OK…THAT was a great interview. I love how you asked thoughtful questions, but then also let Richie really expand on his answers. But maybe the greatest part was at the end, how you really went for it on that second “Livin’ on a prayer!” I could almost sense your brain thinking “ok, I may never get this chance again, so I’m going for it!” 🤘🏻
Bon Jovi without Richie totally lost their sound and the songwriting and quality of albums since he left was a huge loss. I met Richie in Sicily - a guitar god and great guy who was happy to have a photo with. Made my night; thanks Richie!!
If that's the way you feel then you're NOT a true fan. Did the music and songwriting change?? Yes. But Bon Jovi is still a great band with very talented musicians. Ritchie was ONE member of the band, yes a prominent one but he was not the glue that held the band together, that's ALL JON.
Always a Bon Jovi and Richie fan. I can get why the guys in the band are a little bitter with him but the press just needs to let it go. Its been 11 years. He didnt go about it the right way but Im sure there's more to the story than we will ever know. Always a fan of both....sure it would be great to see them together one last time ,they both have issues and not getting younger, but for now lets wish them both the best and thank you for a great 40 years of music and memories.
I love his no BS approach to life. If it happens, great - if not, he moves on. Make no mistake; this guy can SHRED! One of the great under-appreciated guitar players. I would love to see Bon Jovi w/Richie one more time.
@@LinkRocksAnd so is Jon, why do people keep on playing the two off against each other. I honestly feel for Richie, he definetely needs help. He can hardly speak. I watch him sing Dead or alive, I felt sooo embarrassed for his sake, it's so apparent that he was drunk...
People shouldn’t forget how important Richie was to JBJ’s success. The documentary kind of reminds of the Chicago Bulls Last Dance, which was MJ’s recollection of the times and events, but probably not the full and transparent account of events. This doc also is the same. It’s the story as told by JBJ. Richie there is no JBJ and the success the band had without you. The best songs from my youth were co-written by you. Rock on Sir!!
@@Dani-sm8jp ha! Love it! Yes, he does! But.. sometimes and every once in awhile, a person almost feels the need to speak on behalf of themselves, or else no one else would ever know! Perfect Ex: this very raw interview of Richie's. I mean, if it were not that Richie let us know All of what 'he, himself' accomplished, would We have ever known? Speaking for myself, I didn't know half of it so GD for him! He also Deserves just as much recognition as JBJ, as does the rest of the group!!
He wrote most the goods, and Stranger in this Town, and Young Guns II soundtrack show that. Only good thing about YGII was Jeff Beck, and boy was that a treat. But his new songs I suspect were written to be BJ soungs, especially the one that dropped yesterday. Just needed a little help from Desmond.
Key word is co wrote. Yes Richie and Jon together are GREAT but to say Richie is Bon Jovi. No simply not so. Sorry I get why he left, can't forgive how he did it. You don't walk out on a tour
I think JBJ has been very complimentary about Richie, quite rightly, the band were better with him but all credit to JBJ to carry on and make it work..he’s a very smart guy with good values and work ethos. I’ve found a new found respect for Bon Jovi. It would be for the fans if they could reunite.
I love Richie Sambora. He is true honest and genuine. Generous with his life. Clearly his daughter was his focus and other issues of why he left Bon Jovi... Ppl don't realize Jon was the owner he hired them as employees to the band. Which is not right. There is no bon Jovi with the band. Good life Richie 💝💝💝
"I booked myself any time I needed a job" ~ love it. "I needed to bring guys to the shows because Jon was just too good looking and they weren't showing up" ~ HA! Regarding the rift and the documentary: "...it didn't deserve to be mounted on me so hard...and anything that I did WELL was unmentioned." That sums it all up. Great interview. I now officially love this guy. What an amazingly talented man. Who could watch this and not just wanna give him a big hug? Please take good care of yourself, Richie Sambora. You're a friggin' treasure. Keep the music coming and thank you.
Any fans of Bon Jovi and/or Richie, if you haven't already, you must get his 1st solo album Stranger In This Town. Wall to wall fantastic. I don't throw "masterpiece" around lightly but it warrants it. Then go to his next albums, lots of gems in all of them. His voice is so rich, so powerful, and his songs are amazing. He's one of my fav artists ever, top 5.
