
Hey I have the exact same boat and am looking to do some of the same modifications that you have done. I was wonder mainly how you ran your electrical from the trolling motor and lights and what the electrical panel at the back were your turned on your LEDs is called
I ran the wiring for all the electrical along the bottom of the boat next to the factory wiring. There is a channel underneath the flooring where you can put the cables. If you look at it a little bit, you’ll see what I’m talking about. The panel that controls most of the electrical stuff was there from the factory. I did have to add two switches that I bought off of Amazon, for the led lighting. Those come with a wiring diagram, and weren’t too difficult to instal. I’m not sure I answered your question right, so if I didn’t - let me know. :)
I’m not sure the exact name of the panel, since it was there from the factory, but as you know there are lots of Switch Panels available online. They all, pretty much, do the same thing.
Thanks for the video dude! I’m looking to buy a 1654 for duck hunting, what’s your take on the motor? How does the 25 treat you and if you could do it again, would you change anything? Thanks dude!
I like the boat in general. With what you get for the price, it’s a good deal. I’m not sure I’d change anything. The motor is fine- if you’re just using it to get from one place to the next. It tops out at around 25mph, depending on the load. The one thing I might do differently is buy a larger duck blind for it. I bought the beavertail 1600, but I’d probably go for the larger 1700, just to cover more.
Fortunately for me I didn’t have to install them, the boat came like that from the factory. I do know Beavertail makes some that they sell on their website. They even offer different sizes to ensure the proper fit on your boat. Hope that helps.
Yeah man. I got them on Amazon. You can search ‘Cable Clips’ - the brand I got was XIAOXI. They’ve been working out good for me the last two years. Hope that helps.
I started to make a video for it, but painting it was so labor intensive - I gave up trying to record everything. What I can say though is I used stencils from Red Leg Camo (on Amazon). I bought two set of every pattern I liked, in the largest size they had available. I used ultra matte spraypaint. I did one layer of stencil at a time, starting with the biggest blocks of color first, then moving on to the smaller stencils. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions.
Yes, one side is rod storage, the other side is a gun locker. They came factory installed on the boat. I’m not sure if anyone makes an aftermarket version.
I painted it myself. If you’re interested in seeing how I did it, I’m working on a video now of ‘how to paint camo’. It should come out in the next month.
I can’t remember the name brand, but I bought it off Amazon. It was the highest rated one I could find. I really got it just to keep track of the hours on the motor.
Thanks for the feedback. This was one of the first videos I ever edited- so I hadn’t figured out the right volume of music to overlay. Hopefully the new ones are better.
