I got married in 1988 and Bon Jovi has literally written the soundtrack to my life with my wife. About 4 years ago I sat down and picked song after song after song from Bon Jovi that has told the most important things that have happened in my life. Starting with Living on a prayer when I got my wife pregnant and I was but 17 years old. I can name event after event after event in my life, both happy, sad, and eventful over my 35 years with my wife, my teaching career, my coaching career and Bon Jovi has a song that points right to that event. Im not joking, I had probably 30 songs that described my life. It was painful for me to see him struggle on stage. I LOVE this man. Wanted Dead or Alive is in my top 5 songs ever and is my go to Karaoke song. I am praying he is well enough to keep going. But if he isnt, he should rest easy knowing that hes seen a million faces, and he rocked them all. Love you JBJ.

And isn't it amazing to be able to sit down and do that, and find not only does it all flood back but it's somehow richer with it!?! @chrisk920 What is "bubble gum rock".. seriously & genuinely!? It makes no sense. Bon Jovi was a rock n roll band. Simple & straight. Millions of ppl obviously loved them & went to their sold out shows. So what's Guns n Rose's then!? Bc they only had harder lyrics & more guitar riffs..Slash is the best in that genre/time/recognizable riffs. But it was Jon that wrote most of the songs & Sambora mainly the guitar & lyrics with Jon on only some of their songs. I was lucky enough to meet them at their prime..60K sold out stadiums. I spent time with both Jon , Richie & though I was way too young to appreciate how lucky I was, I knew how special it was too. I knew his long time body guard & was good friends with his brother who was a VIP body guard in Australia at thar time that I was living there for modeling. Yeah I was too young but millions live this band & they deserve credit as America's all time greats in the same vein as Springsteen. Appreciate what they were for who they were. He won't be here for long..

Years ago he said it exactly like that in his Oprah interview and he still says it. Shows consistency and commitment. Mad respect for this man! As far as his voice is concerned, he's no different from any other professional. Doctors retire if they can no longer hold a scalpel, sports men and women retire because their bodies can no longer keep up. As a Bon Jovi and Jon Bon Jovi fan since 1984, I teared up during this honest and touching interview. Jon has been invincible during the majority of his career. To hear him acknowledge a serious health issue that could have ended his stellar career was heartbreaking, but he has the courage to tell the truth and share his struggle. And he refuses to short-change fans by lip-syncing! I’ve experienced a chronic illness in the past two years and felt like giving up, but Jon has encouraged me to “never give up.” He is an amazing, genuine, from- the-heart human being, and that is why I love him and have been a dedicated fan for 40 years. #BonJovi40 #BonJoviForever

I’ve seen him 3 times and accepted he was in his 50’s and couldn’t hit those notes that he recorded almost 30+ years ago. He was still a BOSS on stage and gave the fans 110% and his attention. He read and signed their posters, interacted, knew he inspired and was there with them during good/bad times. He’s definitely a fans rock star. If you gotta hang it up Jon, your music lives on. Thanks for the songs and the memories.

Exactly , I've seen many of my Idols when they were older in the flesh and on YT , and it's only human not to be able to sing at an older age like you could in your twenties...it's just not possible. At least the true Rock greats still have the balls to perform live , many of todays stars wouldn't dream of it. Also I think when you go and see somebody who has given you so much pleasure and good memories through the years , as a fan I'm not just there to enjoy the gig , I'm there to show my support and say thanks for being the sound track to my life!

My wife found Bon Jovi back in the 80s.... after listening to one of their songs I said.... They will be one hit wonders... 4 times seeing them in concerts and 40 odd years later she often says when one of their songs comes on..... theres those one hit wonders....... I am 24hrs older the JB born March 1st 1962 and my wife also says.... its amazing what the difference is in a day.... we are old and retired now but we both sing along like 12 year olds when their music comes on... like our relationship,,,, its a true test of time... congrats and thank you JB....

Still one of the best concerts I've ever seen and I've seen everybody. Love Jon Bon Jovi. Love Richie Sambora. My best friend and I thought we had won the lottery when we scored tickets to their concert -- convinced it was going to be one of the best times in our entire lives. Unfortunately, our car broke down on the way to St. Louis (from Springfield, IL) and we missed it. Sadder still, we never got another opportunity to see them -- life just kinda got in the way -- but we've been "rocking out" to them all these years.

Jon made two great solo albums: Blaze of Glory (1990) & Destination Anywhere (1997). Richie also has a couple of his own: Stranger in This Town (1991) & Undiscovered Soul (1998). But his 3rd album from 2012 may as well not exist. Whether it's their solo efforts or the entire band's, their 21st century material has never been as good as those from 1983 to 2000. Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, & Desmond Child are all Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees, but all artists eventually decline.

Great interview! Jon said something interesting in the documentary: "One thing you can't be in this world is a quitter". I wonder if Jon was speaking about himself or about Richie as well. 4 albums since Richie left but never the same. Jon has more now a pop voice where songs are tailored not to strain his voice. Different era's. Richie with Bon Jovi and the rock they put out never to be duplicated again. Jon sounds good today but band not the same from decades ago which is understandable given his age. I did see Whitesnake and was singing in his late 60's and still crushing it. Sometimes the rock voice lasts forever and other times it goes out. When I heard Jon in his early 40's singing on tour with Richie his voice is one of the best I have heard ever and have seen many dozens of concerts with various artists.

In 1988, at age 22 I got my hair permed and highlighted at a salon in the Bronx to look more like JBJ. I had his poster on my wall (no homo) in college and he was the inspiration for the Rock Stardom I dreamt of. I looked quite rocking for a few years there but deep down I was a nerdy introvert not destined to be star trippin’ on stage. I still play my guitar, occasionally cranking it until the neighbors complain but I will never be JBJ cause there will forever be only one.