Stranger in this Town is one of my favorite albums from the era. First time listening it blew my doors off. Was left wondering why Richie wasn't the lead singer of Bon Jovi. The voice and guitar work are phenomenal.
Really well done interview...you drew him out respectfully and honestly. Thanks also to Richie for being honest and forthright. We all pray Jon gets his voice concert ready and the dynamic duo does it again! WE PRAY!
@@AllisonHagendorf I've not seen you interview anyone before, however, I see that you only reply to the positive comments about the interview and Richie and ignore the ones that call him out for his bad behaviour and his clearly intoxicated or affected by the results of so many years of intoxication state. Would be nice if you could see past him and acknowledge those who don't think the sun shines out of his ass. Yes, he contributed much to the success of Bon Jovi, BUT, he was NOT the frontman of the band. If he wasn't happy with that dynamic he didn't have to be there for 30 years. No one is saying he isn't entitled to leave. The issue is how he went about it
What’s great about this interview is Richie actually sounds well and healthy. He’s had some bad PR with a few podcasts and interviews in the last 12 months (one even getting pulled after being released) and this interview feels like a total 180. Obviously Richie still has some demons I’m sure but as a huge fan, this was refreshing to see him in this light. One of my favorite moments was getting to eat Richie’s 50th birthday cake at the meadowlands. He had this insane Les Paul shaped cake brought out and the 15 year old me was just pinching myself that I was backstage filming with the band and experiencing Richie’s birthday. Little did I know the end of the band was so close. -Patrick
Sorry, I love Richie but he doesn't look well and healthy at all. Seeing singing Livin' on a Prayer at the end was cringe worthy. And him needlessly taking digs at Jon all throughout the interview was embarassing.
@@CharliePutz yeah I’m not sure what to make of the Prayer performance. I will say that when you’ve played that song a million times, it’s easy to 1) take playing it for granted and therefore mess up a bit and 2) try to play it differently than you’ve always played it because you are bored to death of it. That said, it didn’t sound like he can hit the notes either so the idea that he can cover for Jon is suspect. But I think he sounded great during the interview. Compare this to the one he did with foo fighter’s Chris Shiflett and its night and day. -P
Love Richie...Lucky I was able to meet him and spend time with him one night...he's the reason I became a guitar player....BUT...He still isn't right. Fortunately, he does sound better than he has in recent interviews -- however, you can tell his pronounciation of words is off, the over the top physical antics. I've seen Richie completely straight and this is night and day -- although, as others pointed out again, he's better than he's been. Agree with the others on here, Prayer was cringe-worthy for numerous reasons. He also needs to stop taking shots at Jon -- comes off as unprofessional and catty. Oh and everyone who says there would be no Jon without Richie: Listen -- Bon Jovi wouldn't be "Bon Jovi" without both of them. BOTH of them are what made that band successful (along with the others who composed the perfect bass lines, piano parts, and drum grooves). Pray he can get back to a healthy Richie again.
Excellent interview Allison, really well done!…It’s like you got Richie to relax and he immediately opened up to reveal himself as a respectful and down to earth kinda guy…You make it look easy girl, thanx so very much!
Brilliant interview! THANK YOU! Loved hearing from Richie and speak against the documentary and telling his side of it. Miss seeing him with Bon Jovi and only “pray” that he returns to do another album or two and some tours with Jon, Tico, David, and Hugh. Do it for the fans! ❤
Thanks for the interview. Always loved Richie and his solo music as it seemed a lot more expressive than the stuff he did with Bon Jovi. Not that I don’t love his material with Bon Jovi but after he left there just seems to be big gaping void that only he can fill. Kudos to Richie for maintaining his integrity. Richie is one of those once in a lifetime guitarists who can never be replicated because he has so many different approaches to his material. Often copied never replicated. Looking forward to hearing more of his new material. God bless from Fiji 🇫🇯👍😎🤙👊🤘
Thanks for this interview with Sambora, I really loved it. He is one of my fave guitar heroes from growing up in the 80’s. Great guitarist and a cool dude. Rock on. 🤘🏻😎🎸🎶
Thank you, for the interview, Allison. Mr. Sambora is my hero, i was 12 and start to love bon jovi, and of course his solo albums. I am from Indonesia 🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
Great interview. I’ve heard a lot of stuff over the years about Richie’s side of the story ( from the inside) so I’m glad he’s now getting the chance to tell his perspective. The documentary has opened the floodgates😂He finally seems relaxed enough to talk openly about it. I’m so happy for him. And he will continue to be my favourite musician and songwriter forever. I love this man 🥰
He’s a true icon and a phenomenal musician. Like many geniuses, at base he started as a fan buying records, going to shows, dreaming of being like his heroes and playing 24/7 out of love of instrument.
I watched the new Bon Jovi doc, as well as this and a few other interviews with Richie. I think Richie is amenable to a reunion, but Jon seems a bit bitter about it. Through all the docuseries and the press interviews Jon has done, he comes across as a LOT more egotistical than I thought he was the 40 years I've been a fan. I'm still a HUGE fan, but in each episode and interview I see with Jon he just has this "I knew I was gonna be great, I was great, I'm still great" attitude. Maybe I read it wrong, it's all subjective. All that said, as great as Phil X is, I think Richie coming back in the next year or 2 for a record and tour would be a money-printing machine. Fingers crossed.
Thank you so very much Allison for showcasing Richie Sambora on your show! I am grateful to hear about his life and love of life. He's an incredible human being who is, who he is, he doesn't put on any airs like many of fame and fortune. I was on target when you asked him what he was most grateful for, and I got his daughter Ava right. She is so blessed to have Richie as a father. There is so much love between them. I wish I had a dad like him! Godspeed to you and Richie!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Allison... Richie Sambora is the reason I fell in love with guitars and started playing as a teen. Have been a Bon Jovi fan for over 37 years and will always be but I do miss Richie being there so much.Love all of Richie's solo albums but the song One Light Burning will always hold a special place in my heart...Music saves lives and sure is medicine...thanks Richie @therealsambora 😘
Great interview!! Bon Jovi isn’t the same without Richie and I’ve been a fan since 1984. He is an amazing solo artist, singer, songwriter, and lead guitarist ❤
Watched the Bon Jovi doc over a few nights. I really wanted to hear more from some of the band members, but also enjoy seeing some of the highlights of their career. It really just reminded me of how good the band used to be when Richie was still there, but they have a great catalogue of rock hits. Can't wait to hear your new tunes, Richie! Keep rockin' on.
Allison, thank you, thank you, thank you! I just watched "Thank You and Good Night" the night before last. I binged all four episodes in a row. This interview with Richie added some balance to that story. I agreed with everything Richie said. There was some shifts in the timeline. There were also some albums missing from the series too. Like Jon was actually dropped or temporarily dropped from the label. That wasn't in there. The story about why Alec left is also different than what I recall from interviews with Jon right after it happened. Plus, so much about Richie's contributions and what he did and even how he was portrayed was off. So this added balance. It also offered hope. God don't we all need some hope? I would love for Jon to be able to come back and for Richie to rejoin him on stage. Even if it were for just one night. It would be worth the wait. Thanks again for your show. I love it. I love what you're doing. DON'T. EVER. STOP!
I speak for many people the band Bon Jovi was never the same without Richie and I still feel the same way. I don’t even know a song after Richie left and that’s the truth. I didn’t even know they were still a band after Richie left. I had no clue they were still making music ?? I didn’t hear anything. Richie Sambora honestly was part of the creative force of the band Bon Jovi without him. It’s not the same.
Love you Richie! Nobody sings “I’ll be there for you” better than you do live 💙 Also what a fabulous interview. Wonderful to hear you speak so openly and honestly Richie 💙 Would I love to see a Bon Jovi reunion? Hell yes. But I also want to see you playing live on your own too. I shall pray you make it my way 💙
Richie was ALWAYS the best vocalist in Bon Jovi. As far back as the ‘Slippery’ tour when Jon would lose his voice, It was Richie who would take over the lead vocals in addition to his incredible guitar playing.
@@kellyrobtoy7399 Absolute bullshit. Just say you prefer Richie and leave it at that instead of making such s ridiculous comment. There would be no Richie without Jon. Jon wrote the song, Jon got the record deal and Jon setup the band. He was by far the most superior singer and frontman in the band.
Wooow Allison! I am from Spain and a huge fan of Bon Jovi and specially of Richie, and I have discovered your channel thanks to it, I have to say a big THANK YOU for such a great, friendly and nice interview of my guitar hero, is one of the best interviews of him I have ever seen and proof of that is how confortable Richie was talking about all those topics with you. Thanks again, you rock it, and for sure I will recommend your channel to all my friends! ❤
Great interview, it was nice to hear some of Richie’s thoughts on the way the series was put together. He did have 30 years with the band and people only showcase his departure….. that is a little unfair and unbalanced portrayal of the body of his work in Bon Jovi. He seems like a decent guy!✌🏻
I loved Richie when I was a young adult in the 80s. For me, he was the heart and soul of Bon Jovi. So good to see him being appreciated once again. A great talent.
I have so much more respect for Richie and Jon after this interview, I really hope that they can get the band back together and do what they do best ☺️ ❤
I love how Richie looks in this interview, he seems to be much healthier and fit! He looks like his 2012 version, with bits of 2004 and 2007, which I never thought I'd see again after his 2016-2022 period. I pray he'll continue on the right path and do things well from here on out! ♥
I honestly had more respect for him before hearing this interview. Jon was very gracious to him in the documentary and Ritchie is not returning that favor. He's acting like he was an angel when really He walked out on his fans and his partners without an explanation. I love him in the band I've never heard anything he did before or after. I have certainly continued to listen to Bon Jovi. And the things they put out after he left. I wish he had been a little more humble and a little more honest about his departure and owned it better. He's great and I would go see them again if he joined, but I'd see them regardless.
yes I agree! Wow I thought he would have owed things he did a little better. I still will always love Jon and Richie together but the past was the past. Don’t know if I would like to see him back in the band- maybe just for a reunion but that’s it.
Sometimes you have to do things for your family. I left a job of over 28 years as a nurse because my daughters were ill. They needed me to be with them
Jon doesn’t have a gracious bone in his body. Every chance he gets he calls Richie out on his issues. He has been doing that for years. Heck, at one point, he told Richie to shut the F up about all that he did in the band because he knows Richie did a lot and he didn’t want him getting any credit. Richie is finally speaking out on how he feels about it and I for one am glad he is. Also, Jon was wrong for calling out Alec and his issues in the documentary. Alec passed away and is not even here to defend himself. Jon is cold hearted and cold blooded, egotistical, self centered and it kills me that his fans actually think he could ever do anything wrong. I really don’t see how Richie put up with him for all those years
@@denisecastleberry5724 No all the guys talked with Alec and Alec was the one that finally made the decision to leave!!!OMG! You know nothing. Alec was always drunk on stage. And never showed up to record. They had to do something about him even tho it hurt them. But they all stayed friends. As for Richie he left without telling anyone that night he wasn't showing up and then never showed up again and left them stranded without a guitar player how is that fair. He didn't even tell them why!! In the real world if someone didn't show up for work they would be fired on the spot!! Same dif. Plus Richie if feeling good in this interview. Real nice. He needs to go back to rehab. He is such a dumbass. Jon isn't talking smack about him but Richie is about him and Bon Jovi. He didn't have a problem when he was in the group as I watching videos of them back inn the day. he seemed fine then. He wouldn't be anything without them in fact he told Jon that he was going to be HIS guitar player. Jon should have kept looking for one and not just signed on Richie so fast. I love how Richie is changing history when he is interviews and he changes it in every interview he does. He can't keep it straight. I'm getting so sick and tired of him right now lying when he opens his mouth. I can't even hear anymore of this interview. He's making a fool of himself. He needs to get his 💩 together. Because he has lied why he left Bon Jovi in the first place and he's lying now. And the guys are being really good about it not calling him on it but us real fans know it. We know the time lines. And you followers just believe everything he says.
Hey Richie and Alison ✋🏻 just wanted to say I don’t think Jon would’ve made it as a solo artist because Richie was the heart and soul of that band. Richie, I know you heard the fans screaming every time you did your solo parts on guitar or vocals especially I’ll Be There for You! That song was made for you to sing. I love your new songs as well and your older albums too. Undiscovered Soul is my favorite. Seeing you live in concert is tops on my bucket list since I have never had the opportunity to do that. Alison, I think you made a lot of new fans after that interview. I know I am one of them. Thanks to you both for taking the time to share with us.
and yet apart from Jon and the band, he has made no visible strides in all the 11years he left. i guess that is why he wants back using the fans as an excuse
@@BayviewProperties-x4j Exactly - where's the huge headlining tour he probably thought he would have? He's a fantastic guitarist and harmony vocalist in Bon Jovi but like so many who think they're better than they actually are, he didn't quite hit. Jon also doesn't disparage him or his value to the band, whereas Richie seems to put Jon down whenever he gets an opportunity. While it would be great if he came back and they could be what they were (doubtful after so many years and the change in their music at their ages), I think Jon would be an idiot to take him back and believe that he was committed to his place in the band and let's face it, Jon is anything but an idiot. I think he regrets leaving and realises he needed the band. That the other band members still have a rift with him after all those years tells me that he was in the wrong with how he left and they resent it. No one knows what went on between them all but I think if he was going to return it should have been within a year or two. Kind of think that ship has sailed. Jon doesn't seem to want to say it's not going to happen, but Richie still seems to be at odds with everything and want to fuel animosity. I can't see a reunion working unless ALL of them put aside their differences and agree to start over and not bring up old crap.
Hi Allison! Thank you for inviting a lot of us to watch your newest episode here! Richie Sambora is & will always be a Legendary musician, songwriter & you name the rest! He did a great job working with Bon Jovi, Orianthi (as RSO)! I enjoyed Q&A (especially with lots of Laughs! xD xD )! Livin' On A Prayer will always be my favorite! Way to go again, Allison! And I LIKED your video too! 👍
That's amazing to hear Ritchie again, after all these years. Definitely, Ritchie made huge impact in the Bon Jovi Band Journey. Jon and Ritchie together were incredibly good in composing and creating amazing songs. I pray and I believe in miracles that they will reunite again.
This was a wonderfully conducted Interview, Alison. I think it showcased the real Richie. The docuseries did not do him justice but you sure did. I wish Richie well on his road to healing. He’s got a lot more music to share.
I agree with this Alison. You embodied a comfortable energy that matched Richie's. So comfortable as you engaged him in talking freely about himself and the music business. It also allowed him to show there were 2 sides with JBJ. It was a conversation as friends, not realizing your audience. Great Interview!
Richie Sambora - The guy i love & always will. Most amazing Bon Jovi band member, performer, singer, songwriter. Have all his solo stuff in my collection, - he is incredible!
Glad he mentioned only getting negative feedback from Jon late in the bands existence. I remember seeing appearances and interviews a few times where Jon would find a passive way to insult Richie, and he'd just take it in stride.
He did anything but take it in stride. His jabs at Jon are petty and nasty and I honestly don't know why the hell Jon would even consider allowing him to return. Seems the others are not that enthralled with him either.
Few things transcend more than authenticity and pure curiosity for curiosity’s sake. These things are evident with this interviewer, plus she has a spirit that evokes & seeks the better part of ourselves to step forward .
Richie is the coolest! SUPER down to earth and "real". Always keeping it💯We hung out many times. I was friends with Jon and then ended up hanging with Richie too. He saw me in Laguna Beach when he lived there, just driving down the main drag, we pulled up beside each other coincidentally, hadn't seen him in a little while, he immediately invited me over, super cool, but I had to go somewhere and now we live 5 minutes from each other. Haven't seen him in about 30 years! Hope to run into him in the neighborhood here, or maybe reach out to him to play some music together, but I want to say this about him.... Warm, generous, funny, humble, fun..., etc. Class act, super nice and someone who lights up a room with his zest for life. You deserve all great stuff Richie! Glad to see you in a great place. Congrats on the new music. You seem inspired! You came back to take care of your family, etc., Good man! Rock on my bro! If you happen to read this for some reason, hope to see you soon (maybe at the Commons) and have a few laughs and maybe get together and play some music! I'm a great writer too. I could have been/could be a member of the writing team.We should write some songs together sometime. 👊💪🤘🎸🎶
Richie was my hero growing up. He made me work hard at learning the guitar. Loved his music then and love his music now!!! Keep on rockin’ sir Richie. It would be a dream of mine to co-write a tune with you! 🎸🎶🎶
Richie was the heart and soul of Bon Jovi and his solo records are amazing. At this point, I only wish Jon and Richie be happy whatever happens, Bon Jovi is the band of my life and they already gave me enough in 30 years, a reunion tour or new record would be a bonus track
Been a Richie fan since the first time I saw him on a New Jersey VHS my older sister had, I was 12. My first concert at aged 14 was his 37th Birthday in Glasgow, Scotland 1996, what a blast. I love all of his solo albums and they are ones I often return to. If I ever met him I’d just say thank you. It’s because of him I love guitar and music so much. It’s good to see him doing so well. Great interview. ❤
Congratulations! Excellent interview! I think there are 3 versions about Richie's departure from Bon Jovi: the version told by Jon, the version told by Richie and the true version (which fans, unfortunately, will never know).
Beautiful interview. So down to earth and so humble and so loving and caring just like the words he used to describe the ending. Thank you so much 🙏🕊️❤️✝️❤️
Richie, I TRULY love your voice. I really hope you and Bon Jovi play together again. I’m worried Jon’s voice won’t ever be what it once was. I’ve heard that as people age, singers especially, that their vocal range diminishes. Love and prayers to you, Jon, and the band.
BINGO Allison!!! Music transcends and is what can absolutely unite this fragile world. My higher power is music and I’ve turned to it through everything life has thrown at me. Bon Jovi is part of that. Bon Jovi (with Richie) is the remedy that can bring this world together.
As a HUGE fan of Bon Jovi, i could never imagine them without Ritchie. Him and Jon were the perfect duo. To me, Ritchie was just as important as Jon. I know he chose a different road in life, the band isnt the same without him. At least we have years of music and memories with him. I would love for jons voice to heal and have Ritchie come back for a short tour or tv concert as a thank you and farewell to the millions of fans. I feel sorry for Jon. Hes on a massive promo tour for his documentary which ive been watching tons of them and the first question he's asked is about Richie. I I haven't seen much of Richie but his first question was about Jon. People need to stop already.
Yes I was born & grew up in New York! Because of that my work ethic is still ingrained in me. I'm also in LA now & appreciate the beautiful days not having to survive the treacherous weather
I've always thought Richie was the MVP of BJ. The albums since he left the band are proof of that. His solo records are really good too. Great interview.
Jon & Ritchie were the “Dynamic Duo” of Bon Jovi (like Jagger & Richards, Plant & Page, Tyler & Perry, etc). They sang well together & wrote excellent songs. They both got inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame together! The band Bon Jovi wouldn’t have been the same without the original players involved. It was upsetting when Ritchie left, but if you’re really not happy anymore, I guess you gotta leave. His daughter also needed her dad at the time. Ritchie wanted the freedom to do his own thing & be a “Bluesman” - like Stevie Ray Vaughn. He seemed happy playing in “RSO” (with Orianthi). I liked their music. I’ll give a listen to Ritchie’s album. I wish him the best. He seemed excited about creating/promoting the new songs. I hope he stays sober. It was good to see him smile. 😺
Sambora is my guitar hero, i would love to see him back playing with the band.. he adds so much and his vocals are just incredible! I’ll always be loyal to him regardless of where he ends up.
I've seen a lot of Jon's current interviews and Richie's and I smile through Richie's. He's such a beautiful person. I wish I was in the music biz to get to know a man like that. awesome
What a great interview! Absolutely loved it THANK YOU! LOVE Richie's new songs and your questions were impeccable, I really needed to hear his side of things, and man what a gentleman. First time I watch your show, will surely come back.
Great to get Richie's honest thoughts about the documentary because I was hugely disappointed and frankly pissed off that the whole thing turned into Jon's story and his vocal issues in particular. The classic line-up, the great songs they wrote, and how they toured the world are just side plots. The documentary starts with the current line-up and ends with the current line-up. That pretty much sums up that in Jon's opinion, Bon Jovi was never much more than his solo band.
Agree 100%, and that’s why I stopped being a fan the second Richie left. Any illusions of Bon Jovi being an actual band died right then. David, Tico (and whoever happens to be in Bon Jovi these days) are nothing more than side men.
I lost all respect for this lady when she said the stones are still kicking it. I don't think so, they were always just mediocre and paid for their exposure.
First timer viewer and new subber 🙋🏽♂️.... Yeah, Richie seems so relaxed and chill. Always been a Richie fan! IMO he was the the X-Factor for BJ. Allison, you're so patient and such a great interviewer. Your energy is so positive. Keep it up! ❤🙏🏼
Another Brilliant Interview,Thanks for that,but....As much as I'd love to see Bon Jovi live again & praying to the Rock N' Roll Gods Jon makes a full recovery, I'd like to see the two of them sitting down toghter at an interview & see that chemistry again.Just sitting there and show us that whats in the past is in the past & move forward. My 1st ever concert was Bon Jovi back in 88,I was 14 and went on my own back in Dublin. My Mom brought me on the bus, walked me down to the Quays and told me to walk down to the very end & that is where the venue was. Seeing them live blew me away & I was hooked to live shows ever since.Support from Lita Forde too \m/ Two Rock N' Roll Cowboys.... Ps,if it does happen I also hope the the ticket prices are not ridiculously high....It has gotten waaaaaaaaaaaay out of control....There's a topic you should be talking to your guests about. My Daughter is 16 going on 17 & I try & bring her to as many show's I can but lately it has gone beyond a joke. She played her 2nd live show which was Awesome.#Cloudspotter ;) Playing on the Bass guitar \m/ & finding the lane for her which I encourage.... Sorry for long feed back.Keep the Spirit going, Rock N' Roll
Ah, that must have been the opening show of the New Jersey tour, October 31 or November 1st. 1988. I remember there being a big report about that show in Metal Hammer magazine the following month and I bought it. I was such a fan back then, crazy about the band, but didn't get to see them until 2010 here in Helsinki, Finland. Memories!
Well, firstly what a GREAT HONEST THOUGHTFUL interview. Ritchie Sambora is the REAL DEAL. He was the kindest supportive generous musician person human being you could ever meet. I was a Norwich UK born lady ( with a disability) I could not do much but I could sing a decent rock song. I found support & manager who when in New York at a recording studio met Ritchie Sambora. They chatted and Ritchie offered to meet me with a view to write a song for me. How kind and generous is that! Well Slippery when Wet was just recorded and Bon Jovi were in UK touring that album. It was the start of the undercurrent that was huge. I was to meet Ritchie in Ipswich ( my home town gig ) at their hotel. My manager booked a room in the hotel. I went for breakfast Jon was there, he asked me to join him I did. We chatted then I went back to my room. Things happened that showed Jon to have the biggest ego. He was not pleasant and when a girl turns him down well….. I met Ritchie but because “ this is Jon’s band” I could not get my song. Jon stopped that. But Ritchie tried he played me Bad Medicine that was on their next album. We clicked and I picked up the tune easily but sadly someone’s ego stopped me from moving forward. My disability Stills disease is not an easy thing very painful. But alas my music career was halted. But Ritchie was so cool and supportive but in hindsight Jon was very single minded even then Richie was right as I said goodbye to Richie he said “ I’m so sorry but this is his band” I knew what that meant. 😞
What my interpretation of what Richie said about John makes perfect sense ! You go up the scales throughout the years and well we all know reality sets in and we are not the spring chickens we once were , but anyways The whole Bon Jovi catalog went to heights that noone ever could have imagined and when your voice deteriorates over time and lets face it abuses the money maker ! John gave us 30+ years of solid vocals and more shows than will ever know . Richie was thinking about that and more about the brand instead of just kicking albums out there's a standard and when the standards get compromised by bad vocals I would have left too and respect that ! I got to see them in Indianapolis without Richie when they were promoting This House Is not for sale tour and it was awesome to be there but John's voice wasnt the greatest and lets face it if it wasnt for the backing vocals it would have been tough to watch live knowing what use to be and what reality in the moment differed ! I will always be a fan of Bon Jovi because for the ones of us who has had the privilege to have heard the catalog since the begining it was beautiful and still is . I hope John can get his voice back to atleast 80% of what it use to be and Ritchie and him can write one more great rock songs and bring the band back to full circle ! God bless the band and Ritchie and look forward to what tomorrow can bring ! Stay Classy Ritchie and John and the bands !
